    Great work with the bare metal. Would it have been better to do the bare metal before clear coat and then it would have been sealed in and not at risk of damage when installing the body over the chassis? Whenever I have used bare metal I am always nervous about damaging it with something before the model is finished.

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel

  • @villelipponen923

    Could you just make a template out of masking tape, and cut it more accurately out of the backing paper. Then there would be smaller pieces left for smaller details? Or does the masking tape ruin the foil? I'm interested trying this, since I've done all the chrome details with molotow liquid chrome marker. Works really good on larger surfaces like wheel lips and headlight reflectors. But on window trims, you need masking and all that stuff to make a straight line with marker. Is the foil very fragile, can I just cut thin strips out of it to apply on straight lines?

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  3 года назад

      The foil is fragile and easily nicked/ripped. So masking directly on the foil could damage it. Thin strips can be cut, yes

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  5 лет назад

      The chrome pen does not do the exact same. Its a different method, that cant be used in the same ways as the foil can. I preffer the foil for these kinds of jobs. The pens for the small details like buttons or highlight pieces around a model.

    Do you trim other people's models? My dad doesn't have the patience for this. He could obviously ship it to you, and pay. Please let me know if you're interested. Thank you.

    I just bought two sheets of BMF and it has been a complete nightmare. I have tried your method and various other methods around the web and the only problem I have is that the foil does not stick to my models. I tried with the model painted. I tried with the paint removed. I tried with primer only. Nothing seems to work. I am starting to think that I just got two bad sheets of this thing. Any suggestions? Please!!!!

      Is is the new improved chrome?

      Thank you for the prompt reply !! NO. It is the one labeled 'Ultra Bright CHROME'. I just tried the second sheet today and still no adhesion whatsoever. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong.

    I’ve been building models on and off for 45 years and I absolutely hate BMF. I don’t know what it is but I simply can’t consistently make it look right.

    "Bare metal Foil" or simply adhesive alu foil for 10€ from LIDL, but with much more content on the roll. Absolute the same result. Don´t buy everything they advertise :D
