It's exterior has the iconic FUNCTIONAL hood scoop, and standard 17in wheels. On the inside you will find plenty of room, great visibility and pedal placement that is spot on the money. Just bought a 2020 WRX Base with 6MT. Absolutely love the car. Timeless design and great performance.

I bought a 2020 WRX premium in the middle of the whole virus lockdown in GA. I knew people weren't buying cars so I called around looking to see what the car buying climate was. I got a great deal!!
Congrats! Smart move!
2020 Subaru WRX *base* with some old-school style key start, 6-speed manual and handbrake?! I wouldn't say no to that!!
I know how you feel!
@@RaitisRides the price point is not bad too 👌🏻
@@RaitisRides since you have similar tax to TX what do think is awesome OTD price for base?
@@FATmenDRIVEtrucks In the metro NY area, according to TruCar, few base cars were sold below $26K, with 27K the average. This did not include sales tax. MSRP is $28,395.

I’ve watched this video countless times. I just love WRX’s so much and just keep coming back every few days!
You're killing it, Joe! Keep up the good work!
I bought this car in the crystal white a few weeks ago, base model gives you so much for the money!
How’s the ride quality? I’m coming from a fiesta st so I’m used to a rough ride but I hope the Wrx is a little more comfortable
@@5rocklobsters I came from a focus ST , suspension is a bit on the stiff side but definitely rides a lot better
Joe this car is great...It's a good brand....and I can see that it is made for speed.
Great review Mann...keep them coming
It should be mentioned that the Base WRX is quicker to 60 mph (5.6s vs 6.0s) and has a quicker 1/4 mile (14.0s vs. 14.2s) than the STI priced $9k higher!
Just bought a base WRX crystal white, have to wait a few days for delivery since there's such a high demand for them! This will be my 2nd WRX (had a 2005 in college), can't wait!
I got a base model 2020 couldn’t be happier so amazing
the wrx is not faster in the 1/4 mile. lol

Great review Joe!! I always look forward to your Subaru reviews. Just wanted to say that I would love to see more content on your Type RA!
Great review as always.
Thank you for this review, Joe - very informative. I am planning on test driving one today. I miss having a stick shift - I haven't had one in 13 years. :(
Great video. The WRX and STi are mature experienced cars that have been through many versions to perfection. It was my #2 behind the Mitsubishi EVO which was stupidly killed off. The WRX and STi are what I define as driving pleasure and currently best value for money.
Good points!
Hi Joe!!! I had a Mini Cooper R53 2007 JCW!! Once it reached 155k, I trated it for a brand new wrx, exactly the one you reviewed!! I love it ! It is simple and yet, tons of fun !!

That is so very awesome my frined!
Great review Raiti’s!!! I can’t wait for the 2021 Subaru STI. I heard great things about the FA engines. I’m still stuck on the EJ engines.
In love with these cars . Just picked up a 2021 pure red wrx limited . It has a cvt tho. With good reasons I needed to go that route . Grew up with standards . Spent time in the military . Destroyed my left knee . Just can’t handle a clutch after knee replacement . But there is no doubt the value and fun times driving !
Congrats man!
Probably more reliable in the long run. I’ve got a 2010 hatch and after a brutal leg day I wish I had an auto lol
@@Kyle3x Well Subie is the only one that does HT-CVT and it seems to be reliable on most of the vehicles. Its up their after Toyota.

