You’re lucky you actually got a doctor who seemed to understand the interactions at play. Many treat diabetics but don’t truly understand what’s going on with the body.
My son was diagnosed at 12 yrs old. He later in high school was positive for gluten and did not care for milk or ice cream. It is a big learning curve but just eat healthy and have a good understanding of what foods are in a high glycemic value.
Thank You so much for the information about Diabetes type one or two. Something I would not have known. I Love You and Your Family and Pray for Your Family and Daughter.
I was diagnosed at 20 and went on to have 6 amazing children, we run a cattle ranch, hike, do all the things! I know you have to normally wait a while from diagnosis but if you can get an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor it would make it much easier on you and her!
Glad all perhaps is not well, but at least is better and hopefully you and your girl can get some sleep. And it’s definitely not by accident that that new doc started just a couple of days before. Still praying for her, for you, for all involved helping you figure out the diet thing because it’s not easy and can be frustrating. To God be the glory for showing you what to do. Have a wonderful weekend.
My heart goes out to you! The same thing happened to my 1 year old 😢 thirst, dehydration, high urine output, lethargic. But it was July in Florida so I thought it was just from the heat and playing outside. I never thought to check his blood sugar. He went into diabetic ketoacidosis and almost went into a coma 😭 it was when he started breathing heavy and was so tired that I finally brought him to the ER. I feel so guilty, I should’ve known the signs. I should’ve gotten him help sooner. His blood sugar in the ER was in the 600s, and it took them 6 hours to figure out what was wrong. He was breathing heavy, lethargic, his lips were turning blue. they were getting ready to put a breathing tube in when they finally found out what was wrong and lifeflighted him to the pediatric ICU. There needs to be more education on T1D. The symptoms started 3 months before his diagnosis last July. I’m so thankful you caught it early!! Good job being on top of your sweet daughter’s needs!!
@@mommabear2many many hugs to you too! I know it’s hard on the daily keeping up with it all. I’ve had many cry sessions. Does your daughter use a dexcom? He will be 3 in August. He was 1 year 11 months when he was diagnosed

Our son was diagnosed at 6 years old and is now 31. He is doing amazing. He’s an industrial mechanic, has a 1A truck driving license, got certified as a scuba diver, husband, father, and very energetic, adrenaline loving man. He has a pump and a Medtronic tester. It is definitely a learning curve. We are a farming, whole food eating, garden growing, canning family also. Don’t let people tell you it’s anything you did or that it will limit her life.
My niece was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 15 months old! She is now28… but you’re right, we never saw it coming either! What a lifestyle change for our entire family!
My daughter was diagnosed with type 2 at age 6. Bed wetting and constant thirst. I didn’t know those were signs of diabetes either. The struggle to feed them right is difficult also. We have been dealing with this for years now. Thank you for this video! I will keep you and your family in my prayers 🙏
❤ God definitely guided you through this. You guys will figure this out. It’s overwhelming at first and stressful trying to figure it all out. It will gradually get easier I promise this. You both are troopers. Praying for you guys.

Praying for your daughter to have a long healthy life and praying for you and the rest of the family as you adjust to living with diabetis. I had it with my second pregnancy and that was not fun I had to check 5 -8 times a day and altered my diet the funny thing is I lost weight during my pregnancy with my daughter I lost 30 pounds and she was 8 pounds. I hope everything settles out and you can get a routine in place to make life a little easier take care and stay safe.
Prayers for your daughter. I sometimes say God led me, God put it on my heart, or God spoke to me and people who really don't know God, will say "What do you mean, God spoke to you"? They think I'm hearing voices and question my mental state. Lol. They don't understand that a thought that pops into your head or an instant download of information IS God's voice or leading. Keeping her in my prayers and you too. I know it's hard on us Mama's when something happens to our children. I'm also so, so sorry for the loss of your son.
Oh wow poor little thing. Must be extremely hard when she’s so little and getting all those jabs and manipulation to get a vein, especially on a child that doesn’t have the faintest understanding. My oldest brother had a friend since childhood who went into a diabetic coma and died. His Diabetes started because of food poisoning from a wholemeal chicken salad sandwich, he bought in a cafe. Apparently it was the tomato in the sandwich that caused the food poisoning. Who would understand that sliced and kept tomatoes are a big culprit in food poisoning? I’d immediately think chicken not the tomatoes. Anyway because he didn’t know he had diabetes he went into a coma and couldn’t be saved. Big healthy fellow gone forever. I didn’t realise you lost a son, what happened to him? You are an extremely strong woman. The more I watch about you the more impressed I am that you keep soldering on. You remind me allot of my own mother. (Only the highest of complement to you) All the very best.
it was in deed a blessing that you felt the need to test sugar levels, that's the last thing i properly would have thought of, but it so heart wrenching that you so upset and fearful going to that hospital has they suppose to be a place of help ,i understand why ,on a lighter note you did do the actions to it very well with face expressions lol,:) you both great parents to be putting her first to get best care and acting so quick, , and be hard to be feeding so many but still have to watch little ones meals and keep checking sugars , and nice to see big smile on her beautiful face after all that she went though , blessing to you all in abundance
Thank you for sharing that about your daughter. I am diabetic and I'm a wondering now that you've told the signs if I might have had it since childhood because alot of those same things happened with me. Also I can have my daughters alerted with their own children as well. Thank God He told you to check your baby and thank God he put that doctor there to treat her. She is such a beautiful and sweet child . Thank you and God bless your family sweet lady. I pray many blessings on you and your family. ❤❤❤❤
Type 1 always requires insulin injections before a meal if they don’t get an injection they would go into DKA and die. So it’s unlikely you had since childhood. But your childhood diet may have played a part in your diabetes you may have started feeling the affects as your pancreas was struggling. There’s also a 1 1/2 I’m not sure about that one. I’m sorry you are battling diabetes.
The same thing happened me to when my youngest was newborn ended up with RSV. I just had this urging. Mind you he was my 5th child so normally am pretty laid back. We spent one in the children's hospital. He was fine but it really shook me because he was only a week old.
Do you live in Maine? My mother's side of the family is from Maine. My cousin had a horrible doctor in Bangore. Doctor was more concerned about missing his plane than to clean out my cousins wound before stitching him. He had pebbles in his cut that became infected.
Oh my heart...I'm so glad you were able to figure it out and get your little girl better. That hospital is a joke. But you'd think they can at least handle checking blood sugar
Your local hospital sounds like our local hospital. SCARY, and we have been told the EXACT same thing about not having a “bed” at the transplant Hospital in the neighboring state 150 miles away!!!! Our local hospital is deadly!!!
My daughter is medically special needs with multiple co morbidities. She was a pediatric liver transplant patient, 4 yrs post transplant. Type 2 diabetes, asthma, and alot of other issues. We spent 23 days in patient at her transplant hospital. Out of control blood sugar and liver rejection. My daughter is insulin dependent also. I am glad she is doing better.
I will definitely be praying for you and your daughter. I am so sorry that your daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. That isn't good at all. I have Type 2 diabetes and I take two oral medications for the diabetes. I also take two insulins for the diabetes as well. I take Toujao, which is a long lasting insulin. I also take Aprida, which is a short acting insulin and I take that three times a day. It will take time to get adjusted to a new life style, but it will come.
Type 1 is so hard in the beginning, all the carb counting and checking and double checking the amount of insulin. But before you know it, you will have it all memorized and you will be able to look at a plate of food and immediately know the amount of carbs.
