      Was one of those models a 2nd generation Scion tc? I have to change my rack and I’m really hoping this works.

    I'm attempting this method on a 3rd gen prius but am not getting the subframe to flex enough to pull out the gear. Unbolted the rear motor mount which helps but nowhere near enough gap.
    Everything looks very similar to this Yaris, super frustrating as its just under 2" keeping me from success.

      @luckysdiygarage do we need to support engine or transmission when doing this as you are removing the rear lower mount bolt.
      Secondly when putting the subframe bolts back together. Do we need tighten in any order to avoid alignment ment or other issues
      Thnx

    Great video. Will the same steps apply for a 2009 corolla? I cant find any videos for my car.

      @@luckysdiygarage I was able to pull a rack and pinion from a another car at the junk yard and swap into mine at home. Thanks to your video I was able to do that! Older Yaris (2007) but same concept, thank you very much!

    What about that bracket that hold the lower column boot in place?

    • @luckysdiygarage
      @luckysdiygarage  Год назад +3

      Yeah my dumbass forgot to put it on so I had to remove the steering column shaft and reinstall the circle bracket that holds the rack and pinion dust boot in place.. we learn from our mistakes haha🍀

    Hi, I did everything and the last step my rear engine mount is different! And I can’t get the play out of it to remove it. Any ideas!? Please. It’s a 2007 gas powered. Also I don’t get it. My exhaust pipe interferes with the one of the bolts on the mount but I don’t see that pipe on any other videos. It’s a European model.

      Hi andy you can Loosen the other bolts on the other side of the subframe to get more clearance to remove the rack and pinion

      @@luckysdiygarage I got it! Just removed the 3 bolts on driver side and bought a huge pry bar . It worked. I have the dog bone style mount. Thank so much! Could not have been able to do it without the video. Kudos. Some reason the passenger side boot was filled with water and everything corroded. I’m thinking a/C water? Boot looked ok. Thanks again.
