Could have watched another hour of this -- more museum visits please!!!
Facts.
Screaming and crying at the horse bag. ICONIC. 😭
Epitome of coolness
@@zlatinkaquinones3733 I know, right??? If you whip out that kind of drip in front of me, I will worship the ground you walked on. 😩👌 #ShrineForRajiv
I don’t think it’s a horse it’s a lion
Its a lion from a Thom Browne collection
@@edgar5814 A must have for me
My heart swells and I am moved to tears watching your videos. It is the intrinsically captivating way you share the beauty in everything. You are a jewel, Rajiv. Thank you for enriching our lives❤️
So agree! Very well put!
You were so kind the curator. You asked him just the right questions to get him talking and making him feel at ease. Thank you for taking us to see the Tudors and Hans Holbein's work.
I absolutely love how Rajiv connected with this gentleman 🥰
He is the definition of an “old soul”. He’s perfect. I’m jealsssss ❤
No matter where I travel to in the world, I always seek out art history, the museums are a wonderful time capsule of incredible stories and exquisite art. I was in Madrid recently and visited Prado and I was like a kid in a candy store, seeing works that I have only ever seen on the page was like seeing celebrities in the flesh, I was giddy, I spent 7 hours in there! ...I don't know many people who really understand this, so thank you, Rajiv.
That’s so cool the Prado is iconic I believe Sorolla among others used to go in there to paint copies of Velasquez
I 100% get it! I like to slowly take in and absorb every detail of whatever I'm viewing and to read all of the provided facts. To the other extreme, my husband speeds through museums and any type of exhibit anywhere, zoo's etc. He does this shopping in stores as well, it drives me NUTS 🙄😂.
@@Earthy-Artistnoo i would be so anxious getting rushed loll i need to see EVERYTHING
Percy the purse! Love it.
Really fascinating.. maybe you could do more guided tours from amazing museums in New York? For those of us that can’t go… 😊❤
Oh, how I wish I was in New York! Henry's words! The tragedy we all face in loving the wrong person. Repercussions on a huge scale. Thanks for the most excellent visit!
I feel very fortunate to live in the UK and have easy access to many of these fantastic Tudor items, be that at the art galleries, royal palaces or stately homes. What I've been fascinated by recently and love spotting when I visit these locations is Jacobean crewel needle work (wool embroidered on linen). I know you've done something about lace but just wondering if ancient crewel needlework is something you have investigated more fully.
Museums really are a wonder aren’t they :)
It’s like walking into a dream or a portal into the past. The value of art oh. The pieces are too precious coming from the hands or true artist.
what was just as much of a joy as this tour and historical background, was watching you two connect with jubilee and passion over something so particular like the Tudors. It felt special watching you two and I feel so charmed by your bond!!
Rajiv, I enjoyed this so much, and could have spent much more time with you and these wonderful works of art.
I wanted that to be about ten times longer! Loved this and hope Met visits will become a regular feature on your channel.
Rajiv. Thank you!!!! I'm here in my little corner of Toronto blown away. Thank you for taking us to this exhibit. I learned so much. And Adam... wow. From the moment he opened his mouth. I feel the need to go back and look at the Tudors from the perspective of insecurity, because I never have. Thank you again.
Hi Rajiv, This was quite short, but beautiful in your choice of items and in-depth informative facts explained. In these modern times, where we rush around quickly and hastily, it blows my mind in the time they devoted to be absolutely perfect. I can't imagine the patience needed to write down in calligraphy with a quill made from a feather, and ink documenting Elizabeth's gifts. How long did it take to its completion? The Holbein painting is, there are no words to describe it, looks like actual velvet is used, no brush strokes, how? In the king's portrait, my eye was drawn to the embroidery design on each element in his clothing, cape, shirt, leggings, and even on the top of the garter. This was wonderful, Thank you Rajiv, and as always exhilarating. Thank you. ☺
Just saw this exhibit 2nd part in San Francisco, wish Rajiv were here too. Loved his passion for this art. I love it too, we know what the Tudors looked like because of Holbein, how he recorded them in paint, how he gave them life and power, the art in the exhibit is about the unseen hands that created all the beautiful things shown, for me. The many hands that created the armor, tapestries, garments, paintings, Holbein died in poverty, yet his art lives on. Thank you Rajiv !!
