Mixing up Everything in its Right Place and Maiden Voyage before landing on How Much a Dollar Cost is one of the most gorgeous things I've ever heard in my life
Great concert and beautiful venue that is lit perfectly. The sound and feel is different without Derrick Hodge and Chris Dave. Those guys keep things in the pocket the whole concert but it was refreshing hearing a different bassist and drummer.
I love Robert Glasper, he's one of my biggest influences as an artist myself, but as great as this is, I think I'd have got a little bored listening to every song sang through a vocoder.
I like Casey Benjamin but the vocoder singing gets to be a bit much at times. I’ve been to several RGE concerts and the ones I enjoy the most has a vocalist or rapper for some of the pieces.
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, United States, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime.[1][2][3] Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music, linked by the common bonds of African-American and European-American musical parentage.[4] Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in West African cultural and musical expression, and in African-American music traditions.

The way they performed "Big Girl Body" is dark enough to really do the lyrics and theme justice.

I think Eddie Harris, (Oliver Lake & Albert Ayler as well), would be proud to hear and see Casey play with the Band; i.e. "Listen Here".
Nice.
Anyone know (besides being madly talented) what Burniss uses for his rig? Pickups? Preamp? Compressor? Etc? His tone is UNREAL!!!
Burniss Travis burned the whole crowd. Took them a minute to gather themselves after that solo.