Amazing review as always! Love the jokes you put here and there.
I’m gonna say heck yeah too!! Love Subaru’s, thank you for the review. Looking at getting myself a brz but the wrx they are gorgeous cars. I’ve already owned two so that’s why I’m thinking the brz, currently I have a forester xt I’m keeping that one, need a sportier car 💙
Brz are more expensive and much much slower lol
The WRX is a great value for $25K. The two best snow cars on the market are Audi and Subaru. No other manufacturers build AWD technology like these two companies. There is nothing better than ripping through the snow with a performance engine, AWD and a six speed. Great review!
As I believe I've mentioned before, In my years at Honda, I knew several, "Techs", that drove Subaru's, as their daily driver!
Hey look! There's Tom, getting a co-starring role, in the cars reflection!
I guess that's about as close as we'll get, to get him out from behind the camera! 😰
You can't go wrong with this cars reputation, and for the price, a solid base model value!!
Thanks Joe, and your co-star, for another great review, on this Subaru! 🏁🏁
Thanks for sharing that Donald! I really appreciate your support!
Joe, enjoyed your review and always watch your channel! The WRX is a good car for the price and performance. You crack me up with the zonks, Twinkies and on throttle comments😂. In fact when I drive my HC Charger, I now say On throttle!! and mash the gas! Keep up the great work !
I just bought this in BLUE today! I'm so happy!
Raiti’s rides doing another Subaru video. Don’t question it. You click like and enjoy the video.
You are awesome my friend!
You got a new subscriber. Keep it up!
This is by far the bestt bang for your performance buck on a new vehicle. Not to mention throwing in AWD and 4 doors for that money
Back in November, test drove an SI, GT86, and WRX (base). Ended up with the WRX, and I feel that I have made the best choice for me. Absolutely spot on for bang for the buck! Enjoyed watching your reviews, especially the WRX ones. And you're right about the community. Coming from motorcycle community, where we all wave at other riders, I feel at home with the WRX ✌️
How’s the car handling?
Funny what you said about the peanut m&ms in the center console because I have some in my ‘20 WRX lol
Joe keep the video coming
You got it!
Love it! I bought a brand new WRX wagon way back in 2003. Such a fun car. Yeah, it had the circular bug-eyed headlights but I have a soft spot for that design. I think it was a lot more unique looking and it really stood out from crowd. And I wish they still made a WRX hatch. But I can see myself trying to get one of these later this year if the dealers are desperate to move inventory and deals can be had. My wife and I went car shopping back in January (pre-shutdown) and the dealers were not dealing! Hopefully that will change with all that's going on.
That was the best design for me, the wagon is beautiful
Very cool Andrew!
@@alexcoyg3281 I totally agree with you!
As you climb the charts Raiti, don't forget to keep your focus on base models. Most people buy base models. The TRD Pros, the STIs, the Type S and Type Rs are halo cars meant for the few who can put down the money for such a thing.
I will always do my best to bring all the different trims!
Hey Joe, back to my favorite car brand!
Keep good work
Your prices are fantastic. A base manual WRX in Australia costs around $45K registered on the road, plus extra for comprehensive car insurance, maybe $47K all up. My Premium with CVT and all the electronics, cost $58K all up.
I just bought one on May 7th and I love it!
Congrats Eric! What color did you go with?
@@RaitisRides I went for the white Pearl. I watched many of your videos amongst others while trying to make a decision between the civic si and gti. So thanks for all the car videos, keep it up!
Just got mine last month, absolutely love it! I have found the clutch-pedal is higher than I am used to, that has been an adjustment for me, but overall, I love this car (previously had leased VW GLI for the past 10 years).
@Dale Macarena ➊ they were 3 different GLIs!
For the price i would say yes great deal for 25k compared to the Honda Si at the same price point. As always great review my friend. 👍🏼
Yeah I would much rather have this than the new weaker si
Thanks for saying that and letting me share it with you!
@@jamesc9897 AGREED!
I dont own an SI, but when I was looking a year ago there was discounts and special financing available which brought the price down to around $21k. The SI also comes standard with many features you can only get in the premium/limited WRX.
I test drove the 2019 sport tech package wrx witch is the limited basically in Canada and a 2019 civic Si and going from the Rex to si was like going into the future we also got the LED headlights on the si from the get go and also wireless charging pad and heated back seats driving wise I felt like the boost was more linear in the Si and wrx it came on early and fell off quick. I did like the AWD though. As far as the gearbox goes the throws in the Si were short and notchy PS I own a AP1 S2k for ten years but looking to get something family friendly but fun. Would love to hear other ppls thoughts on this esp Raitis rides saying this is the best bang for you buck.
Hey Joe, awesome review as usual. Pls put some subtitles in metric system, I always have to pause and look up for the weight in kilograms. You must have a huge audience out of US too, I imagine everyone would appreciate it ;)
A nice first car for a young man trying. To get into the car community
AGREED!
A lot better options for 25k with much better Interior
Miko_Pure This WRX option actually isn’t that bad in terms of a new car. If you’re talking used car market that doesn’t count, what else new car could you get for $25,000 that’ll put out 268hp?
BoldNewBranFlakes They go for 28k here in Cali . Now I have more options to work with
Miko_Pure youre not trying hard enough in cali. I got mine in Northern California for 25k before tax. And if interior is that big of a deal to you buy a gti
Sup Joe. I was at the park walking some laps 💪🏽🔥 .
Yea this is my next car hope at the end of this year
The base WRX with the short throw shifter option and you're pretty much golden.
Its the best for me it has a good power also good looking and can blend well and roomy even for a family
8:08 That little space fits about 8 Twinkies. This man knows his priorities.
You can easily put 8 twinkies without squeezing cream anywhere...got me sold right there 👍
Lol omg joe those snack phrases lol they r too damn funny... great review good looking car

