Everyone kept telling us that we would regret it if we didn’t have a wedding. 10 years later my husband and I still wish we would’ve just eloped and used the money for a trip together or literally anything else. It’s just a day, and I was so stressed that I didn’t even enjoy it.
Yes! Elope! Party later. I didn't get married until I was 41, and there was no way I was going to be persuaded to do anything I didn't want. We took our kids, officiant and went to the redwoods for 10 days. It was so fun and the best trip. No regrets.
The thing is that moment you are giving your life and commitment to another person should be only about you and your partner. I don't believe any other factors should come into that moment. We did what we wanted that day, on our timeline and I truly soaked in every moment. We recorded the whole thing and made a really awesome video of our lives together up to and including that moment. We'll play it at the party next year. And no matter what friend/family member starts drama on the day of the party it will never take away from the actual day we were married. No one can take that from us. Another bonus: get to wear my amazing dress twice.

Hey Janelle, for the wedding thing, I’m planning a wedding right now and with it being so expensive and insane planning weddings I found out about micro weddings. Also, my fiancé and I are both kinda introverted and the idea of a shit ton of people being there stresses us out. But we’ve literally looked at renting an Airbnb and just inviting the people we wanna invite and having a fun party with food and dancing. It’s so much cheaper and so much more stress free. Just an idea because you said you wanted to invite the people at your engagement party. We’re only going to invite about 50 people to our micro wedding. (We’re also both still wearing nice clothes and I’m wearing a dress but that’s just because we want to and we both like doing that). But also, you obviously don’t even have to consider that. It’s just another option if you haven’t heard of a micro wedding or considered them 💜💜
I did a micro wedding during c0vid (Sept 2020). We invited about 30 ppl, us and our photographer (my cousin) included. We rented cabins on a local lake and put up a tent. It was great!!!

I loved hearing about Karelly’s and Sydney’s Mexican heritage! I can relate to Sydney-my mom is Mexican and Spanish speaking but my dad is not, so I didn’t grow up learning fluent Spanish. It’s frustrating but I still grew up in a Hispanic household and it’s a huge part of my identity ❤️
I was having the worst day. I left work early and really just needed a friend/friends but unfortunately I don't have anyone I can call on. I decided to go get my nails done and go to my favorite restaurant, while listening to The Sesh! I was laughing in the restaurant by myself but this totally made my day as if I was sitting with friends listening to wonderful stories. Thank you guys for just being you. It helps me through my bad days. ❤️
I’m diagnosed bipolar and it makes me so sad to hear the lack of freedom Britney had with her meds. That’s something that I really value having and having the ability to speak up for myself and be respected. It’s heartbreaking she was heavily medicated without say in it, those meds can make you feel terrible too.
Ok but I actually get really excited to see you upload a vlog. It is a nice little treat because they ARENT frequent so it's like an extra bonus to the podcasts.

I think that I love this podcast because every one of you have a different perspective and personality. In every friend group there is the more talkative and fun one (Janelle) you have the down to earth one but also has an edgy side (Kendall) there is the somewhat shy one but she is the best to talk to and gives great reason (Sydney) then you have the artistic realist who is so sweet and generous but kind of let’s others stand out even though they have such an amazing personality (Kerelly ) I love all of you. It also helps that you are all different because it appeals to a larger audience and different personalities can relate to you all more.
It was really great to get to know more about you… you four helped me through some of the hardest times of my life and i must have watched/listened to every episode at least twice. To say I appreciate your podcast is an understatement. Thank you so much for giving me something to look forward to every week. Love y’all 💖

