Out on the net, you can find anything and recently i stumbled across "zucchini flour". Shred and dehydrate zucchini shreds (supposedly 2 cups wet shreds dries to 1/2 cup dry). Once dry, puree into a flour powder. You're supposed to treat it like rice flour and cannot do a 1:1 with wheat flour in recipies. And, supposedly you can make a flour out of beans, as in dry legumes.
@@mommabear2manyHistorically, we either have a good zucchini and green tomato year or a good red tomato year. Those jokes about people depositing baseball sized zucchini on each other's doorsteps in the middle of the night or as soon as theyve rounded the corner when leaving the house aren't always just a thing of comics and comedians some years.
@@terryhenderson424 I wish I would get bags of zucchini 😂 I had a good year a few years ago my salsa I make is zucchini salsa but I also did mock pineapple yum!
Hello from western Maine!! Your channel just popped up on my feed so I'm not sure if zucchini flour has been mentioned in past videos. I'm sure I will find out. I have some catch up watching to do. I look forward to following your channel. 😊😊
So glad to have you here. We personally do not have enough zucchini this year and it’s unavailable locally. So not a viable option this year I’ll research more for next year!
I make oat flour (just rolled oats blended until powdered) to make our baked goods, muffins and quick breads mostly. For gf tortillas I use red lentils.
Bread made with Fresh ground wheat berries is save for diabetics, both types, I don’t know if you’ve tried it for sweet pea yet and tested her. I know someone who makes tortillas and bread and cookies with stevia of course and all kinds of things for her type 1 daughter and I know people with type 2 who use it and it doesn’t affect their glucose. I can’t afford a mill or I would do it.
It’s not for my diabetic we used to grind our own homemade spelt and einkorn flour. But I have people in our house allergic to the wheat. We try not to eat bread at all but are looking for an alternative.
have u heard of growing pumpkin and drying it and grinding it into flour? i never have either-till yesterday. i thought it was interesting. i may do this. what about growing amaranth? and grinding it into flour?
@@mommabear2many oh thats so interesting. i know what u mean on the amaranth. thank u. i want to make pumpkin flour or powder. thank u. very informative video.
@@DeniseODaniels if I get pumpkins I’ll share I think I shared last year in everybitcountchallenge the pumpkin seed powder. I try to put in smoothies occasionally. It’s a natural dewormer.
Why use gluten free? This alergy from eating comes from eating high in gluten superwhite and/ or gmo wheat flour. We eat rye bread and wholemeal full grain - try this if you want 😊 Thank you Momma for another video which we can enjoy 🍒
Actually not necessarily we use to eat only spelt or einkorn freshly ground flour. I used to do fermented and sourdough and still some children developed an allergy unfortunately.
May I please ask why you cannot just use the rice flour without the other things? We just grind up oats and make flat bread and such with just the oat flour.
You’re so clever! Did the pancakes taste the same as regular pancakes? How do the rice carbs compare to gluten free flour carbs? My only reservation is that I’m not a fan of white rice due to contaminates found in rice. Would it work with oatmeal?
Honestly I’m not a fan either so we try to avoid all flours. But life is causing us to stretch a dime. Gluten free flour is mainly rice flour which is usually higher carb. Sweet pea would have a chaffles.
Oh that Griddle, I’m so jealous ! I used to cook commercially and love love loved the stove. So nice that you were able to find one at a decent price.
Thank you. Yes we bought used from a school/learning center.
Rose Red Homestead has an excellent video on combination types to get a good homemade gf flour blend.
I blend up oats for oat flour. You could mix with the rice flour.
Wow that's awesome you figured out how to make and save money 😊 Still praying for you and your Son ❤️ God Bless You ❤😊
Thanks so much!
That mill has been sold under several names over the years. I loved mine! It was a great workhorse!
Very cool! Mine has been as well!
Excellent 😊
Very informative ! ❤

Zucchini is unavailable here and I have not grown enough to go beyond our basic needs.

Yes very thankful!
That is a great savings for you.😊. Good job again!!❤😂

Ground up oats gives good flavour and bulk also. Terrific savings with your pancake mix! ❤
Ok thank you!

That's a great savings ❤

Yes we have made pumpkin powder as well as pumpin seed powder. I have grown amaranth but just small nowhere near enough to make flour.

Sounds great. How would you store the dry finished mixture?
I just am storing in ziploc bags for short term.
How does the gf flour you make affect your daughter’s blood sugar. Rice is high glycemic, isn’t it?? I try to stay away from rice flour.
I think it’s for her gluten free people
She does not use I do alternatives for her.
