In this video, I tried to show in detail each step how to cut a mug from a tree. I carve a mug of raw birch.
I use: an Hultafors ax, a Yakut left-handed knife, a large semicircular chisel, a hook knife, a hole saw.

Спокойная, размеренная, точная и очень красивая работа мастера.
В деле - ручной инструмент, может, и не "именитый" какой, но заточенный и направленный отменно.
Так вот и предки наши в старину, думаю, все могли топором, да теслом, да ножом, да пилой - и дом срубить (да резьбой домовой украсить), и колыбель сыну, и посуду, и сани с телегой, и стол да лавки. ..
Сказано было, что "красота - не прихоть полубога, а хищный глазомер простого столяра". Так и есть.
Большими достоинствами видео, на мой взгляд, являются отсутствие фоновой музыки (не мешает слышать звуки топора да стамески) и уютные, душевные детали вроде своей же работы куксы с дымящимся напитком...
Нет ничего лишнего, пафосного в этой мастерской.
Напротив - атмосфера рабочего особого лада, уюта, искренности и человеческого душевного добра.

Не помню кто сказал, но вещь очень мудрая: "Ты можешь лишиться всего, но ремесло останется с тобой навсегда." Просматривая подобные ролики, начинаешь убеждаться в этом все больше и больше, ибо в случае чего можно сделать любой предмет обихода (начиная от кружки и ложек и заканчивая кроватью с крышей). Видео очень понравилось, желаю успехов каналу)

Я не понимаю людей ставящие дизы подобным видео, видео называется вырезаю кружку, и мужик 30 минут ролика сидит/стоит и вырезает кружку, ну как, как можно диз поставить?! Я понимаю если у него в итоге ложка получилась тогда понятно, обманул, но блин слов нет...

Видео классное, у меня, конечно инструментов таких нет, но появилось желание по сидеть по колупать дерево, поеду в гараж искать стамески и точить ножи..

I'm super surprised by how much of the work was done using an axe! I did not expect so many of the fine cuts and carves to be done with such a tool
an ax is a very useful tool. The more you can do with an ax, the less you have to cut with a knife. This speeds up the process a lot.

thank you -- this teaches me about this yakut knife. I watched the video because I saw it said "left-handed knife" but I saw you using the knife in your right hand. Hi friend. Many thanks. I'll try to explain. The traditional Yakut right-handed knife has a flat side on the right side. I use a Yakut knife, which is for left-handed people. It turns out that the flat side is on the left. If you look at the knife from above. The Yakut knife has a chisel blade structure.

Brilliant craftsmanship! Thank you for sharing your process. You've developed the muscles to control that axe so very well. I wouldn't advise others to attempt this type of axe work. Best for beginners to stick with chisels. You've been doing it a long time so you have those muscles for control. God bless from Vermont.

Как для видео или как искусство и что б не забыть ремесло да, но как для практичности очень затратно по времени, на сегодня куча инструментов, чтоб не резать в ручную. А так, шикарная работа, я сам токарю по дереву немного, удачи и крепких рук
Спасибо друг. У меня только сырая береза есть, а лучше чем ручным инструментом ее ничем не обработать. Я не использую наждачную бумагу. Примерно час-полтора у меня уходит от полена до полностью вырезанной кружки, вряд ли есть альтернатива, чтобы можно было ускорить этот процесс. Понятно, что при массовом изготовлении у меня есть и ленточка и торцовка.

Если бы резка дерева слышалась примерно так же, было бы очень круто. Не только глазам приятно за работой наблюдать, но и слушать 😊

To those commenting about his thumb-clearly you’ve never done this. I’m only a novice at woodcarving, but it’s still easy enough to recognize that his thumb is well away from the work on his more powerful cuts. Any time the axe is being used for big chops, his thumb is on the other side of the work or tucked under his hand. His thumb only gets close when his axe stays below the work and the strokes are more controlled.
That said, knife work in the lap is a natural but very dangerous habit. Even with good control, one significant defect in the wood is sending your slice toward your femoral artery. A good practice is to hold the work on the outside of your leg, where any slips or breaks direct the blade away from you. It feels less natural at first, but gives equal power and better safety.
Gloves are still useful. I grant that he's less clumsy than I am, but a layer of leather between axe and skin is still a good idea. As they say, Safety Third :P
Hey. Safety should always come first. I learned to do circles intuitively and on my own. As I learned, I continue to do so. So far, I have been able to do this without loss or injury. I make a lot of mugs and I do not think about how to hold and how to chop or cut. The muscles themselves know how to contract. Automation. ))
