About Subnautica:
Subnautica is an open world survival game in development by Unknown Worlds Entertainment.
Subnautica allows the player to explore an aquatic alien planet by scuba diving and traveling in ,
while collecting resources and food to survive. It was released on Steam Early Access on December 16, 2014.
The Xbox release was in August 2016.
The player controls in first-person view the lone survivor of a crashed ship on an aquatic planet.
The main objective of the player is to explore the open world environment and survive the dangers of the planet, while also continuing the story.
Subnautica allows the player to collect resources, construct tools, bases, and submersibles, and interact with the planet's wildlife.
Players must keep themselves adequately hydrated and fed, and must also maintain their oxygen supply while traversing underwater.
They disvocer remnants of the Precursors, an anchient alien species, that used to live on the planet, massive structures and recieve mysterious signals by a strange entity.
The development team opted to use the Unity engine rather than Spark, the engine used for the company's previous game,
Natural Selection 2. Subnautica producer Hugh Jeremy justified this decision because of the different demands that the game places on the engine,
and "because [the team] does not include people working on Spark, it's not appropriate for Subnautica to use Spark. By using Unity for Subnautica,
Spark can continue to develop in certain directions, while Subnautica develops in others. To use Spark for Subnautica would be to try and square peg a round hole."
Subnautica was released on Steam Early Access on December 16, 2014.
Subnautica was originally planned to be released on Xbox One on April 1, 2016, but was ultimately delayed by another month.

I would’ve preferred a Sunbeam ending where if you disabled the QEP before they arrive, you see them coming in and then their engines fail and they plummet into the void and your PDA says “Well, that was unfortunate”

i think it would have been bone chilling to not get any radio messages from sunbeam, only your pda telling you that they are coming into orbit so you go above water looking for them and they are about to land suddenly a green beam that you have no idea where it came from shoots it out of the sky. That gives you the gargantuan curiosity to find where the beam came from.
That would make a good mod
The sound of the gun firing when you’re not at the island is scary for some reason. Just seeing the green beam and hearing the faint noise, watching the sunbeam be obliterated is creepy to me
For the sunbeam explosion I couldn’t see crap because it was night for me lol

As far as I know it ALWAYS sets the timer to tick down when its day, so you must have set the time to day/night at some time while the countdown for the sunbeam arriving was going on.

0:25 Bladderfish used to be called Airsacs, which is to this day referenced in their name in the Spanish version.
This happens only in the first subnautica, their name is Aerosaco (aero as in air and saco as in sack). But in Below Zero their name is Pez Vejiga (Pez is Fish and Vejiga is Bladder)

The terraforming actually worked and you could spawn it in until they started working on below zero
I remember it working too, do you know exactly why they made it stop working? When I used it it was not laggy or buggy worked perfectly fine
It used to work but not save any of the terrain changes, so after reloading a save the terrain goes back to normal. The saving terrain feature is what got it removed in the first place since loading saved terrain would cause massive lag.

I think the info on the bladder fish actually says that it gives oxygen. I've been using them for this all along :)

Honestly, I don't miss the terraformer. It was an interesting idea, but I think having having the tool at a player's disposal would have been too game breaking. The devs have stated in interviews that Subnautica is not about the player, it's about Planet 4546-B, and the player is just along for the ride after the Aurora crashed. That is why all the 'combat' mechanics around hostile fauna are based around distraction, defense and evasion rather than fighting. If they were openly based on fighting, the game would be about you overcoming the planet, not surviving. It's the same thing with the terraformer. By bending the terrain to fit your needs, the game is once again, now about you overcoming the planet, and not trying to survive a hostile world. I played around with a terraformer once in creative (when it still had limited functionality), and although it was kinda fun digging straight down to the LR, after a few minutes, it didn't feel like I was playing subnautica to me. It just kind off...broke the atmosphere that I love Subnautica so much for.

the sunbeam secret ending is actually easy to get, just dont answer your radio and theyll never show up, then just listen to their transmissions after disabling the gun

At the bottom of the bladderfish's data entry on the PDA, it says that if you eat it you will regain oxygen (I'm pretty sure).

Just suddenly knowing a giant lazer is there without the buildup of finding the base and watching it transform.
I was in the void one time when sunbeam came and i was deep and you can see the smoke cloud from litterly anywhere on the map
in one of the builds the terraformer worked I remember using it to try to build a island
One other thing I discovered recently is that bonesharks get attracted to light (says it in the bottom of the scan details)
Edit:also if you scan a reaper it says in the same point that if you can hear it then it can see you

I feel like another reason terraforming might not have been added is how it could cause issues in the story’s pacing and break the game. Like, imagine using it to release the sea dragon from the lava zone (that would legit be pretty funny though) 😅
I was a scaredy cat the first time I played subnautica. So the first time sunbeam arrived I had just crafted the seaglide. Yeah that speech will stay with me for quite some time.

The air bladder is one of the fastest ways to ascend in the game. Inflating the air bladder while looking up and swimming forward while also holding the space bar seems to me like the fastest legit way to surface in the game.

