You can actually escape a Reaper with just your Seaglide. You need to look at it and time it so that you dodge it when it goes for the attack by swimming in a 90 degree angle relative to it's direction and then parallel to it (so you will end up behind it). After that swim as far as you can or as close to a place it can't reach. Be careful to not fall on it's claw things (I don't remember how they are called) while you dodge. If you don't manage with one try then repeat until you do.

I have crashed into a reaper and I mean crash with my seaglide and survived because the seaglide is quite enough to not be heard by the reaper I guess

8:52 If I'm not mistaken the Reaper is almost completely blind. I think it can only detect light changes and maybe very rough formation changes. But I could be off on this one

Reapers aren't a real biological thing. When you get close to a Reaper entity, it will regularly ask a random number generator whether the creature should go after you, and what exact animation to play or which attack mode to use. Actually all the creatures share common base classes, and each creature has Friendliness/Curiosity/Hunger/Aggression/... values that determine the behavior towards the player. There's also a hearing sensitivity value, which is particularly high for Reapers, so they are easily attracted when you drive around in a Seamoth for example.
The only thing that sets the Reaper apart from other Subnautica creatures is the ability to grab your Seamoth or your Exosuit (aka PRAWN).
@@graealex I'm talking about in-universe explanations. Stuff I learned from the PDA entry on the Reaper. Not it's coding in the game file
@@Mr.Manta5988 Then it's still not true - the PDA entry doesn't mention anything about bad vision, plus the reaper has two pairs of rather evolved eyes.
What the PDA mentions though is the usage of echolocation. Which I guess it used because even with good eyes, murky water only allows acoustic vision.
I'd compare it to dolphins. They have really good eyesight, yet still employ echolocation. Their eye placement is also similar to that of a reaper, although they are classified as carnivores, so basically hunters.

I went to the big wreckidge and drowned, came back to see my prawn under ground. It was a sad day for the prawn.

2:38 I can relate. You just want to explore a cave and they literally hide in the darkest places where you can't see them, and when you need cave sulfur you literally have to hunt them down. My girlfriend is a really good cook, and she already has ideas for "Bladderfish bread" and "Ghost roast". Maybe a "Crashfish cake" would be cool. i should recommend that to her before she uses the C for "Cuddlefish Cupcakes"

i once got my seamoth in the ground and it had the shield generator in it and did not scan it
I end up swimming in my sea base and cyclops every time I save and start the game inside lmao
I found a glitch in subnautica 1 where you get a scanner room drone and position in in the building blueprint then finish the blueprint and now you can full examine the player model
My base love doing that when I load into the game it's like i'm underwater and this happens when i'm in the cyclops
Hey! You REALLY need to try doing a Dall-E thing where you put in "lovecraft" or something related to that, and Subnautica, or anything from there. I got some INSANELY AWESOME results!!!
wouldn't it be cool for there to be a merged subnautica game, where you can go from the crater edge to sector zero. i get that since it's halfway around the planet it would take 3.5 years to get there but there could be more phasegates. there could also be new stuff between the two. Like having the ability to freely explore 4546B in the third game, as well as the unnamed one in bz.

For the water physics in your base, you can dolphin leap with your Seaglide, there's a chance the game will act like your in the water but you're in your base.

Update: that boat concept you liked seems like it could fit pretty well in below zero’s part land/part water map. A mini base and boat that can drop its cabin into the water and detach it. Actually, I need it!!

I HATE these things. The look disgusting, they are really fast and the make terrifying noises.
Reapers? No problem, a little bit of perimeter defense system zapping and it runs away like a scared doggy.
Ghost leviathans? The same.
But these abominations not, they zap you right back and then eat you. With their stomach in their head of course...

I wish the prawn suit had a vacuum arm. Then you could just point it at what you wanted to pick up and it would get sucked into your Prawn suit inventory. It would be like playing Slime Rancher.
My prawn suit also decided to bury itself in gun island. But the glitch that’s pissing me off right now is the one where you go all the way to the lava zone and you build a reasonably nice base so you can relax and watch the sea dragon swimming around and then the sea dragon just phases through the rock and leaves. Like one minute you’re having to keep an eye out for it when you’re adding rooms and the next you realize it’s quiet, too quiet, and your sea dragon is gone forever.
Slime rancher in subnautica i like it.
Happens to me with the Ghost Leviathan, but I DO know the Sea Dragon does that too. Explains how I never saw it: probably just phased into a wall or something. I could HEAR it, but never see it

ones i went ¨exploring¨ and got into the dunes and as a 9 year old kid i didnt understand what reapers were.I got traumotized.And around 2 months after that evrytime a would only just see something that remotely had to do with subnautica i would get a nightmare.(A bad one at that.)
