LOVE the trash container idea!! If someone said that to me, I'd have thought it was gross. But seeing you explain it, makes sense! Went out and bought one today, THANK YOU!

I love to organize too and I think it makes life so easy. I put my extra bags for my little garbage can in the bottom of the garbage can and when I take out my filled bag the new ones are right there at the bottom of the can. I thought you might like this idea, it's neat, clean and gives you the extra space in the door pocket of your car.

Kathryn... have I told you how much I LOVE you!? You give me so many ideas! I'm so thankful I found your channel! It's finally warming up here in Canada so I've been eager to finally get a good deep clean going on my car! I'll be using EVERY idea you have...THANKS! The one thing I already do (kinda) and have been doing forever...is the garbage bag in the car. Taking stuff out after every drive was something I was never consistent with so I just hung mine from the corner of the glove box or the stick in the middle hanging down to the passenger side but I do like the idea of having it in the backseat! Stealing that idea too!
    Keep it up pretty mama!

I love this video. I hate to get in a messy car. My husband is the WORST at keeping a car clean and it drives me crazy. I guess after 25 years of marriage if that is our biggest problem we are doing ok. Haha. This video has given me a couple of ideas. Thank you and keep up the great work. You are my hero

Oh my goodness Kathryn, of all the stuff I store in my van for "just in case" I have never once thought to keep a roll of paper towels in there. What a great idea! Adding that one to the list. Thanks for the tip!

I absolutely love the container you have for a trash bin. I've tried using bags and they always end up moving around or tied off when there is something wet in them, then I take it out and forget to replace it. Having a designated trash bin is great!

LOVE, LOVE,LOVE your trashcan....what a neat idea....Before now, never saw anything I liked that would work for trash...will have to do this one...I have a laundry basket in the back of my SUV ...works great to put in tennis shoes...paper towels...car cleaner...and ect.......that way, my car does stay clutter free... And also, what a cool idea for car registration...proof of insurance. ..ect.😀

We also keep a couple of gallon sized ziptop bags in our car. In case anyone gets carsick, they use the bag, wipe off their mouth with a diaper wipe, throw it in the bag, zip it up, and we toss it in the trash as soon as we can pull over.

The shirts are a great idea and take up minimal space. Kids get sick and they throw up... usually on Mommy. Having a clean shirt to put on is a wonderful thing :-) I am putting a container for trash in my car....another one of your great ideas. Thanks Kathryn!!!!!!!!!

Not gonna lie, I saw the thumbnail on Facebook and clicked on it because of the ThirtyOne products! That means I'll be able to copy you with items I already have on hand. I'm really glad my kids are a little bit older now (3, 7, 9) and I don't actually keep snacks in the car anymore. And now, when we get out, I can make sure they take with them whatever it is they brought in (that includes trash). My husband on the other hand.... maybe I do need that trash container ;-) Thank you for the great tips!

I love this video, I have MOST of the stuff in my car that you have in yours minus the baby stuff, BUT I also have like an emergency fashion kit, which comes with fashion tape, shoe shine sponge, a deodorant remover ( It removes it from your clothes, not you like my mom thought ) it has lint remover pads, static cling spray, Gosh I forget what all, it's like $10.00 at Wal-Mart and comes in it's on little pink tin ! Well worth the money. I also stick a few extra pad's and tampon's, hair bow's, hair tie's and a travel brush, what I did was I got a small travel make-up bag, not the purse size, but the next one up, I stuck it all in there, now if I'm out shopping, at the park or whatever and I have any sort of fashion emergency I'm covered!
Thanks for sharing this with us, your such an ANGEL ! I need to see baby Carson though ! I swear you better be thankful we don't live close to each other because you'd never see Carson ! I'd be like one of those people who borrows thing's and forget to return them, but I'd be borrowing Carson man, and forget to bring him back ! Hugs, Denise

Great trash can idea! I am getting one today. Oh, and instead of spare liner bags in the door, I am going to use a trick I saw a hotel maid do.... put the clean spare liner bags folded in the bottom of the 'can' under the currently being used liner.

