2021 Subaru WRX manual - REVIEW - last of the breed

- There's going to be a new Subaru WRX next year. You might say 'Good. About bloody time!' And there's no doubt the new car will be stiffer, faster, quieter, more comfortable and more tech'd than the current car. But not all progress is necessarily good progress. Blu wanted to see how outdated the "old" Rex was as it heads into that great retirement garage in the sky. He came away pleasantly surprised.

Cool car. Old school. With stick. Love that. So much more engaging and fun than most what is made these days.
Dead right John. Bang on the money. Be interesting to see if the new version next year is packing duller technology like electric handbrakes and start/stop engine functions. Cheers for watching. Blu.
Kia Ora. Nice review esp. of the driving dynamics. Even without being overly technical, this is insightful and not cliche, unlike some other reviewers. Also appreciate the points about building a bond with the car and the satisfaction of driving a mechanical. Makes me want to own a Subaru again. Confidence in Motion!
Thanks very much for those king words D L. Great to have you watching and feedback. Nga mihi. Blu. 👍
I’m 70 years old and sore - recently ordered a new WRX Premium - Why the f**k not eh? 😎
Glad to hear it. There’s no age limit on having a good time, is there. Cheers for watching. Blu.
Still an incredible car. Thanks for the vid
Cheers Mohamed. You’re entirely welcome.
@@CarNutvideos CHEERS, your channel is one of my best
Miss my "old" STI of the same shape/model. Awesome driving experience but I fell out of love with the shape very quickly. It's long overdue for a new model that would bring Subaru into the current era.
They're still one of the best engineered cars on the road especially from Japan but they hang on to models way too long.
Good to hear your first-person observations Paul. Nice to see your black STi again in the link to my 2016 test of that car and the WRX SLT. Happy days, eh. No one said you can’t go out and get another STi, Paul...!
Looking to buy a 2021 WRX Premium in lapis blue. But considering the STI. This is going to be my first manual, and I’m not sure which I want to really go with.
I just got a 2021 WRX , picking it up Tuesday. I say go for a WRX since it’s your first. I had a FRS before this and I learned stick on it. WRX clutch is super light
@@davidferman51 crazily enough I bought a 2016 Hyperblue edition STI. 131 of 700 made. Already driving really well on the manual. Go figure, who’d have thunk it was easy as balls to drive a stick 😆
ItzUrReaper haha that’s great man! I’m coming from a Scion FRS so the WRX clutch feels super light and squishy but I’ll get used to it
Wrx transmission sucks. Drove one for 4 years. Go with the sti
I don’t see this platform going anywhere, especially with the confirmation that the new STI will remain manual only.
Lol have you seen it?
Need that Alcantara steering wheel for mine.
55000 for a wrx limited...? In USD? Your countries import tax must be extremely high.
Might surprise you to know that the whole world doesn’t use the $US. In New Zealand we have our own. 👍
I think he may just be confused about the exchange rate or unaware that New Zealand also refers to their currency as dollars?
Thanks for another great review Blu! I like the car apart for the try hard STI bits!
Hi there Fat Boy & Drop. You might want to check back on my channel every now and then as I’ll have a review on the WRX STi Saigo that Subaru NZ is currently offering. That should be genuine STi enough for you, I hope. Thanks fir watching. 👍
@@CarNutvideos Will do :-)
It sounds a bit louder and better than the 2017 on your video. What’s it sound like in real life.
Hi Sam. I’m afraid what you hear in the video is pretty much it - in other words, nothing too special. A little bassey-er than most 2-litre cars and slightly more vocal but definitely never shouts “Look st me” to people on the footpath. Cheers for watching Sam.
The question is, is it still worth getting 2021 vs 2022.
Wait for the 22’ unless you’re absolutely in love with this cars design. The 22’ will be a complete refresh of the car
That’s not a 2022 Wrx it’s a crosstrek project car that’s sold fully assembled
@@Thomas-ej2ow I’m sorry but this comment is the saddest thing I’ve seen so far...
audio is a bit shrilly
better wait for the new one IMO
So it’s like a p platers dream? Holden commodore with a HSV body kit, basically 😂😂. If it’s a WRX, not an STI, it shouldn’t be branded as an STI
I OWN THIS CAR NOW HAHA
Good to hear. You’ve got yourself a full car with the Saigo. Thanks for watching and enjoy your new baby. 👍
YOOO ME TOOO 😂
thats my car lmao
S4...
Get a WRX before it all turns to crap 😎
