Thank you for the video. It's difficult to get a company to give any type of ballpark pricing without them wanting to do an elaborate home heating evaluation.

Thanks! We aim for transparency, and this includes with pricing. All of our price ranges also include labor costs. While it's true that to get to a specific price, you'll need a more complete evaluation, if someone says they can't give you a range for various equipment types, it's likely a sales tactic.

Good information. I appreciate you giving a "ballpark" figure. I don't like it when companies beat around the bush so they can give their hard sell.

Thanks! We try to be transparent with our pricing, which includes labor costs. It's impossible to give a specific price without more information about a home, but we like to help our customers know what to expect beforehand.

Yes Depends on the Furnace and Model
    Goodman Installed $5000 GMVC96
Trane S9V2 a bit more installed
We got one installed yesterday for $5200
    I believe that's a good deal
    Took them Almost 8 Hours
Don't worry about the Names..Most of the Parts for all these Furnaces are made by the same Manufacturer..
I'd go with a Goodman but they didn't have any (All sold out of the GMVC)
So we ended up with the Trane
We had a 40 year old Airco that was Great and still worked but Mom wanted a New one.

We believe proper installation procedures are the most important factor pertaining to how long any furnace will last. Shortcuts can take years off the life of a furnace.

I installed a Goodman GMVC80100 furnace myself. I paid $3000 for the furnace, coil, and 5 ton 16 SEER condensing unit as a package deal. My furnace and coil had to fit in a tiny utility closet so it was toughest installation that I had ever done. I had to connect a pulley to a rafter in the attic to winch out the old coil and lift in the new coil. My electric bill dropped by 40% during the summer with the new equipment. BTW, I don’t like high efficiency furnaces and they’re a total waste of money in the South.

Information is extremely well organized and is easy to understand! I have a question for you. I would like to purchase a energy efficient furnace (95% AFUE or better). Will I be able to find one in each of the 3 categories you talked about or only in the high-end category?

I have an old Homart furnace in my home which recently went out. It's one of those huge furnaces with the Octopus arms going everywhere. The technician came out, re-lit it and now it's fine. He said it was probably some sort of backdraft (?) which blew out the pilot light. But he said I might want to consider replacing it due to its age (40+ years) and that parts for a furnace this old are very hard to find or simply no longer available. I'm sure it's not as fuel-efficient as a new furnace would be, however, the furnace puts out great heat and the heating bills are manageable. The fact that it's old doesn't bother me, however, knowing that parts may no longer be available in the event something major goes wrong is a bit concerning. He gave me a ballpark estimate of between $8,000 - $10,000 to replace it. Do you think this is something I might want to consider just to have peace of mind? Thanks.

I believe you have answered your own question. A new furnace would use considerably less gas. Newer systems are more delicate than old systems.

Hi Josh, I was hoping you could give me some advice. My parents had a new Amana furnace 6 roller (model AMES801205DX installed. Unfortunately they continued to have problems with it. The seller admitted they installed too big of a furnace for their house and replaced it with a Goodman 3 roller (model AMES800604BXAA). They did not receive any refund for the price difference. My dad has dementia and my mom has Parkinson. I think the company took advantage of them, but I can't find the prices for the furnaces. Any feedback you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

They initially installed an 80k btu furnace, and they replaced it with a smaller 60k btu furnace of equal or lesser brand quality. They can charge what they like for a furnace. So I’m afraid if you don’t have anything in writing from them, you don’t have much to go with as far as getting any money refunded. You can however file a BBB report and go through mediation and may be able to get them to give a little. If you get no satisfaction there, you can at least voice your opinions online. I would recommend reaching out to a Manager or Owner of the HVAC company first though.

Hello Josh. I have a furnace in my attic and honestly I don't like the idea of gas and fire in a attic, so I'm thinking about replacing it with a heat pump system. So my question is, is it wise and what are your recommendations? Thank you for your time.

As long as your gas furnace is maintained there is no danger. I would not replace gas furnace for a heat pump.

No. My home in particular is equipped with both a forced air gas furnace/central air unit throughout and also individually controlled base board electric heaters in each bedroom for a more personalized temperature in your own room. The main gas furnace unit however is much more economical on your electric bill.