The Met museum is my happiest of happy places! Thanks for taking us along on your visit!
Love art history, the MET and the Tudors!! ❤
Such richly saturated content ❤
Couldn't believe that scroll - not only that it's from 1585 but really amazing there are no mistakes on it. The scribe must've been sweating at the end with the thought of getting so far but with the threat of a blob of ink before he could finish. Whoever they were, they must have had a surgeons hand and nerves of steel. I'm always interested in the buttons and fasteners on historic costumes along with the jewelry. The curator was very nice to give us a look at the exhibit and I really enjoyed it, thank you!
Lovely. The velvet, the poetry reading, thanks Rajiv.
🎉 LOVE! That movie, "Ever After! ❤❤❤❤
Fascinating. I remember going to Hampton court palace a few years ago and being able to stand on the stairs, and be in the same rooms that king Henry VIII would have stood in. Awe inspiring.
WOW...very lucky...how beautiful...thankyou for sharing this...what a magnificent excibition...at least I get to see it a glimpse through your video...thank you Mr. Surendra...🤗from south coast of Spain
I am like: “wait a minute!! He is leaving the dog hanging from the handle of the bike while he goes inside the museum???”
Until I realize its a bag…. Breathe deep, release 😰 Relief…..
Thank you Rajiv for another wonderfully informative video. Makes me wan to get on a jet plane and travel to my old stomping grounds. I love the MET.
I thought the same thing for a brief 2 seconds. 😆😆😆
Love Tudor history and the Met museum.
I love how this exhibit includes so many of the practical arts, like armory and calligraphy. These arts, because they are considered “crafts”, have been so undervalued until very recently, but they convey so much of people’s lives. Most importantly, they are beautiful, I consider them works of art as well as craft.
This was an improvement to the last Met Museum video. But I love you kept your quirks and magic with the visit. Both your attire, reciting the poem, and geeking out over the parchment. ❤ I really enjoy Rajiv’s channel.
I love The Met, and The Cloisters!
You added so much to the discussion of the scroll Rajiv. Respect. Love these museum visits. Thank you.
This is incredible because who isn't fascinated by the Tudors, and Rajiv brings such an compelling view to the history, but I would be genuinely interested in seeing him go to a modern art museum! I'm sure he would have incredible insights, or bring incredible questions, haha.
So interesting, Rajiv, thank you!
I totally agree with you Rajiv, the attention to detail with QE1's writers especially on a scale of a "rolling scroll" implies the highest quality of penmanship and meticulous record-keeping in that particular era, were quite overwhelming.
THAT SCROLL OF GIFTS TO QUEEN ELIZABETH YES I'M WRITING IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE I'VE NEVER EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN MY LIFE
IT'S REMARKABLE
IT'S PERFECT
NO YOU COULDN'T DELETE LETTERS
AND ONE PERSON IN HER WHOLE KINGDOM COULD WRITE LIKE THAT
Rajiv, I bet you went back to see this time and again I would. I would go there and look at it for hours I know I would.
The craft of things that people have made is so amazing and you have reinstilled in me a love for these amazing things and I have terrific gratitude to you for that.
Thank you❤
What a treat. This is a truly exceptional video.
I have been drawn to and fascinated by Elizabeth I, since childhood. I love Holbein's work, too. His skill and techniques are truly awesome.
Anne of 1000 days is my favorite too! I performed several pieces from that play in High School. ❤
Excellent, how about a second episode??
Relieved to hear Adam Eaker pronouncing 'Tudor' correctly, I'm a nitpicker, I knnow.
Hi Rajiv! Absolutely enchanting show. Thank you for cultivating such a comforting, deeply personal atmosphere in your videos. I’m curious-what jacket are you wearing while biking? It’s beautiful.
All the best,
Atlas
In awe😮
Thank you for sharing this beautiful Tudor art with all of us who can’t see it in person.❤
Part 2 with Adam😍🤩 im so curious about the textiles please Rajiv?
