    You are bringing it with this Ferrari series! The discussion, the planning, the cost, all these things are the meat and potatoes of detailing and that’s before you dive in and create a masterpiece! Thank you for including us in this meticulous process.

      Thank you! This project was a great opportunity to really get into details of the job, the issues, the challenges, and the wants / needs of the customer. Tomorrow night Ed is flying up to visit us, do a public Meet & Greet, and see his car for the first time. We will get video of that process and that will be the final one in the series. I think we're on schedule to release the carbon fiber video on Wednesday, interior video on Saturday, then the final reveal next week. Stay tuned!

    Like I said in another video comment...by far the best presentations on this topic that I have seen in 18 years of youtube. That Konica Minolta meter you are using goes for around 5 grand. How many shops in the USA actually have one? Is it a limiting factor of who I should take my car to? Thank you.

    What compound and polish did you use on this Ferrari second pad was yellow but you use white pad for compounding?

    should've done a MAACO paintjob! I pad $89.99 for mine and don't regret it one bit! Paint looks as good as when when I sharpied it before.

    If you could provide the data points of factory paint / pad / compound & or polish combination to get highest gloss numbers I would pay for that spread sheet.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 года назад +2

      We have a lot of time and money investment into that data, so it stays pretty close to us.

    Thanks Todd for showing, explaining the different procedures and tasks needed to make sound judgements on improving the finish on a customers cars paint, whether it be straight from the factory or second hand like this project. Does the measuring device also measure the paints thickness and softness - hardness or is that a different device as well? And do you take into account the paint thickness and whether it is soft medium or hard? Again thank you from Down Under.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 года назад

      Thank you. There are no measurements available for hardness on these paints, nor is it something that really matters. With the system / process we use, it's exactly the same regardless of paint hardness. And for thickness, it requires a completely different meter.

    What are your thoughts on wet sanding the orange peal off then following up with 2 stage. I got into a pretty big discussion with a brother in law who is a body shop guy.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 года назад

      The painter already did a bit of sanding to flatten it all down, then we did some more spot sanding as well. After that it was mostly a 2-stage process. I wouldn't condone this on OEM paint, but when enough clear is put on in a re-paint, then you're good to do this.

    Out of curiosity without needing to give the process or what vehicle it was done on, what is the highest reading on a gloss reader you've achieved?

    What making tape do you use? Can I just use blue painters tape? Thx

    • @Esotericdetail

      We use Japanese tape from Kamikaze Collection. Blue tape is fine, but not nearly as good. www.esotericcarcare.com/kamikaze-auto-detailing-tape/