I felt like it was a trap and there were reapers over there so I decided I wasn’t gonna go so I’m one of the few people who didn’t go to the Sunbeam on my first play through

It's more scary when your not at the mountains when the sunbeam comes. Mostly cuz it's being narrated by the ai.
Honestly I thought that the terraforming was just a fever dream of mine cause all of my friends who played the early access didn't remember it.
There are some mods that re-add it in. Of course, these mods make sure to let you know that terraforming is very unstable and can cause a lot of lag as precaution.

You can use the propulsion cannon to pick up a crashfish and make them explode on whatever you make it hit
They are good when you put them in the bio reactor too
I have an entire large room dedicated to breeding crashfish in captivity only to use them as biorector fuel
I plan on using those crashfish as projectiles when I get the prawn suit propulsion cannon arm thing

Watching videos and looking at pictures, i always expected the aurora to be a 2 dimensiononal image on the horizon that slowly sinks into the water and eventually disappears. First time playing and noticing it changes perspective had me really confused.

It says in bladder fish section of your pda (unlocked when you scan the bladder fish) that oxygen can be reclaimed upon consumption, that's how we found out about it.
Still Remember EatMyDiction playing it all the way back in december 2014 then in 1015 Jack (April 2) Wade (April 10) Bob (June 13th) IGP (26 Aug) and Mark (Dec 24). Fond memories.
Still sucks that cantact with the Sunbeam is still canonically lost (Unexplained Ion signature PDA in the mines).
I deactivated the weapon that destroys sunbeam after i receive the message with the timer and the timer becomes negative, and now i have a permanent beacon on the island with a negative timer

The way you find out about the bladder fish is if you scan it and read its description it tells you that you can regain Oxygen by eating it
The Bladderfish one is in the game, it’s in the assessment in the Bladderfish PDA entree.
in the ending when you are on the ship, you can see the Subnautica: Below Zero map on the planet which was a teaser for the game
Don’t know if you’ll read these 2: i had sunbeam telling me they didn’t see me in the landing site. 2 it is easy to delay sunbeam arrival and infection if you don’t repair radio (once you get to the research facility is unavoidable)
I could be wrong about this but I have a feeling people finding out the Bladderfish could give oxygen has to have come from people playing it during Early Access. The Bladderfish was originally called a AirSack if I remember correctly. It could be turned into filtered water for 20 thirst or be eaten raw and give back I think 15 seconds of oxygen. However this was back when it was really in Early Access, as when JackSepticEye first played the game back in 2015 it was called a AirSack, but the name was later changed to Bladderfish either in late 2015 or early 2016, I can't remember when. However the Subnautica Wiki does mention this information, while the game sorta mentions it within the PDA provided for the Bladderfish if you scan it. The PDA mentions that due to the Bladderfishes unique membrane around its spinal structure it is able to filter seawater and air accordingly. Due to this the Bladderfish has control over it's buoyance, which is also why compared to the other fish the Bladderfish is more buoyant. So while the PDA doesn't just straight up tell you that you can eat the Bladderfish for a little bit of oxygen, it does at least sorta mention it.
However one thing that was also removed from the game back when they had to drop terraforming was the ability to dig sand. Honestly just like the terraforming tool, I thought being able to dig sand was also a great concept and it led people to making some pretty interesting bases. Now I followed the game during it's Early Access stages back in early 2015 and didn't get it until I think late 2015, before hand I had supported it by watching other people playing it. I have personally always been a fan of the game, and it's nostalgic watching older videos of the game, or seeing people playing the game for the very first time. Also if I remember correctly, however it has been many years so I could be wrong, but the original design for the terraform tool is the design that ended up being used for the flashlight. I don't remember the current design officially being used in the game, so I think they probably changed the look after the tool was removed from the game and left as a dev only tool. Unless they maybe fiddled with it without telling people and tried to find a way to make it more stable, idk though. Of course I could also just be wrong and maybe they did change the design for a brief while before removing the ability all together.
Okay I made a tiny little error which I didn't notice until launching the game for the first time in about half a month, but the game does actually tell you that eating the Bladderfish raw will give you oxygen. However it will only tell you this information if you scan the Bladderfish, as it is the very last passage within the PDA for the Bladderfish. The complete information upon scanning the Bladderfish is as follows...
"This unusual herbivore appears to be mostly defenseless, and bears little resemblance to the other lifeforms around it.
1. Semi-permeable Bladder
The Bladderfish is able to filter air and seawater into its body cavity through a unique membrane which surrounds its spine like a bladder. This allows it to remove and consume organic particulate caught on the way, and adjust its buoyancy.
2. Open-ended Vascular Tubing
Can be angled and contracted to pump out water and achieve low-velocity, guided propulsion.
Largely oblivious to threats, and practically immobile at night, it's only identified defense mechanism is that it's composed almost entirely of water, and and cartilage.
Assessment: Edible (oxygen may be retrieved from the bladder and added to tanks on consumption); membrane has applications as a natural water filter."
Fun fact about the cuddlefish: its not actually from the planet its from a different planet and was brought over by the architects
