    Learn to use back tension with all the releases instead of hammering the triggers. You'll become much more consistent.

      If we don't see the results of the shot how can we judge her technique. I am old school release and don't use caliper but string release onto the bow string and no loop on string. Mutch faster, no look , can knock and shoot arrow blindfolded.

    I use a Fletcher .44 Caliper release (buckle). Fired off a couple thousand arrows with it and I love it. Very adjustable for comfort, draw length and trigger sensitivity.

    Everyone is going to say try a back tension. If you do practice practice practice. The thing with a thumb releases is you have to learn to squeeze your shoulder blades together , which will make you drop your back elbow , which will make your thumb naturally press on the trigger. It takes time to learn. It's all part of form. Once you do though it will improve your shooting drastically

    • @zakkwyldesliver
      @zakkwyldesliver 5 лет назад

      mike nutto Sometimes I’ll use my Mongoose like a back tension release by shortening it up and by using the area between the second and third knuckles of my ring finger on the trigger. Basically engages the same muscles and works off the same principle; only the release mechanism is different.

  • @dablaugntximntxub2318
    @dablaugntximntxub2318 5 лет назад +2

    i love cater release and my favorite is the 3 finger thumb release... there's a lot of top quality release on the market, but carter is my choice, but their price isn't cheap... i shoot the just cuz and the cater attraction release.
    if you wanted to better your thumb release shooting, i recommend you start with a back tension... a back tension will make you a better thumb release shooter..i love the nock on by carter.

    As a finger shooter, I've had very little personal experence with releases. From talking with friends over the years, it seems to me that every one has their own personal preference so I'd say find one that feels good to you and you are confident in when you shoot. Love watching your process for picking new gear.

    Stop twisting your d loop with the thumb release. It doesn't swivel like a wrist strap. D loop is the same direction as the string for a reason. 😊

    Great video as all yours are. I noticed you have been using a release from Cabela's that looked like it was made by TrueFire (Hurricane Extreme which is what I use - with the buckle). Puppy is most cute. You started with painted nails, went to no polish, and finished up with painted. Done over three days! Never saw you wear Croqs! Keep up you great work. Very entertaining, you have a great demeanor!

    Generally would lengthen the draw length with a thumb release, as well possibly longer d-lope because of the twist that would occur without a 360 swivel head. That could affect/make the louder noise! Awesome video :)

    Best way for starting a thumb release for me and everyone I help is start to relax your index finger like going to to point it it will make it where you don't hammer it .... or get the hammer thumb release and you will be in great shape 😁😁

    Yea those thumb releases are clearly more consistent due to the fact that there is no wrist tie. You got sort of a direct connect with a solid release. No stretch.

  • @paulmullins4676
    @paulmullins4676 5 лет назад

    I shot traditional for 30 plus years then switched to a compound and a THUMB release.
    It had no strap and a few times I let go of the release much to my surprise!
    Not a good thing the release being shot out through your bow...damage occurs.
    The old muscle memory of relaxing the hand was so ingrained.

  • @MrHons77

    If you’re going to use a thumb release you need to get one with a rotating head otherwise it puts torque on your D Loop which puts torque on the string which can affect accuracy a little bit

    You changed your hair, looks great.
    The True-Fire is adjustable that's what the hole is for on the strap.
    On the thumb release , try and turn your hand so it's not so straight up, this will give you less twisting of the D-loop. Which will give you better groups at longer distance.
    It's nice to see you back.
    Missed seeing you and Nick.
    P.S.
    Love the new baby, so adorable

    I think u r onto something with the thumb release, u have relatively a thin hand & fingers like I do. I wasted alot of $$$ on different thumb releases until I settled on a Stan SX3 which u can get in like 3 or 4 sizes & it fits my hand like a glove. Would love 2 see the reaction on your face the 1st time u fire an arrow with a Stan, u will never look back.

      @@OutdoorsAllie thanks for the reply Allie, and yeah I know it’s that thumb release specifically in this case, but I’m wondering if that style of shooting has a name. I’m a filmmaker and I may be writing a character who shoots like that. It may not even be remotely viable without the thumb release I don’t know, but as all screen action goes, if it looks cool, then it works

    Are these type of archery rests accurate?

    I think the releases you tested are pretty much junk. You get what you pay for! Trigger movement will lead to shot anticipation and target panic. I prefer the Carter releases! High quality! Yeah>> Don't hammer that trigger! Pull through the shot!

      I was the same for the first 25 years, but about a year and a half ago I switched to left handed. You should give it a shot, with a little bit of practice you'll be better for it. :)

      355 Cutlass I shot a stan thumb release and the thing misfired on me twice! I didn't even have my thumb remotely close to the trigger and it let two arrows go. I'll always stick with tru ball

      I highly doubt that you or anyone else had a Stan release miss fire. I have been shooting a Stan release for fifteen years and never had a miss fire. Your ether hitting the thumb button or don’t have the release setup correctly.

      355 Cutlass I gave it to the tech and it did the same thing to him, buddy. This wasn't my first rodeo with a thumb button either.

      Your just not use too a button release I suppose. Everyone has there own preferences, you can set the Stan up to where it’s not a hair trigger. Maybe you tech needs to visit stans website?

      355 Cutlass bro stop dismissing what happened! Products fail. I've been shooting thumb buttons for over 6 years. Just accept the reality of what happened and move on.

    Great video, I am just getting into bow hunting but I am left handed. Do the releases come in left handed or work both ways?

    I really hate velcro, when i first get in my tree stand, after getting all set up last thing i do is put on my release, and adjusting it , pulling it back up, for some reason the velcro sounds 10x as loud in the dark and feels like i'm spooking all animals within a mile from me, not a good feeling