What you guys said about having your own life outside of the person you're dating, irrespective of whether it's long distance or not, is sooo true. Having your life revolve around a person's calls, texts, or visits, no matter how amazing they are, is sooo draining in the long run. Honestly I mainly watch the Sesh for relationship/friendship advice 😂 you all are just so emotionally intelligent and thoughtful, and your healthy relationships are such a role model!
I really think Britney is just laying herself bare for the world to show her freedom. I was in a very controlling abusive relationship for years and once I finally got out I did the same thing. It's empowering and telling the world that You are now FREE and you can do what you want now. 💛
About gardening in CA, I live in Palm Springs and 80% of my plans burn and the leaves die! I have to make sure to water super early to give the water time to dry off the leaves before the sun burns holes in it!! The water magnifies and it’s like shining a magnifying glass in the sun to make a fire 😂… summers suck when you have plants 😅
I love hearing Janelle talk about her first harvest! I have always had the exact opposite of a green thumb but gardening seems so peaceful and like a nice project to have on the side that I want to do it myself one day!
Janelle, just a suggestion around wedding planning! Do what YOU want to do and only invite your closest friends/family (if you even want to) keep it small and simple. Again, do what makes YOU happy. My husband and I literally told no one and got married at the courthouse lol. I wouldn't trade it for a thing 💕
Growing your own anything is better then store bought! I've grown a garden for like 4 years now. Green beans are the absolute BEST!!! I grow Jalapeños which are always sooo hot!!! , cucumbers and lemon cucumbers which I am soo excited for!!! And other stuff but it's soo rewarding when you harvest!
Omg I had such a similar experience to the Seroquel thing! I’m bipolar too and I was forced on Seroquel on a high dose instead of what I’m taking now (not as strong) and honestly the way doctors will abuse giving out such meds is awful, they’re for schizophrenia and severe manic episodes, not something you would ever want to be on unless you absolutely have to. A year of my life was stolen from me. The meds took away everything that I know as living, I was a zombie and I could never experience joy, I didn’t have energy to do anything and I was trapped in a sort of mental prison. I now am on lamotrigin (used to treat depression and mood instability and NOT PSYCHOSIS) and it’s the best thing ever, it took getting a new doctor tho. I feel like I was so badly gaslighted but everyone around me (medical staff and family) saying I “needed” the meds when the fact is that emotional instability and “acting crazy” is wayyyy different from psychosis and actually being out of touch with reality! I would be locked in a psych ward and not allowed to leave without taking medication or whatever, essentially removing my right over my body and what to put in it when I KNOW IT WASN’T GOOD FOR ME. The way people has treated Britney and the whole situation really resonates with me. I really feel for the pain she has been through and I CAN’T IMAGINE what it was like living under that control and gaslighting FOR YEARS AND YEARS. It breaks my heart, and it’s so frustrating seeing people still calling her crazy or whatever. Does she have mental problems? None of you business! But mental problems does not fucking equate to being insane or not having the capacity to make decisions for your own life! People really need to educate themselves when it comes to mental health, and then problems in the medical field is a while other issue too. I’m really happy Britney is out now and I hope she surrounds herself with healthy people. It’s amazing how even after years of gaslighting she still knows her truth, it’s just a testament to what a strong person she is, all respect to that woman! 💪

janelle, if you have too many tomatoes, and don't know what to do with them, you can always can them in glass mason jars, which can be used and stored for winter time pasta or stew recipes. Homemade pasta sauce is so so good! 🍅

Long distance is so hard even as friends who want to be together. My husband and I were friends for 20 years online always talking about wanting to be together but me being in Canada and him being in Scotland it seemed impossible. We met at 12 and 13 years old online, after 20 years we finally got the chance to meet and got married, and living together. It sucked spending so many years wanting to be together and watching both of us just move on with life because we didn't think we would ever get to meet.
I totally get what you’re saying Janelle about not wanting a “big” wedding. I personally was going to elope, but my parents insisted on helping plan at least a small wedding, and we were able to still put together a beautiful wedding on a small budget. Our venue only allowed 30 people so it made it easy to not invite people we didn’t want there, and we kept it to immediate family only. Looking back I am so so glad, I don’t agree that it’s just for everyone else and that you don’t remember it because it was definitely the happiest day full of love surrounded by the people most important to us ❤️
Janelle, you could totally do a micro wedding! I hated the idea of having a big wedding and there's so many reasons why I didn't want to do it. I decided to DIY the whole thing, all under $1k! We rented a pavilion at a park for $50, got some Mexican catering, and got the women in my family to help out to create some decorations, super cheap and easy tea lights, mason jars, etc. It was a lot of fun putting it all together, and everyone says they loved it over a big traditional wedding. We had about 20 people in total, and had some badminton, cupcakes, white claws, and Spotify. It was a good time, I'd highly recommend DIY micro weddings!

J for your wedding honestly do what you guys want!!! We did, we went to a quiet beautiful beach with a handful of your closest and it was the best ever! No stress everything was fun and it was perfect. I did worry as I have a large family but everyone understood and were so happy for us. Don’t feel guilty it’s your guys day, do it for you. My friend got caught up with her wedding drama and she plans to renew her vows in the highlands with 8 guests on her 5 year anniversary as it all ruined her day. Be selfish, it’s only one day, your day plus youl have gorgeous pictures to share with anyone who isn’t there xx
i relate a lot to syd's latina identity/experience with her family it was nice to hear about because sometimes i feel a lot of impostor syndroms abt my heritage because of being born here/not speaking spanish etc .. :) so it felt comforting

