During the crash the R1 frame really took a hit on the kickstand bracket, there is a crack all around.
I’m not an expert on aluminum TIG welding but I’m definitely getting more comfortable with it, today weld repair that frame and then paint it with the OEM color.
Spray painting is usually not the best choice for a professional result but it’s convenient and cheap when you don’t have a full blown paint booth, so I primed, painted and clear coated my Yamaha R1 frame, swing arm and clutch over all of that with aerosols.
The result is stunning to me, let me know what you think of it because I’m honestly blown away!!

Great job man! Sprayed a couple cans of 2K clear in my tiny garage to fix up my old truck hood, and man that stuff is hard core. Great product, but 100% should wear a good respirator and know that the cloud fog of paint in the air will stick on *everything* in the room, leaving a rough crust texture.
That happened on my table 😅
It’s all rough from those clear coat droplets now

Tristan you are NOT weldink ok. you must have a V shaped gap so the melted filler rod goes all the way. You are welding only at the wery top. Veld may look fine but i assure you if you strees the weld it will fail
Yes I agree that you need to chamfer where you weld, which I did, I had rounds and rounds of grinding and welding and sometimes the camera is hard to position to show what I’m doing, but I assure you that I dug with my file or a dremel to allow the weld to be deep 👍
What kind of aluminum weld rod do I use boss ?? I just took mine apart and is ready to weld it