Love you! Thank you for being you! The sunshine you bring!!!! ❤❤❤
I am sure you watched the tudors....me to this family fascinates me . Thanks for this tour
You’re so lucky to have easy access to so much art and history.
I love visiting art museums, I used to visit the Columbus Museum of Art all the time when I was going to art school down the street from it, but I haven't been to a museum in so long. This was such a beautifully made video. Thank you!
Awesome video Rajiv. I love the Met, thanks so much!
Wow. I'm a retired art history instructor. I probably won't make it back to Europe again (I'm old) but I can make it to NYC to see this exhibit. I love Holbein! Incidentialy, my husband may be a descendant of Sir Thomas More.
Thank you for visiting my favorite museum! 🙏🥰❤️
A joy to watch!
I absolutely love the geeking out in this, and the calligraphy is just love! Thank you for taking us through this, Rajiv, and thank you Adam, for walking us through, it's amazing!
Could you please do a video on Calligraphy @Rajiv? That would be splendid. I love your channel so much!
This is my favorite video I wish it had gone on longer!
I loved your reading. If I was in casting you would be there. I love your videos. Thanks for the trip to the Met.
Thank you for the visit to the Museum, awesome indeed.
I will go on a journey with you to anywhere. You always have such a wonderful perspective.
Fabulous!!! Loved this video. It was so informative with lovely art. Thank you so much for sharing.
I can’t wait to go to the Met again…hopefully I can get a private tour next time…or just any guided tour would be nice
I love the history and culture of Early Modern Europe, thanks so much for sharing your Met visit with us, Rajiv. I love that you include so much attention to history and cultures in your life, access to cultural treasures id one of the best things about living in big cities.
There was definitely a spark between these two. I totally ship them.
Made me think of the movie "Quills" when they were discussing that document.
Holbein is one of my favorite painters of all time. The Italians thought they had the art world all wrapped up, but I’ve always loved the Northern Renaissance/Reformation painters. One can only take so many Italian, super-religious Catholic paintings, for one thing. The Italians were no doubt very talented, but Northerners brought secular subjects and a brilliant, fresh eye to painting and their technique is superb, especially Holbein’s.
Odd to see you reposting this video just after I came across my note about the gift list and listened to The Wubi Effect on Radiolab's YT channel.
This is all so fascinating! I really enjoyed learning about and seeing the calligraphy! Thank you for the video.
Another great video Rajiv. Very informative and enjoyable. Job well done. Thank you both for this video. 🙏
Hi Rajiv. Am from India. It's really therapeutic to watch your videos. In one of your cooking videos I saw that you use cast iron skillet. Can you please create a video on how you personally take care of them.😊
Rajiv, I bought your book on Audible! Love it.
thank you ♡
This is amazing ❤
Cool armor ! Also the queen was given a lion cub on record ?
I wish this was longer, so fascinating
I would love more museum content!
I feel so good watching your videos
Whoah! This was great. Thanks for another delightful video.I’m wondering if there is officially only one calligrapher that writes the entire gift list ?
Wonderful. Thanks
Rajiv, your videos bring me so much joy and appreciation for being alive. c:
I love watching your videos they are very relaxing I don't know if it is your Voice or the content of your videos. I just love watching them. And I also love all things from that era. Especially the clothes, my favorite time to watch a movie or a documentary on PBS is in the fall and winter time. Please keep your videos coming and thank you.
Love museums, love this Tudor collection,i went to the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow recently that is a fabulous museum as well.
I loved this episode, thank you!
What a wonderful topic for a video

Great video. Nice to visit somewhere I've never been
this was such a treat! thanks for sharing!!
Rajiv, please! As a fellow collector living in an apartment, how do you store all your wonderful bibs and bobs?? You have inspired me so much with all your wonderful collections from stoneware to vintage ribbon, but how do you keep it all organized in an apartment?
Wonderful. Full of love. Thank you.
Too short!!! Need this longeeeerrrr!!!!
Like before watching
Immediate “like” before I even watch it. ❤️
So glad the St Thomas More portrait is getting proper exposure while the Frick is renovated. So ironic that one of the most magnificent and realistic portraits of an actual saint was owned by a ferociously greedy man completely lacking in moral chatachter.
My favorite portrait of Katharine of Aragon!
