Funny thing is I grew up in the 80's and didn't pay INXS much attention. I liked their music but not like now. I guess getting older and nostalgic is making me realize what a great band INXS was. Too bad he's gone.
Same here. I actually feel bad about it. Just recently I've listened to some songs that were never even played in the U.S. and I'm wondering why they weren't, because they are great. One of those songs is called "Time".
What a front man! He moved like a cat, slinky, sure in what he did. Hard to find a guy like that. God I miss him. We played this in a band, and I was so happy playing this. RIP INXS and Michael H.
this Aspen gig is probably one of INXS's best concerts. without a doubt. they sound amazing, and Michael looks and sings like he's still 27 years old! can't believe this was the year he died. what a loss!
I'll never forget the night my wife and I saw this legend in Saint Louis. Two events marked this night forever in our memories, one was when I ran her up close just as Michael jumped off the stage, she stood next to him amazed as he continued singing. The second was as we were leaving this show, just walking out with the crowd news was broadcasting over the speakers that Princess Diane had just been killed in Paris France. "Don't Change" is my favorite INXS jam...
No one knows what he was going through towards the end of his life and what happened in that hotel room. What is chilling is the Revelations of a brain injury years before that instantly changed him. The custody hearing Paula was going through kept him from his daughter, then alcohol and drug combination. So sad.
I never knew this. I loved this song since it's inception now I am hit hard knowing this about him because i have suffered several years under the near exact same emotionally painful circumstances.
Too all the posters who commented that Michael looks "high"...or "out of it"...I would like to first ask you....how many concerts have YOU performed? Night after night, song after song, dancing, keeping your voice clear and on key? Then, I would like to point out that this was the last song they performed in their shows, so he'd already been singing and dancing under hot lights for an hour. Go back and look for the itinerary (you can find it online) of their last tour. Go find the interview with Jon Stewart that was done shortly before his death. He is lucid, healthy and happy, but of course there are people who "read" into some of his comments. Everyone is a critic. I personally know someone who had INXS perform at his club, one of the last shows before they went back to Australia, and literally days before Michael passed. He was fine, he was lucid...he did get fucked up after the show, like a great majority of entertainers, particularly rock musicians, do. Suicide and accidental death are speculations that were not supported by any of the coroners findings...he said, very clearly, "It is my opinion". The only ones who know what really happened that night are the ones who were there. And some of us have our own speculations, which will be brought to light soon enough...and THOSE speculations make a helluva lot more sense than what the media has fed us. I just ask that all of the INXS fans keep an open mind, remember him for who and what he was, a sweet and generous man, who loved his family and friends, his daughter, women in general, and, of course, his poetry and music.... and don't focus on the ugly bullshit.
I'm a huge fan of this video; I have watched it a couple thousand times. He sang each song this night with a specific demeanor. He was performing the song exactly how he wanted, and this particular performance remarkable. Sher if you are on Facebook, I invite you to join the Australian INXS Michael Hutchence group! It's a great time. Hope to see you there!
I do not care what it looks like in the video or how he died. I just care he is gone never to write a song or sing again. I still feel like crying after almost 20 years. Be seeing you on flip side Michael!
His life was taken because he knew too much and a very powerful, very corrupt and very connected enemy, who was knighted and connected to the royals, wanted what he had.
He was in a serious bad shape at that time. His reputation as a bad boy plunged deeper into the ocean when he got involved with Paula Yates... Then that messy divorce court thingy plus the press. Sigh. I wish people around him could have advised him better, say like quit drinking and stuff. Alcohol plus TBI are just big no-no.
Thank God for INXS. A song that was not a favorite, "What You Need" ,but was the first song on the album I absolutely loved, "Listen Like Thieves, the record, saved my life, as soon as I heard the first notes I was smiling and up on my feet, I realized that I could still feel happiness even though I had never been more miserable . That song is in my DNA
Michael's voice is truly amazing. There will never be another beautiful Michael, nor an outstanding musical INXS band. They made me love being a teenager in the 80's.So glad I lived in their rockn' roll generation;D
He was so pedantic, exceptional, and original, an artist. I wouldn't change anything about it. He was perfect and will be remembered as such. An extraordinary soul. 🙏🕊️✨💙✨
I can never get enough INXS!!! I can compare 100 different performances and each time all I think is losing Michael H will forever be such a great loss!😞
Despite whatever emotional troubles Michael Hutchence may have been harboring at this time, during this performance I still see a true star exuding tremendous charm and sex appeal even at this late stage of his career.
@Sandra Jones I read Alexander Constantine's book on suspicious rock star deaths a few years ago, and, although I do not remember all the details, I am inclined to agree that Hutchence was likely murdered. I seldom mention it in casual discussion only because it is a complicated case, and I know that most INXS fans are reluctant to go down that dark rabbit hole.
Knowing what Michael was going through at this moment, makes this song very haunting. Such a positive song, but knowing that there was a man that was completely lost singing it. A terrific song. Terrific band.
I agree,as I think this was one of his Last concerts, and it saddens me,because you can see it all over him...He still preformed as always so amazing. .but the sadness was slowly wearing him down. Very sad to watch how his energy was affected, but he always pulled it through. ❤
This concert was Feb 4 1997. Their first concert in 3 years. They were excited to be performing together again. Michael needed the distraction. I think he was happy to be here.
Hmmmm this guy was killed that suicide thing was just a cover up. People who knew him very well said he was ok and never had any suicidal thoughts and was a very smart energetic man.
in 1997, i was on the board for the Kansas City Festival Commission, and out big, 3 day festival was Labor Day weekend. i had remembered seeing this special in February, and knew they were gathering up for a "comeback" tour of sorts. So i asked for permission to pursue INXS for Friday Night Headliner, and received it. i called their agency to find if they were open on that date, and would they be interested. i was told they would call back the following day. In the meantime, i was told what i could offer them, and i could book them. The call came the next day thumbs up, so i signed them. Fast forward to Labor Day weekend...around Sept. 5th. Hutch had severely sprained his ankle, but took the stage and commanded it like a champ. When all was over, he came out, and we sat and talked for a really long time...Movies, Music, Life and all the pretty birds milling about. It was the most sincere talk i have had with any Major Musical Artist, it was like we had been friends, and were just catching up, it was very nice, and he was kind, funny as fuck, and just a down to earth guy, believe it or not. As we sat there, he started grabbing stuff i had laying around and signing it(i have it all locked away). As it came time to shut down, we said our farewells, shook hands, and i turned to go finish up my duties, and he called my name. i turned, and he was standing right behind me, and then he put a big, tight hug on me, and didn't let go for awhile. i thought, "Wow, he really is a nice, regular guy.... Now that moment haunts me. Fuck, we even exchanged email addresses, and had a couple of short correspondences in the couple of weeks afterward...nothing other than ordinary messages...i have those emails saved in several locations now also. It was about 2 months later i awoke to the news that he was gone. i fell to my knees, numb, like the world stopped, no sound, nothing was coming thru...i was so blindsided. It has taken years to process. It was over 10 years before i could see a video or hear a song by INXS, i had recurring dreams that were driving me insane....i mean, should i have taken that hug as unusual and told someone? i have been battling these feelings ever since. He seemed so very happy... i took the hug as him being joyful, but maybe he was trying just to hang on...i don't, and will never know. i wish i knew how to contact the other guys and tell them about this. One thing i do know...it wont go away.
The song has that upbeat but sad quality, just one more great song they did of so many. What a talented band, such a huge loss to rock, as great talent doesn't show up like this too often. So glad they were caught on film that we can enjoy watching.
I really love watching this concert; I feel it's every bit as good as the Wembley show. Michael seemed particularly connected to the band and audience. He looked and sounded great and the whole bar band atmosphere is really engaging. Whoever was lucky enough to be there witnessed one of the best shows they ever gave.
This performance saddens me the most. Whenever I revisit this throughout the years, it just made me feel deeply how depressed Michael must have been.....
It does me too. Watching this knowing about the brain injury he ended up with a few years previously and everything that happened after that helps to explain the look in his eyes. While they all sound really good here Michael kind of seems like he's going through the motions doing what he was used to which was performing on stage. If you watch INXS videos especially live ones from years before you can see the difference in his demeanor in those compared to this one. I wonder how many months this was before he died.
Small venue, Inxs was probably on the phase out side of their careers as a band, I think MH knew that. I read that he was called a has been at an music award show, and he of course did not take that well.. but he was the greatest front man ever with the looks that could charm anyone. Rest In Peace Michael Hutchence