My foglights are sitting in a box 📦 in my garage closet lol, and I always hear, 'the 2015+ look like a gc' and I agree.
This one looks delicious Joe. 😊
I live in upstate New York and I just bought a brand new 2020 WRX base model for about 28 grand but they snuck in a front sti lip in it I love the car I just got done putting on a borla S-Type dual Cat-Back exhaust last night on it boy she screams now
Now we are talking Michael!
It’s hard to beat a WRX, even a base model. Are you still enjoying your RA? You should know this car like the back of your hand. Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I totally agree with you Larry! I am still loving my RA. You are so very right!
what does RA mean?
@@terrorriizz He is referring to the Type RA version they released. RA stands for Record Attempt.
Great job Joe! As usual of course. My question to you.... Spending your own money.... You buying this or an SI for your daily driver? Is Subaru considered reliable for long term ownership?
It reminds me of a jade stone... very nice
Love the WRX's
One of the many reasons why I like you!
@@RaitisRides lol
Wow $25k for this car is a pretty reasonable price.
I have been wondering when someone was going to finally make this review. At $ 25K, this is by far the best value (civic Si, GTI etc included) for just $ 675 Cobb Accessport/Tune and a $250 muffler delete, this transforms and easily keeps up w most cars that cost twice. I know this because that's exactly what I did 5 years ago and haven't looked back!
I am so glad that I can bring it to you!
Pain Killer the extra 20 hp stage one gives this is not going to allow is not going to allow it to keep up with a 50 grand vehicle. And why would you get a muffler delete if you want your car to perform better. Its purely for sound
@@EulogizingSleep Here is a simple breakdown for you. Muffler delete is only for sound yes, that's why you would get it, that's pretty obvious. I never said it gives extra power. Stage 1 doesn't only give extra power, it moves the powerband since stock tune was awful when it came to torque/hp, as the car ran out of gas at higher RPM. When it comes keeping up w 50k cars.... Well not going waste time listing them, you can do some research yourself.
can you post a 0-60 of yours with the accessport? I come from driving an 06 sti and and rs, the 18 and 20 wrx felt so lame. I'm really curious how the basic ap tune acts for it?
Can wait for mine to be delivered I got the base 🔥
I got a 2020 base myself. 0 regrets it’s the way this car should be purchased. I optioned kicker speakers, all weather floor liners, door sill plates and a sti short shifter. Idk about 25k maybe if you get 0 options added to it. Sticker on mine was 30,095 and I paid 28k flat. Dealer invoice was 28,375. Perks of having family work for SOA
i wish they would bring back the hatch :( I liked the hatch. It really looks sportier

i didn't even know you turned it on.... i was like wait, he reved while the car was off?!?!?! that shit quiet
i wish i could subscribe to Raiti's Rides more than once.
Did you notice less rev hang on the 2020 then on the previous 2015-2019 models?
15:31 “And the best part is, you’re part of “The Club” as people want to be a part of our club and actually crash into us almost head on” that was smooth.
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
@@RaitisRides I just got a 2020 WRX premium. As I was driving home (getting used the manual Transmission) I hear a another WRX coming down the road beeping their horn at me, the driver rolled his window down, waved, and took off! It was almost like a welcome to the club wave. Best feeling ever!
I picked up a base model with the same color 2 weeks ago (As of may 10) and it’s honestly a great car for what it costs!!
How is first gear - any bother with rev hang at all?
I like the White WRX Premium.
Nice for the price just hard to find for that price. And that passenger door armrest was crazy badly assembled it looked like - really looked wavy 😱
I own a 2018 WRX base and you were spot on with this review. It’s such a barebones drivers car with no intrusive tech to get in the way. Cars like the Si are nice but they have killer rev hang, annoying safety features, and no manual parking brake. I was curious though, how’s the rev hang in the car. I’ve heard that Subaru reduced the rev hang for the 2020 model year but don’t know if that’s true. Regardless, most people tune it anyway.
I own a 2020 and it still hangs revs like my 2011
You can’t beat the price but the start up makes me appreciate my stang 🤣
I used to own a 2018 STI. I traded it in for a 2019 Legacy Limited Edition due to traveling 90 miles round trip for work. Now with the current health pandemic and living 5 minutes from work I do not drive much anymore. Once I relocate to Florida permanently, I will seek out another STI for keeps.
Owner of an '18 STi here. I'm curious what issues you had that made you trade it in? I DD mine, though my trip is significantly less than yours was. I have done some long trips without much fatigue. I absolutely love the handling! Cheers!
R1Armadill0 -I did not have any issues with car. I did not tweak the engine but added exterior items such as stickers, etc... I work in CA. The price of premium gas was $4.10 a gallon at the time. It added up quickly. Every fourth day I was filling up the car.
Hey Joe! Is this a good beginner car for youngsters like me? BTW love your vids!

