Fantastic Workmanship, a pleasure to watch and a much better frame than the original - super camera work too and story boarding, not easy to combine all these skills - The only thing I would say is that you make it look so easy but I know it absolutely is not, even going to the trouble of back-purging all the joints. You sir are a Master Craftsman. You make Tig welding look so easy, almost like sewing fabric, when there is nothing easy about it. Can I ask what filler rod you are using for the CrMO? Is it brass/nickel? I agree with some others.....don't paint that frame. Clear coat it so that wonderful workmanship is always on display!
I like how you do your work. Nice and clean, take time for preparation, cut and grind your tubes for perfect fit. But i have a question...why are you seeling the edges? 25CrMo4 is a carbonsteel not a stainless🤔 Do you use formation gas? Me myself don't use it with this steel and my workplace is KTM R&D. My daily job is to build Prototyp main and rear frames with the exact same steel. Most of the time I use my mag/mig welder with a G6 wire and C18 as my shielding gas. When i tig weld, i use the same rod, 99.9 argon but no formation gas for the inner tube. Buy the way, your work A+
I'm a noob with welding.. was that a different kind of welder you used to do tack the plates down and then you used another kind of welder to weld?I saw you used gas to fill the frame up before welding. Was the first welder a MIG and the second a TIG?
I see there hasn't been much in the way of replies to your post. NOTICE -I am not this person. Nor am I skilled to the level of the master you see before you. That being said, I can try to help with a few of your questions.
Tig - tungsten inert gas welding gtaw. From what I could see he uses the same TIG welding method for tacking as well as welding. TIG is a very detailed process. SUMMARY, shared similar traits with soldering. Filler metal rod in one hand torch in the other. Uses varying electrodes/filler metal rods based on material to be welded. Much better heat control and precision welds. Welds chromoly stainless aluminum mild steel and most all others. Simply research electrode and shielding gas requirements for material as well as base settings (reference only, adjust accordingly) for your specific welding machine and style. Filling the vessel with shielding gas has many advantages worth research.
Nice job dude ! But I wonder why are you blowing gas in your carbon steel pipes (Argon or Nitrogen ?) ? You are indeed welding carbon steel ? Crmo does needs gas ?
Super video, but why send the argon into the tank when it's steel? Only for stainless steel do you need to put the gas towards...? Otherwise, excellent work!
