+Max McDougall and all that duty and honor stuff he spews when you meet him. Once mods come out, someone is gonna make a buzz lightyear paintjob for his power armor.
I disliked the BoS because of how they hate ghouls and synths along with mutants with no exceptions. That would mean they would kill the Vault Tec Rep, Hancock, Valentine, Virgil, and Curie... no exceptions. But this... this act of killing one of their most beloved members who didn't even know he was a synth... was legitimately wanting to help the BoS anyway possible... one who would risk his life for the greater good... and they want him dead and feel nothing for him? Unforgivable. It's one thing to stick to your codebook for what to do and what not to do... but they literally felt nothing for one of their best men. They didn't even say that it's sad that thry have to do this. Just that one fact that he isn't a real human makes him go from a great soldiet into one of their most hated enemies. They didn't even suspect that he was trying to relay information to the Institute. If they assumed he would do that then it's more understandable. They could say, "He's a synth. He most likely would've been programmed as a sleeper agent and at a moment's notice... could actually send every information about us that he knows to the Institute. We can't risk that." But no. That's not the reason. The reason is because he was a synth. Nothing more.
unfortunately all it would take is for a recall code to be told to Danse and he would shut down and become easy pickings. Maxson has legitimate reasons to take a hard line against this and in the end he lets you talk him down to exiling Danse which is pretty soft footed for a super soldier that could easily be captured and reprogrammed to fight against you via the recall codes
I'm sorry but no, we are talking about Danse, a paladin who spent years within BoS, he knows how everything works within the brotherhood, his strengths and weaknesses, although his loyalty is authentic, the institute only has to use the recovery code to turn him into a extremely dangerous enemy. Captain Kells was the one who recommended to Maxson that he should kill Danse before the institute finds him first, so not only is Maxon risking his position as an elder by letting Danse go, he's also putting the entire brotherhood in check.
btw the original West Coast Brotherhood never has such a massive hate-boner for mutants, and especially not for robots. Literally none of what Maxson says applies to the original principles of BoS, which is preservation of technology. Bethesda just couldn't operate without having some sort of shallow motivation for BoS, so they've chosen *-.racism.-*
The BoS is the most anonying faction since Fallout 1. In the first game they sent you to a god forsaken irradiated hole where many wastelanders died because the brotherhood told them that if they manage to retrieve a holotape from this place they can join (no one survive due to not knowing it was irradiated). In FO2 they don't appear since they are bothered collecting old world weapons instead of fighting the biggest threat to the wasteland, the Enclave. In Fallout New Vegas you learn how broken the BoS is, House explains you why their physolophy is broken and how they hoard tech in order to gain more power and not for improving the lives of those who live in the wasteland, plus you have the DLC dead money where you need to stop Elder Elijah from literally making the Mohave an inhospitable place. The only "redeemable" chapter of the BOS is the capital wasteland chapter when they help the lone wanderer fight the enclave and super mutants of DC but that only lasted until this asshole of Max (an annoying brat back then) assume the leadership of the East Coast BoS
This, right here, is what's wrong with the Brotherhood. Danse spent YEARS in service to the Brotherhood, killed countless mutants, raiders and other enemies in its name. What did that mean to Maxson? Nothing. Nothing at all. He wasn't human, so apparently he deserved to die. Maxson is a psychopath-- plain and simple. His men are his little toy soldiers, carrying out the goals he wants them do, bowing their heads in reverence whenever he so much as glances at him. Just the way he likes it. But when one steps out of line, intentionally or not, no matter how much that soldier has shown his loyalty or how much he has mattered as an asset, there's only one conclusion. Execution or worse, exile. Danse, in a best case scenario, has to live with the fact that his whole life didn't matter. Just because... Maxson said so. Worse, he has the full support of the Brotherhood of the West in every action he takes. Nobody will defend Danse. Nobody but you. I don't know about you guys, but I tore off Maxson's head, stripped him of his sweet coat and then ate his body to regain some health. Why? Because he deserved no less. He was a bitch and died like one.
