The fastest ride in the Metroplex. 8 lanes wide, straight (but with some slight curves to keep it from being monotonous), fast-moving traffic, lots of stacks, well-designed, relatively hilly, and a wide grassy median in parts, that gives this freeway a spacious feel to it. My favorite freeway in the Metroplex. Thanks for putting this together!
Fort Worth, my home from 1998 to when my husband passed away in 2014 at the young age of 42 from ALS 💔 (he was born and raised in Ft,Tx) then I moved back to Canada, with plans on returning, I was offered a job with amazing pay, so I decided to stay make some really good money, spend time with the family then move back, sadly covid happened, now it’s uncertain as to when I will be able to return. I miss “home”, it’s been 6 years since I came back (born and raised in Canada) I’ve always felt “lost and disconnected” here, though I have family, Texas will remain in my heart forever, once covid passes and it’s 100% safe, I “might” consider moving back, sadly , just watching this video gives me a sense of complete loneliness, ironically your song is fitting to how I’m feeling 😢💔, thank you for bringing me “home”, FYI, I travelled that road countless times (I put 267,000 km’s on my Chevy truck..lol) from I-35 to I-20 then downtown Fort Worth (off Hulen Street)
I have cuzins in Dallas (on my dad's side) and in Ft Worth (on my mom's side), I haven't stepped foot in Ft Worth since April 2016. I hope 2 go back again someday. :)
Awesome ride. But wait until the south side is gonna grow as much as the north side of the DFW area. Then it won't be such a pleasant drive. Dallas has some of the largest suburbs in the US, like Plano, Irving, Garland, Grand Priarie, Arlington...
One cool thing about this stretch is that on most of the stretch, you can see the antenna tower farm really well that transmits most of Dallas's TV and radio stations. It's on the left going west and on the right going east.
It's definitely right up there with CalTrans. I'll definitely say this; think TxDOT is certainly doing a better job overall with statewide maintenance, vs. CalTrans.
Yes and it's right after the amazing 408 interchange. I often take that VERY top flyover- the highest point in dallas . You get great views and can see over that hill, and even los Colinas on a good clear day 👍
FreewayBrent the biggest if you count it as one town is the Town of Hempstead, NY 800,000+ people. Mesa would be #2 and Long Beach, CA right behind it Or if you count San Jose as a suburb of San Francisco, it would be the biggest at 1,000,000
@UnknownOconnor That is true! The motorways in England are pretty awful. The continental roads are good still though man, i was in france, spain and germany this summer and the highways were lovely, a pleasure to drive on compaired to the awful UK roads. I must admit, i don't have that much experience driving in the south of the USA. I go to california on business sometimes though and their roads are real bad, even some of the main streets in smaller towns are full of potholes. Take care!
@UnknownOconnor Really? The quality of the highways in some states is terrible. I-20 doesn't look too bad from this video, but some of the roads out in cali for example are full of pot holes. You think Americas roads are great, you should see the euro versions. The autostrada in Italy is epic, and the autobahn in germany is flawless (no pot holes, bumps or bad surfaces) - take care!