@@RaitisRides For sure!! Love my Subarus’ happen to own two myself! 🤟🏾
I still cannot believe the choice of those standard wheels blegh. Here in Aus, all models of the wrx come with the nicer 18inch ones
If anybody is on the fence I've had my 2018 wrx for almost 3 years now. 44k miles in and i still dont regret a thing. Dont wait to go Stage 1 cause as soon as i did I regretted not doing it sooner. Shes an entirely different car with the cobb tune
That's awesome to hear! I'm debating on waiting for the next one, but a few years after it's released, so I can save up and hopefully any issues could be ironed out.
choosing this or the Audi RS3 or S3 due to price....wow they (AUDIs) really cost big money. Seems Subaru WRX is a great value. Also comparing the BMW M2 or the Camry SE? Seems so far the WRX manual or CVT is best price and high enough fun factor - ..great work and thank you very much!!!
With the new model coming out on the global platform, might be worth the wait for that one.
... But this is why this cheap WRX is great value. New platform and design will probably start at ~$28K minimum.
Good luck due to the pandemic we wont see that for a while

Is the best car for your money! I use to own a 2018 sti, I have to trade my sti for a 2019 wrx because I want to lower my payments to buy a house the I bought for my family! But let me tell the fun the I have in my wrx now is crazy! Is tune by theshopct by mike the car is making 330hp to the wheels! Full bolt ons, I just put a tomei exhaust and it sounds amazing with the invidia j-pipe! Do i miss my sti no because I know I wasn’t going to do that in the sti scared of blowing the engine and I didn’t have 5,000 in my package to fix it just in case the dealer was not going to take care of the car! Yes the sti is a more complete car than the wrx! Is a big difference day and knight! But if you know your limited and want to play with your car the wrx is The cheapest way now is to keep the car stock go for the sti all day!
Thanks for sharing that great ownership input.
BMO I know he works in theshopct in Connecticut!
I cant believe it! Here in my country Perú, his cost is surrounding 36 thousend!
zonk on the equal length headers, but Tomei recently released a UEL for the FA, doubt there would be any gains though
Tbh, for my money, I’ll take this over the sti because the WRX engine is a modern new engine released in 2015, but the sti engine been released since 2004 and it’s still being used in the new sti, the WRX stock exhaust sounds louder than the sti stock exhaust, also I can build my WRX and convert it into an sti with the wing install, coilovers, Brembo brakes, wheel swap, fog light delete and make the it air functional, the old Impreza WRX seats, exhaust swap, rear bumper third braking light installations, and tuning. The sti is the same WRX but tuned and modified straight from the factory rather than by the owners. So if you’re an diy enthusiast, then get the WRX and avoid the sti because the WRX is an customizable and tunable car. So my money is going for the wrx.
I wanna ride in a car that joe is test driving. That’s what I want for my birthday lol
You would love it!
Was looking at wrx or 2020 Si. Wrx gas mileage sucks 18 city gets worst when driving hard like 15mpg ugh. 25 hwy has to be premium, Also if u get flat u need to change all 4 tires , bad for differentials. Si get 28 city even with tune, 38 highway on 87 gas Si u can use Ktuner 240hp no all wheel drive issues and better mpg. Si 1.5 can do easily 300hp with new clutch ,ktuner
You are so very right.
My next car after I pay off my Type R and trade in my 13' Impreza

Base WRX is $29,000 at my local dealership
...then taxes and dealer fees.
you know you can talk them down from that price right?
The dealer I bought mine from had it listed for 27600 and i walked out paying 25
MITCXHELLXGEIST mine premium was 31,000 but got it for 28,000. Good deals
Can’t beat that for 25K
Hey Joe, did Subaru fix the rev hang for the 2020? That's the one thing I hate about mine, shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. But I have learned to manage it. Roads in Ohio can be terrible, especially in my city. Wished we had roads like Florida.
I would consider a WRX as my next car, but as I commute 70 kms a day, I have to knock this off. I would consider a base model Legacy or the next trim up, but I’m not a fan of Subaru ‘s infotainment system.