I have 5 of the albums is INXS. When I had heard it for the first time I told to myself “At last !” . I was waiting for smith special of Michael. And that is what is more than this. It’s a song of his whole life
Michael looks great here. Such a beautiful man. He looked more emotional on Searching. Maybe it brought back memories from the ARIA performance and the raid in London.
He really had a great style of clothing and the voice talent made him famous and loved from many people in the world. I miss him too. He was such a talent and the concerts was even better from the studio albums!
I miss the 90's and early 2000's...the music was soo good. it's sad knowing he died so soon after this was done...Michael's another artist on the long list of people we lost too soon.
This song moves my soul in a way I cant explain. Only to say that I get a lump in my heart and it hurts to watch MH knowing how sad he must've been and that he wasnt going to be around long after this show. Hurts my heart.
Beautiful man. Beautiful Performance. This song, I think captures the 80's INXS and Michael's essence. Don't change. Why does everything good have to end
Exactly .. he was so powerful . Especially in this. This was my first ever concert at 11 1/2 yes old with older cousins. They opened for men at work at blossom in Ohio. Instant love . Such originality!!!!
Band rocked before, still rocks today
Funny thing is I grew up in the 80's and didn't pay INXS much attention. I liked their music but not like now. I guess getting older and nostalgic is making me realize what a great band INXS was. Too bad he's gone.

