    As someone who is the detailer in a body shop and being trained in painting, 3500 for a spray of that level is crazy. Hope he gets lots of future business!

    Should be plugging the painters name for such a gift. Help him grab some awareness too

    damn, the painter did all that extra work & didn't even get a company shout out/ pop tag, or at least a link in the description??

    This car definitely had some stories to tell. Thanks for helping us make them a bit less noticeable!

    Ferrari refinishing is $100/hr labor and $48/hr materials in TX, in 2020. Water based, UV primers, BASF 90 Line color and BASF Urethane clears, color sand, buff and polish. I admire you and your videos but the Painter got screwed. In my books, he gave away $10,000.00 over the $3500.00 he charged. Ed is a piece of work. The Customer is not always right.

    This is a cool series, and it gets a thumbs up. BUT, but it’s really crappy for Ed to be a total cheapskate and ask others to basically do work for free. That poor painter had to do a lot of work for basically no money. Unless Ed really gives this guy some kudos at some point as advertising, it would hardly be worth it. Esoteric and Obsessed Garage can afford to do things for low cost for Ed as there is some You Tube ad revenue and general advertising, but the poor painter is left with the bag. It will be interesting to see how the painter is represented in the rest of the series. I hope I don’t just have a knee jerk reaction here and it works out for all involved.

      I would have ask the owner (Ed) to come pick up his car. No discounts, no exceptions.

      Agree cheapskate. Ed will be the only one who gets the benefit when he sells the car. Embarrassing

      Ed wanted a good paint job for his car. Esoteric throws the name Ferrari around to charge more money than needed. Does this company treat other customers with Hondas differently? Apparently so...

    You were describing everything that needed to be painted/retouched & I was thinking “how much more to just do the whole car?”

    Working with that kind of unreasonable buget is tough. I'm suprised it was so low given the fact all the 'free' detailing and protection you will be applying over this new paint.

    Thanks for the video...
    After watching the first part, it was obvious that you can’t just touch up the small areas.
    Will you reapply a PPF? It is always pretty risky on repainted parts (layering)...
    Keep it up :)

    So to answer the question in the title of the video: No. This job would cost way more than 3500.

    For a proper repair and to insure the clear coat wont fail the clear needs to be wrapped from panel edge to panel edge. Since there is no natural breaking point or panel break from the A pillar to back bumper if a painter is to fix a spot on the roof of a car like this he has to clear coat the entire roof, both a pillars, and both quarters. His color will stay isolated to the damaged area but clear needs to extend to edge of the panel. So with that being said this painter lost money on this deal because the amount of material that would be needed to do this. Quality clear coat, reducer, and activator is easily $1200 for a gallon of product let alone all his masking material, color, sealer, and time.

    The moral of the story is Scott the painter did the right thing but probably lost his ass! 😬
    Looking forward to the finished product!
    If I was the owner I would’ve left the paint alone and had you guys apply some sort of a wild wrap that included his logos.

  • @brad-zf9oh
    @brad-zf9oh 4 года назад

    Of course its possible. You can do an amazing paint job for even way cheaper than 3,500. Just because its a ferrari doesn't mean it requires some type of special base and clear that cost 5 times as much as other clears and base coats...

  • @easyeagle3730
    @easyeagle3730 4 года назад

    Esoteric wanted 20 hours of labor time to disassemble the Ferrari. They spend 15 hours negotiating with Ed Bolian on the phone.

  • @bfielder9097

    Realistically that's not a $3500 paint job. The painter went above and beyond out of the goodness of his heart, probably bad business but it's what he chose to do. Based on what we're seeing/hearing that's at least double, AT LEAST what he actually paid.