+quete inrpot Yeah, I'm sure you're 100% right as we've not seen any characters pop up from Fallout 3, have we? *Cough* Doctor Li *Cough* Mayor McCready
The Brotherhood...left a bitter taste in my mouth in F3 they were shown as the Good guys, helping where needed, although a bit overzealous in exterminating ghouls and mutants, in New Vegas, we had a different brunch, of Horrible people. i played for House in NV, when he wanted me to blow them up, i sat down and thought, weren't they heroes or something? but considering how they treated me and veronica, it was clear, i had to blow them up, House was Right. and now this, the Once Knightly brotherhood became just like their Vegas counterpart, a Bunch Of racist dictators out to kill anything that's not Human, if i Work for them, that Means they will Most likely Kill Curie, Valentine, Hancock, because they are Synth's or Ghouls. I don't care What they Were, i only Care about what they are now, and if their victory means the death of my friends, then so be it, i won't work for them, and neither will i work for the Institute, so i either set up a *real* safe place with the Minutemen, Or blow Both the Institute and the Brotherhood up with the Railroad. sure, Lots of the Mutants might be Dumb as a Brick and Murderous, but would that Justify killing Marcus, or Fawkes? I'm not gonna work or Help somebody who considerers killing one, because they happen to be part of a race that's Mostly Hostile, if "That one" is an Excuse, it damn well deserves to stay Alive. (Yeesh, my Inner roleplayer got out again)
the lyons pride were an anomaly in the brotherhood, they were selfless and did what they needed to protect their bit of wasteland. I really liked my time with them in fallout 3. The next closest "good" BoS group would have to have been the Midwestern chapter from fallout tactics who actively fought a robot army for the greater good . The core western brotherhood has been more of a neutral faction focused on themselves. Complete assholes in 1 who tried to kill the vault dweller by sending him on a suicide mission which he survived so they recruited him to fight the super mutants. 2 they didn't show much face and didn't care for anyone around them. I heard dialogue between 2 brotherhood npcs saying that one would be shipped off to California, which probably implies Maxson repaired their ties to with the western brotherhood. The west probably allowed them to rejoin out of desperation as their numbers were seriously dwindling as they didn't recruit outsiders except in extreme situations. I can never see the western brotherhood approving of a lyons elder. So what I think happened is the outcasts reunited with the lyons brotherhood under maxson after the events of fallout 3, maxson does have aspects of both. The western the brotherhood is most likely warring with the NCR and new generations of super mutants, and in most new vegas endings the new Vegas BoS seem like a dying breed no matter the outcome, even if they are victorious with the NCR they were stuck in there old hostile ways, and would probably die out at some point. (I still have yet to finish the BoS questline so don't spoil me on this if I'm right or wrong)
first fallout game I played was 3, and much like you Lyons Brotherhood had brought me to the conclusion that will a little overboard the BoS were the best hope for the wasteland.... that is until I played the other fallout games, and learned that much to my disappointment Lyons' group were an anomaly. They were the exception not the rule of the brotherhood. Once I played fallout 4 I knew that unless the BoS in the Commonwealth were similar to Lyons that I should be ready to just use them for equipment(power armor and cores) since they mostlikely will not align with the ending I want in the fallout world.
+Lizzardtong The Brotherhood in Fallout 3 are not the real Brotherhood they seperated from their command to protect the people in the wasteland. The Outcasts are the real Brotherhood of Steel that are still following their mission, they are called Outcasts because the people of the wasteland didn't like them. Real brotherhood are pretty Extreme and mostly care about gathering technology from anyone who stands in there way.
that the Current Brotherhood is the real Brotherhood is nothing new to me, but probably for a lot of people a tough pill to swallow, My first Fallout was NW, after that i tried F3, if the Real brotherhood are a bunch of bastards, then consider me an enemy. part of me wishes they'd go back and become an anomaly, but the worst always finds a way. and i won't work for Xenophobic Racists. Part of me wants to Help railroad, since that way i blow up both BoS and Institute, on the other hand, i really wanna help the Minute man.
+JourneyML1 Less retconning and more taking the characteristics from both and mushing them together. And Beth didn't CHANGE them in F3. Lyons Brotherhood was a rogue chapter that was pretty much abandoned by the original BoS when they decided to be wasteland white knights after the Pitt fiasco.
The part where Danse says that he will forever be good made me tear up. Danse was never bad and fought for what he believed in, freedom of the Commonwealth. Over all, that scene was awesome
+Jack Penman See the Brothherhood as a Knights Order from the Christian Church and the Insitute as.. well Philosops, Scientists, Astronoms,.. See a Parallel?
Yeah that's the point of the whole thing, which makes it hard to decide. However, look at what happened when everyone got so technologically advanced - the nuclear war. The brotherhood is trying to prevent that, but they use extreme measures
+Jack Penman I'd much rather preserve the future of humanity, then ruin it all on the whim of dogmatic future crusaders. To me, and in my honest opinion, siding with The Institute is the good ending of the game. All the others are just a different shade of black.
+Daniel Plainview They are spread all over america..however they hate each other because they're so distance they have different beliefs on how technology should be handled. The western BOS (in FO:New vegas) are extremely strict and all about hording advanced tech and rarely if ever let any one join and only for super special reasons or in times of great need. The eastern BOS is more passive and more about protecting people they mainly act like Knights and let most people that show a skill in battle join, they also allow people to have advanced tech as long as they don't go crazy with it
I don't blame the brother hood for hating they synths (gen 1 and 2s) but I think their blind to the gen 3s from their hate of gen 1 and 2s Mr gusty in brother hood of steel = good loyal brother hood of steel is a synth???= no good
+Pouroddacloud Cloud they're clearer not the brightest of hypocrites.. i mean people. and they chose to halt technological advances because they see power they want, and they feel threatens. i would soon shoot curie(not really) then join the tyranny of steel.
I killed him because I loved him. I killed him because I loved the Brotherhood. He did his duty to the very end. A true paladin. Every synth I kill I do so in his memory. This game is still fucking shit, though, I don't know why I'm playing.