i feel SO bad for people who think so many negative things about weddings. there are so many options now you don’t need to do everything traditionally. we only had like 60 people and spent a week at a beach house with our bridal party and got married on the beach at the end of the week. every penny we spent was so worth it - best week ever, best memories made for life and people raved about our wedding for years. i remember the entire day and night and i’m so happy i have those memories and got to spend that time with people we love and who love us. i know that everyone has different scenarios and lifestyles but i just wanted to offer my experience. yes it was definitely stressful but i don’t even care about that now or remember the negatives, i only think about the fun we had and i don’t regret it for a second. and i’m so happy i have all my wedding photos and a few small videos so i can look back on it and relive such an amazing time. we’ve been happily married for 8 years. maybe if you do a destination wedding some people who stress you out won’t come, that’s kind of what happened with us. anyway, best of luck to the both of you! ❤️
I want to say that the four of you have chemistry. I love what all of you contribute to the show. I had a big wedding, and now if I had to do it retrospectively, I would do an intimate wedding. Some people wanted to get invited to my wedding and said they would come but didn't. The place donated the extra food to a women's shelter, which made me feel better.
I agree with Janelle on the wedding planning . My husband and I just signed a piece of paper and called it good. We didn’t want the stress of planning one, didn’t want to pay for it…no regrets on not having one.

I did a micro wedding during c0vid (Sept 2020). We invited about 30 ppl, us and our photographer (my cousin) included. We rented cabins on a local lake and put up a tent. It was great!!!

I loved hearing about Karelly’s and Sydney’s Mexican heritage! I can relate to Sydney-my mom is Mexican and Spanish speaking but my dad is not, so I didn’t grow up learning fluent Spanish. It’s frustrating but I still grew up in a Hispanic household and it’s a huge part of my identity ❤️
I was having the worst day. I left work early and really just needed a friend/friends but unfortunately I don't have anyone I can call on. I decided to go get my nails done and go to my favorite restaurant, while listening to The Sesh! I was laughing in the restaurant by myself but this totally made my day as if I was sitting with friends listening to wonderful stories. Thank you guys for just being you. It helps me through my bad days. ❤️

I’m diagnosed bipolar and it makes me so sad to hear the lack of freedom Britney had with her meds. That’s something that I really value having and having the ability to speak up for myself and be respected. It’s heartbreaking she was heavily medicated without say in it, those meds can make you feel terrible too.

I think that I love this podcast because every one of you have a different perspective and personality. In every friend group there is the more talkative and fun one (Janelle) you have the down to earth one but also has an edgy side (Kendall) there is the somewhat shy one but she is the best to talk to and gives great reason (Sydney) then you have the artistic realist who is so sweet and generous but kind of let’s others stand out even though they have such an amazing personality (Kerelly ) I love all of you. It also helps that you are all different because it appeals to a larger audience and different personalities can relate to you all more.

Having your life revolve around a person's calls, texts, or visits, no matter how amazing they are, is sooo draining in the long run. Honestly I mainly watch the Sesh for relationship/friendship advice 😂 you all are just so emotionally intelligent and thoughtful, and your healthy relationships are such a role model!
I really think Britney is just laying herself bare for the world to show her freedom. I was in a very controlling abusive relationship for years and once I finally got out I did the same thing. It's empowering and telling the world that You are now FREE and you can do what you want now. 💛

About gardening in CA, I live in Palm Springs and 80% of my plans burn and the leaves die! I have to make sure to water super early to give the water time to dry off the leaves before the sun burns holes in it!! The water magnifies and it’s like shining a magnifying glass in the sun to make a fire 😂… summers suck when you have plants 😅
I love hearing Janelle talk about her first harvest! I have always had the exact opposite of a green thumb but gardening seems so peaceful and like a nice project to have on the side that I want to do it myself one day!

Janelle, just a suggestion around wedding planning! Do what YOU want to do and only invite your closest friends/family (if you even want to) keep it small and simple. Again, do what makes YOU happy. My husband and I literally told no one and got married at the courthouse lol. I wouldn't trade it for a thing 💕
Growing your own anything is better then store bought! I've grown a garden for like 4 years now. Green beans are the absolute BEST!!! I grow Jalapeños which are always sooo hot!!! , cucumbers and lemon cucumbers which I am soo excited for!!! And other stuff but it's soo rewarding when you harvest!
I recently started growing a few veggies as well Janelle, I'm basically winging it too. I love seeing them change every morning. Really satisfying!
Omg I had such a similar experience to the Seroquel thing! I’m bipolar too and I was forced on Seroquel on a high dose instead of what I’m taking now (not as strong) and honestly the way doctors will abuse giving out such meds is awful, they’re for schizophrenia and severe manic episodes, not something you would ever want to be on unless you absolutely have to. A year of my life was stolen from me. The meds took away everything that I know as living, I was a zombie and I could never experience joy, I didn’t have energy to do anything and I was trapped in a sort of mental prison. I now am on lamotrigin (used to treat depression and mood instability and NOT PSYCHOSIS) and it’s the best thing ever, it took getting a new doctor tho. I feel like I was so badly gaslighted but everyone around me (medical staff and family) saying I “needed” the meds when the fact is that emotional instability and “acting crazy” is wayyyy different from psychosis and actually being out of touch with reality! I would be locked in a psych ward and not allowed to leave without taking medication or whatever, essentially removing my right over my body and what to put in it when I KNOW IT WASN’T GOOD FOR ME. The way people has treated Britney and the whole situation really resonates with me. I really feel for the pain she has been through and I CAN’T IMAGINE what it was like living under that control and gaslighting FOR YEARS AND YEARS. It breaks my heart, and it’s so frustrating seeing people still calling her crazy or whatever. Does she have mental problems? None of you business! But mental problems does not fucking equate to being insane or not having the capacity to make decisions for your own life! People really need to educate themselves when it comes to mental health, and then problems in the medical field is a while other issue too. I’m really happy Britney is out now and I hope she surrounds herself with healthy people. It’s amazing how even after years of gaslighting she still knows her truth, it’s just a testament to what a strong person she is, all respect to that woman! 💪

