      I like seeing the back more than the front of the skidder

    Nothing like having a skid chase ya down, gotta love those strategic stumps left behind that turn the skid back in the road when you need it the most!!!!

    Small skidders will crawl into spots the big boys don't get to but the big ones can really yard a big turn. A job we were on we had some big timberjack skidders and two old Garrett's that looked like a vw next to the big timberjacks. I had a could teenage boys that liked to have fun on the little garretts so we would lower the little ones down over the side of the mountain and let kids snake them out one at a time. Soon as their pile down there was too big to get around we would lower the lines on the lumberjacks and pick most of a pile in just a couple turns. It would add one more load a day.... sometimes that load was the difference of breaking even or making some beer money. Summer times, hot and hotter, we had us a little stream on the job. I would hide a twelve pack down under the brush and in the water some ... It was for friday night and saturday was always payday. I don't know how they did it but they did hustle hard as we all did and since there were six of us, no one tipped over, from drinking a couple of beers. I ain't touched alcohol for twenty six years now come next monty and most likely won't as I am 72 now. Yep on friday they would hustle a two load day for them and it was hard picking to fill them hayrack trucks

      My guess is what doesn't make saw logs the rest might go to the chipper plant for OSB.

    • @hoskinslogging9858
      @hoskinslogging9858  3 года назад

      Yeah, when they’re too crooked or the grade drops too low they’ll go to chipper. If they’re too big in circumference then we let people come get them for firewood