Great ideas 4 keeping one's car organized. As I watched concerning the keeping of a first aid kit, water bottles, sun screen, snack bars... I thought, using an ice chest, like I do, can help keep these items insulated, which is a good thing. Especially since even on a 70-degree weather day(s), cars can reach high temps inside. I am sure you could maybe find a good vintage one, maybe at a yard sale, Craigslist or maybe even a Goodwill find. I always keep my Thermos brand, 2.5-cubic ft., ice cooler (purchased new back in 1971 or 1972 (in my Armada) and I tell you, those where made so well that even if its 90+-degrees outside, I can store purchased make-up or other delicate items (w/out ice), and when I take them out... they're not warm as they have been kept insulated; they come out as cool as when I put them in there. And of course, whenever I go food shopping on hot days, I put my cold items in there with my two vintage Rubbermaid Aqua WATER (refillable) Aqua color rectangular (16" x 14" x 2.5"/also purchased new back in the 70s), and even the ice cream and all of other cold stuff comes into my kitchen from the garage as cold as it went in... and the ice cream is perfectly frozen. Just a thought, hope it helps someone.

I never thought of this until my ex husband suggested it but all of the loose things in the automobile are a hazzard when/if you get into an accident, God forbid. A closable picnic basket would work well for the water and things in the back and then find a way to bungie it to the seat so that it doesn't become mobile if an accident should happen. Same with strollers. Finding a way to secure them from movement may be a good idea.
    Love your videos!

For trash, we use those square tissue boxes from Aldi. We always have a box of tissues in our middle console and an empty one right next to it. So when we’re done with a tissue or trash it goes in the empty box and when it’s full, we throw it out and replace it with the next empty box. It’s small yet holds a ton.

Glad to see that you are a Ford Family, as I am and work there :). I noticed that you had a little "reg" kit in your glove box, I myself has always been taught that for safety reasons that you should NEVER do that. In case your car gets broken into, your name/address is on your registration and you don't want that info out there. Just a tip :).

I have about 4 square folding bins in my trunk that are mostly empty (I think one has an emergency cloth for if the car gets stranded and baseball hats for my dad) that I use when we get groceries; they keep the bags from falling over!
Also, my family's always kept the paper towels in the back pocket of one of the front seats. That way it's always close enough to deal with a mess immediately. The pockets also have window screens (clip on the windows to keep out the sun on long trips) and umbrellas.

Great video. It convinced me to buy the basket for the trunk next time I'm out shopping. I was considering one for a while. I would like to add, however, that the organizers for the back of the seats aren't expensive. I made one out of a dollar tree shoe organizer, (i came across that idea online). I've also seen organizers for about 9 $ each on ebay/amazon. With 2 kids on the backseat in my jeep I don't have enough space to do anything in the middle and my drink holders are in a different place, but you gave me inspiration to think about organizing those toys and the SOPHIE :D. Greetings from Maine.

I love seeing your videos - short, sweet and to the point. I need to implement your style...Hope you don't mind if I do. Be blessed. One thing I would encourage you to do. Your water bottles should be in a thermal, cooler, or box-completely covered..I see you love thirty-one, you may wan to to buy a thermal for them. Being in the back of an windowed hatch-back, even with tented windows, the bottles could be effected by sun or even heat. If you keep them completed contained in a thermal they remain cooler even in the hottest temperatures. Selah.

Great ideas I’m going to use some of them. Why not put your extra bags for the trash can in the bottom of the trash can or you could 4 or 5 bags on the trash can then when you remove the full trash bag there’s already a bag in it.

Save space and put extra trash bags under the one in use. All in one container! Nice car tips.

Thanks for the video! Question though - do you have one of those buttons built into the car (rearview mirror) that you can set up to open your garage? The reason I ask is bc your address is on your registration, so if someone steals your car wouldn't that give them access to your garage? My husband and I disagree about keeping insurance/registration in the car, nor will I type in our home address into the navigation controls.

it's a law to have your insurance and registration in your car....

But if someone steals your car, wouldn't you be stuck at home anyway? ;-) Easy enough to clear garage opener "memory", and reprogram existing remotes. Or some come with a electronic lock, to lock out any remote usage. Or you could unplug the garage opener. I think living in fear about a possible situation, and it's possible steps after is fearful itself. Think, react, fix, and move on.

I feel like I need to voice my opinion about toys in cars. so many times a child drops a toy and cannot reach it. the parent reaches back for toy and horrible car accident have happened. My cousin was killed that way. just be careful.

Denine Lynch I always tell my kids to leave it on the floor until we stop. I can definitely see that happening. Sorry for your loss.

Denine Lynch with babies they toss crap and then you give it back and they toss it again. So I never give infants toys while they’re in my car

I keep my things in an old makeup bag in my "hump" box. :P Gotta have hand sanitizer in there and wet ones, lil Kleenex packages, extra napkins and a couple straws. Also, I have a daughter who gets car sick now and then so I keep an empty coffee container with it's lid. It's big, plastic and with the lid contains the smells until we can pull over and clean it. :)
