- Is it possible to beat Hardcore Nuzlocke using only Pokemon species beginning with the letter "P"? I'll be playing Pokemon White 2 to see if this challenge can be completed! I'll also be playing on Normal Mode instead of Challenge Mode.

The Hardcore Nuzlocke rules for this challenge:
1. Only catch the first Pokemon on each route that begins with the letter P, or evolves into a Pokemon that does.
2. If a Pokemon faints, it must be released.
3. For Gym Battles/E4, must be at the highest Pokemon's level cap at the start of the fight.
4. No items in battle.
5. Play on Set Mode.
6. No Legendaries.
7. Duplicates Clause - I can re-roll an encounter if I have already caught one during the run.
8. Pokemon cannot be evolved if further evolutions don't start with P.
9. Pokemon that evolve into P Pokemon can be used even if they don't start with P (e.g., Tepig)

I never thought I’d see a Petilil carry a team in a hardcore nuzlocke
Just in case you didn't know. Due to a bug, Challenge Mode isn't actually (much) harder. The Pokemon in CM are a higher level, but they have the same stats as if they were the regular level. The EXP you get in CM is updated, however, so you do tend to be a higher level which sort of balances out the updated trainer move sets & items.
In a hardcore Nuzlocke where you go to the level cap, Challenge Mode might actually be easier than Normal Mode since you will always be way above the "real" level of the NPCs' Pokémon.
I would say the increased AI difficulty and improved trainer teams outweigh the couple levels of stat growth, so challenge mode is still noticeably more difficult
And isn't the inverse true? Like "Easy mode" is actually more difficult since you get less money and exp but boss mons still are same strength as Normal
It can be hard to beat the first gym on cm with limited pokemon
The letterlockes are a blessing. Now I kind of want you to go back and re-do a letterlocke you previously failed (but in a different game?) - maybe for a livestream?

For Q, you can get all of them in the Indigo Disc DLC, it might be worth waiting. You should probably choose a game with both Quagsire and Qwilfish in it.

Never would I have expected to see anything as competent as a Fire-Water-Grass core in one of these letterlockes!

Challenge mode might not be as difficult as you think.
While, yes, teams change to stronger ones, it has been found that pokemon with buffed up levels actually have the same stats their "Normal Mode" counterparts have.
This is huge in Hardcore Nuzlockes, as you end up simply having a higher level cap with few downsides.

Ah. This reminds me of when we were kids and my sister was trying to name her Abra in Pearl "Patrick", but she accidentally hit the DS screen on the bed frame, and ended up with it just being named "P". Which, was cause for many a manic giggle when it was thrown into battle and the trainer shouted "Go! P!" :)

That team was super cool.
First, pick Cyndaquil. Then, get the Togepi egg,but keep it for HM Flash since none of the Q Pokemon learns Flash. Then, battle and name him"Sengola". Battle the gym leaders,catch Quagsire(catchable in the wild) and Qwilfish, beat Sengola ,Team Rocket, The Elite Four and the champion, Lance with your 3 pokemon.
So happy to see the next one! Wasnt sure if you were continuing them but here we are!

Still eagerly anticipating the Q episode. Total number of Pokemon with names beginning with Q is very, very short; Quilava, Quagsire, Qwilfish, Quilladin, and in the time since you started these challenges the newly added Quaxly line. In what game are the largest number of these even available?
I feel like it might honestly be Paldea, although it's very poorly balanced for it. Quaxly is able to fully evolve, and alongside Quagsire from the water town being technically available, and I believe Qwilfish is around, that's three lines, which I think is the most at once

Were _any of_ Quilava, Quagsire, or Qwilfish available in the Kalos games?
@@RoninCatholic Quagsire and Qwilfish are available in Kalos, but they're pretty late. I'd personally rather play Johto

Hello Ryan, on challenge mode the levels of the enemy pokemon goes up but the stats not, making you overleveld for the whole run, so dont use it.

I think gym leaders do live in their gym. I mean, they have a gym puzzle as a security system, plus gym trainers as security guards! It's the safest place in the city!

Gym leaders live in one of the buildings in their towns you cant access. They just lock up when they go to work, of course. By taking the door with them.

I understand playing aggressively in the championship, but it does seem like you had a safe switch to Preen. So, Porkchop could have been saved in the last fight unless the AI is goofy and had a chance to use a dragon move.

With the Chesnaught raid coming out, you can use all 7 Q pokemon in gen 9 (unless im forgetting something but i swear theres a way to get a regular wooper, so Quagsire)
@@TheGodIvy you can get a normal Wooper through an in-game trade, that’s how you do it
Doing this in let’s go pikachu would have been so much easier. You start with p and then can get parasect, Psyduck, ponyta, pigeot, primape, poliwrath, and porygon.
