In the five years since this video has been up, the NE Loop looks like it jumped ahead 100 years into the future when I was last in it in early 2014, and it wasn't even completed yet!
Great video, nice choice of music for the ride. WTF with the 4 lane section, that's very un-Texas like :) Yes that Interchange with I-30 on the east side is very nice, great to see it from the lower level.
I remember in the 60's, if you got on the wrong road on the old mix-master down town and ended up on I-30, you couldn't get off until Arlington and you ended up paying two tolls!!!
East Loop 820 is a very old freeway, that TXDOT hasn't updated. Other parts of the loop have been, but not east loop. I can't imagine why considering the growth Fort Worth has experienced over the past 20 years.
It is planning to be expanded they are working from SH 183/SH121 interchange to I-30 interchange after that project they will be planning to expand it to further down to I-20
I at first thought it was too. I remember the one time I was in Dallas listning to WBAP while on I-820 but according to Krumni the number was chosen because of WBAP.
I think the 820 @ I-30 interchange on the east side of Fort Worth was more of an afterthought. The interchange did not exist when I-30 east of FW was still the DFW Turnpike. The roads just crossed each other with no connections.
I think it's a coincidence. It could've been called 220, 420, or 620 because of the interstate number naming system. Maybe Amon Carter had the ears of the highway folks when they were naming the freeways in the 50s and onward.
Dude! I hate to say this but all major DFW freeways are worse! All the major interstate highways are congested from I-30, I-35, I-20, I-45, 114,183, I-635, 75. Anything that's within the city limits is when it gets really bad.
Enjoyed the drive on interstate 820
I'll post a more detailed response later on, but my first guess is to believe that the "chain-linked fence" is actually cable-stayed barrier, no?
thats amazing, everybody drives with the same speed... great video! Thanks!

I live in Bedford. I love this video!!
cool music mix with the bridges at 6:42

Yes, the fact it looked so old it can't even complete a feeder road

I heard I-820 in east Fort Worth from SH 183/SH121 interchange to I-30 is getting expanded this year

Bangin' music, as always :-)
What is interesting about Texas interchange are the length of the elevated ramps. Most countries use embankments, but Texas doesn't.
Can anyone tell me what thee white road surface is made of? I live in the UK and I've never seen road surface like it here. Looks like concrete to me
Concrete, as far as I know man.
What song is this?

You saw the same truck during the southeast loop and the West loop
I-820 got it's number because of AM 820 WBAP an news/talk station in Dallas/Fort Worth.
@willubhave That's not a mistake. That's an attempt to conserve sign bridges.

This used to be an easy highway to navigate, but now it's so complicated with all the construction going on.

The eastern half of 820 of course is a mess. There's only 2 lanes in the majority while on the western side it's perfectly fine.
4 lanes on a major freeway in a large urban area. That's not very Texas!
woot i see my new home neighbourhood 3:35-3:45 sweet

I grew up in Ft. Worth in the 60's and 820 wasn't built right to begin with.
The New 820 is just the same. All they did was add toll roads. pffft