I feel the exact same way.. I always thought they were just another 80's pop band.
🙄
Same. Always kind of liked them a bit but there’s just that appreciation for them as you get older.
Isaiah SAME right here...I can't get enough of them now!
Such a powerful song. One of the best bands in the 80s. Do you agree?
I agree on one of the best ❤❤
Of all time.
They were like the only 80’s band that I liked. Still love them to this day
This song is so powerful. After 20 years.. I still miss him so much
The guy had a complete presence

That's why I'm here again
He was our generations Morrison. He was amazing

Song is timeless. I wish MH was still around. I really do!

Miss you, Michael❤️
What a front man! He moved like a cat, slinky, sure in what he did. Hard to find a guy like that. God I miss him. We played this in a band, and I was so happy playing this. RIP INXS and Michael H.
Even when he was high, he never lost his natural grace.
He’s like Jim Morrison except not trying too hard. (I kid, I love The Doors).
this Aspen gig is probably one of INXS's best concerts. without a doubt. they sound amazing, and Michael looks and sings like he's still 27 years old! can't believe this was the year he died. what a loss!

Their signature tune. So glad I managed to see them twice in the 80’s ❤
One of a many lead singer who should not have taken his life. Guys like him brought so much joy to so many people across the globe.

Strong and powerful lyrics. This song gave me hope during a dark moment.

I really miss INXS so much. 💔 love Micheals voice....fantastic.
Miss you Michael.💔
💔💔💔💫💫🌟🌠🌠🌠🌻🌻🌼😥😥😥😥😥😒lo amoo
He really had a great style of clothing and the voice talent made him famous and loved from many people in the world. I miss him too. He was such a talent and the concerts was even better from the studio albums!
LOVE LOVE LOVE MICHAEL FOREVER!
So glad this concert is forever now. They went out sounding good.
I miss the 90's and early 2000's...the music was soo good.
it's sad knowing he died so soon after this was done...Michael's another artist on the long list of people we lost too soon.
Ringing guitars and haunting vocals. Magic mix. INXS would have been an all time great band. Sad.
21 anos sem vc Michael Hutchence....
Sinto muito a sua falta!
MICHAEL HUTCHENCE tivesse vivo estaria com 61 anos
Oh what could've been, I see the pain in his eyes in this video, what an amazing song, what a timeless band, they were so original.
This song moves my soul in a way I cant explain. Only to say that I get a lump in my heart and it hurts to watch MH knowing how sad he must've been and that he wasnt going to be around long after this show. Hurts my heart.
Same

Why does everything good have to end
Exactly .. he was so powerful . Especially in this. This was my first ever concert at 11 1/2 yes old with older cousins. They opened for men at work at blossom in Ohio. Instant love . Such originality!!!!
I was lucky enough to hear this live during the Kick lp tour. 2018 and I'm still loving this song and band. Thanks for the music and memories Michael.