Long distance is so hard even as friends who want to be together. My husband and I were friends for 20 years online always talking about wanting to be together but me being in Canada and him being in Scotland it seemed impossible. We met at 12 and 13 years old online, after 20 years we finally got the chance to meet and got married, and living together. It sucked spending so many years wanting to be together and watching both of us just move on with life because we didn't think we would ever get to meet.
I totally get what you’re saying Janelle about not wanting a “big” wedding. I personally was going to elope, but my parents insisted on helping plan at least a small wedding, and we were able to still put together a beautiful wedding on a small budget. Our venue only allowed 30 people so it made it easy to not invite people we didn’t want there, and we kept it to immediate family only. Looking back I am so so glad, I don’t agree that it’s just for everyone else and that you don’t remember it because it was definitely the happiest day full of love surrounded by the people most important to us ❤️
Janelle, you could totally do a micro wedding! I hated the idea of having a big wedding and there's so many reasons why I didn't want to do it. I decided to DIY the whole thing, all under $1k! We rented a pavilion at a park for $50, got some Mexican catering, and got the women in my family to help out to create some decorations, super cheap and easy tea lights, mason jars, etc. It was a lot of fun putting it all together, and everyone says they loved it over a big traditional wedding. We had about 20 people in total, and had some badminton, cupcakes, white claws, and Spotify. It was a good time, I'd highly recommend DIY micro weddings!

J for your wedding honestly do what you guys want!!! We did, we went to a quiet beautiful beach with a handful of your closest and it was the best ever! No stress everything was fun and it was perfect. I did worry as I have a large family but everyone understood and were so happy for us. Don’t feel guilty it’s your guys day, do it for you. My friend got caught up with her wedding drama and she plans to renew her vows in the highlands with 8 guests on her 5 year anniversary as it all ruined her day. Be selfish, it’s only one day, your day plus youl have gorgeous pictures to share with anyone who isn’t there xx
i relate a lot to syd's latina identity/experience with her family it was nice to hear about because sometimes i feel a lot of impostor syndroms abt my heritage because of being born here/not speaking spanish etc .. :) so it felt comforting

i feel SO bad for people who think so many negative things about weddings. there are so many options now you don’t need to do everything traditionally. we only had like 60 people and spent a week at a beach house with our bridal party and got married on the beach at the end of the week. every penny we spent was so worth it - best week ever, best memories made for life and people raved about our wedding for years. i remember the entire day and night and i’m so happy i have those memories and got to spend that time with people we love and who love us. i know that everyone has different scenarios and lifestyles but i just wanted to offer my experience. yes it was definitely stressful but i don’t even care about that now or remember the negatives, i only think about the fun we had and i don’t regret it for a second. and i’m so happy i have all my wedding photos and a few small videos so i can look back on it and relive such an amazing time. we’ve been happily married for 8 years. maybe if you do a destination wedding some people who stress you out won’t come, that’s kind of what happened with us. anyway, best of luck to the both of you! ❤️
I want to say that the four of you have chemistry. I love what all of you contribute to the show. I had a big wedding, and now if I had to do it retrospectively, I would do an intimate wedding. Some people wanted to get invited to my wedding and said they would come but didn't. The place donated the extra food to a women's shelter, which made me feel better.
I call my highs and lows Peaks & Valleys. Cause even though valleys are low, they can still be beautiful when seen from the top of the mountain.
I agree with Janelle on the wedding planning . My husband and I just signed a piece of paper and called it good. We didn’t want the stress of planning one, didn’t want to pay for it…no regrets on not having one.

As someone who has drowned it actually is probably the most peaceful way to go . If I had to choose the way I'd pass I'd choose to drown again. It's so serene and imo painless I genuinely just remember feeling embraced in the water and seeing a bright light before my dad pulled me out
