- Season 04, Episode 77: to continue the stoke for this upcoming season, I wanted to take a look back at some of the epic pow days we had last year! the ranking is honestly quite arbitrary, but enjoy some pow and lets pray for another 7 sick days!

Haha same here, everyday that I am walking between classes, I look at the mountains. So nice to finally look up there and see the peaks covered in snow.

Your review of opening day at Deer Valley reminds me of my first early season trip late 90s in Taos NM, that place is awesome and we found stashes of fresh pow at the upper part of the mountain even though it’d been a couple days since the dump. Epic for early December
sounds so sick man. i gotta get to taos one of these days!
Some sections of Taos are pretty narley, upper section near Tresckow and Corner Chute I believe the terrain is steep and angled so it makes for some intense stuff

Wasssup Lucas! I was at Palisades that same day on the Alpine side in the am… then headed over to the “Olympic Valley” side for the afternoon. I know.. kinda backwards to the norm because of all the hiking at Alpine. Crazy how fast it gets tracked on both sides regardless. Even before Xmas! I’ll probably be down there again the first couple weeks of dec this year..my home is Mt Hood, so hit me up I can show you around meadows (see profile pic) or Tline or Bachelor even. Or…. Ski bowl if it’s cold enough. They are open from 3pm-10pm midweek. In theory you can start at mhm in the am, afternoon at ski bowl to get a double Pow day (if you time it right and are lucky with temps/snowfall). Shred on🤘🏽⛷💨

I know you don’t go up to Whitefish because of the lift pass thing, but January last year we had fresh pow every day. The runs on the backside of the mountain were untouched no tracks. Gorgeous
I would definitely love to check out whitefish this year.
@@LucasCatania17 I’d be stoked to see you up on the hill, it’s not Snowbird brother, but the back country skiing and pow is superb. No lift lines at Whitefish!! Big Sky is 6 hours away and has some awesome bowls also. You’ll be skiing before me this season cannot wait to follow your adventures. Cheers for the reply as always.
Number 1 is so true I was skiing canyons side and it was the greatest time of my like. I was on saddle back and it was up to my chest in pow and the next day 9990 was basically over my head in snow the hole time. Best storm ever and will never forget it.

Had a day at sugar bowl this last season where I was practically swimming in pow. Went out and bought wider skis after being up to my waist in snow 😂

Dec 12th was a Monday. Also known as a case of the “snow flu”. 😏 I had Martis at N* all to myself and lapped it until there was nothing left…including in the trees. 30k of vert in almost exclusively untracked pow….my legs were absolutely roasted. ❤️🔥

@@LucasCatania17 yeah, the days after had deep pow but terrible consistency, saw an avalanche firsthand in the brighton backcountry during that cycle

I can't belive skiing is only two months away. Even a little bit more than a month if you go to A Basin, assuming they open in late october.

powder is definitely fun but not everyone likes it believe it or not!
Like a lot of people I skied a lot of groomers before a true powder day presented itself. It was a humbling experience overall but the one or two good runs made it worth it.

Hey Lucas, do you have any tips for riding powder, cause im in aus i only get 1 day a season (15+ cm) and its always pretty wet so i dont get to practise but im going to japan this year and wouldnt mind hearing from you the best tips for riding pow.
i dont really like to give tips on my channel, but i would say to pinch your thighs together, rather than thinking about keeping your feet together. push down into the snow and when you feel yourself coming back up is when you initiate the knee roll and edge transfer to the other side. it's also important to keep your speed up and stay aggressive on the boot.

it wont be as bad as the week after christmas to new years, but youre definitely getting around that busy time! should be fun though.
Have the chance to work at either the Bird or Park City this winter. Would have housing in PC or SLC, the commute up LCC despite the superior terrain is my biggest worry. Where would you choose Lucas?
Oof good question. I think working at the bird would be a pretty sick experience to say you did. The commute should definitely be a concern and not taken lightly. Park city will definitely be easier to get to and have a more family, ski town vibe/atmosphere to it. Personally I would choose park city just because it’s my home area.
Basically my thought process! Think I’m going to send Park City and use my IKON days for AltaBird. I’ll keep an eye out for you on the slopes this season.

@@LucasCatania17 it's not going to be long.. the mountains are already getting snow.. i did talk to someone today as far as why the leaves aren't turning colors yet.. maybe the trees are saying something.. i hope it doesn't mean that it is going to be a warm winter.. i know the farmers almanac says it is going to be a cold winter..