To be honest, Maxon’s reaction to finding out Danse was a Synth wasn’t totally unreasonable. Throughout the game, we hear about and even see how the Institute had kidnapped tons of people and planted doppelgängers into settlements to act as spies and pull strings from below. Danse being a Synth had the potential to be a huge security risk for Maxson’s BoS. Institute has eyes everywhere and if they found out the BoS was on a manhunt for their top Paladin that turned out to be one of their missing synths, I’m almost certain they would have gone after him as well with dozens of Coursers. Had the Institute got hold of him before we did, they could have used all of that intel in Danse’s memory against the BoS and foil their plans to destroy the Institute, weakening their position in the Commonwealth and eventually drive them out. Then the Commwealth’s citizens would continue to suffer under the Institute’s cruel experiments. Not saying it’s right that he wants us to kill Danse so easily but from a tactical, and moral standpoint of the greater good of saving the people of the Commonwealth, it’s understandable, albeit morbid.
The only bad thing about destroying the brotherhood is Haylen's death. She doesn't deserve death. :( If only you could get Maxie's coat without starting a war lol.
wow even as a Synth Danse never ever cross the brother hood of steel, he even gave you an order to kill him for the brothers, what a dedicated soldier, even tho he's a synth
I had to go back and rewatch this after I did the quest. Bethesda really stepped up the dialogue in this game, Maxon's speech to Danse and the player was intense.
+neballar Yes you can. One thing I like about FO4 is they did it NV Style. You fail the questline if you kill him. Just be prepared to get buttfucked by the 2 knights after you killed him.
I absolutely hate Elder Maxson. In my first playthrough I sided with the institute just so I could have a shot at killing that dick. The only people in the Brotherhood I actually liked were Danse and his team, and the one that builds stuff that doesn't have legs. The brotherhood definately seem to be the 'evil' choice in this game.
The institute are clearly the 'bad guys' they basically want to commit mass genocide. Father is just too much of a pussy to call it what it is. Father was in fact despicable piece of shit who grew up inside a lab knowing nothing of the world he wishes to destroy. Atleast Maxson served as a knight and then paladin out in the field before he rose to a position of prominence. His bleak outlook is more justified.
I was actually all for the Brotherhood up till this point. Fueled by the fact that Danse is my best friend in the game. After I got promoted to Paladin, I assassinated Maxson and took down the Prydwen with the Minutemen's artillery. Destroyed the rest of the Brotherhood when they came knocking on my impenetrable Castle. All for revenge.
Danse is like the most strongest companion you'll ever have in the game. He has a good weapon and a suit of powerarmor which never rund out of Fusion cores. FOR THE BROTHERHOOD
This sequence is so awesome. I had missed it in my game - I sided with the Institute - but I ended up killing Danse and found the Synth Component... and I was like, WOW! And I figured there must have been a thread in the game for this, but obviously I could no longer explore it. Glad I found this! Thanks!
danse turning out to be a synth is kinda like Buzz lightyear realizing that he is actually a toy. both had such pride in their respective alliance's and at the end when both found out who they really were they fell into a depressive/suicidal state and it took the words of a friend to snap them out of it. danse is Buzz lightyear
+Zack Wolf-Fox their whole attitude about anything unpure how they speak about technology and their armor design is very similar to super early early space marine armor it's actually quite cool maxson was totally reminding me of an imperial guard commissioner in this video
It'd be hilarious if you chose the option to kill him (and didn't convince him out of it) and just before he dies in the corner pops up [Danse Loved That]
"Flesh is flesh machine is machine the two were never ment to intertwined" well makes me think all the way back to me romancing synth curie and i would choose to do it again
If you do the main questline all the way to where you kill Kellogg, you finish killing him and go to the roof, where you are supposed to go. Now on the roof if you look up you will find the flying ship and will recive a raidio signal. Do what it says. After that it takes a SHIT LOAD of quests but, you'll get there. You're welcome.
I did the same thing, then I looked up “Danse is a synth?” And here I am, and ngl fuck maxson he’s the true machine, no heart for someone who was in the bos for years, did everything he was told, every order was fulfilled, and when he figures out he’s a synth, all of that is put aside because he’s the “enemy”, what danse has done proved he is more human that maxson will ever be, cold hearted bitch, my next play through I’m gonna cut off all his limbs and eat him, then place a synth component on his body cuz fuck him
When the game was like you need to kill the best companion in the game I was like NOPE. Danse friggin completely destroys attackers in my settlements single handedly, no way was I getting rid of him, plus he's awesome.
Really? I went on the wiki and it said that they had vanished from the Capitol wasteland and from what the brotherhood told me, all the events in the last fallout 3 DLC (I can't remember the name) happened as the good karma playthrough. I don't know how credible that part of the wiki is, especially since it said he disappeared in 2299.
I wouldn't put too much faith in my guess, because I still like to think that the original Vault Dweller is still alive and kicking and is roaming around the wastes as a masked ghoul.
I went to Danse. I talked him down. He told me his story. He asked to die. And so I put a .44 into his skull. He served well. With honor and pride. As I wear his suit. I wear it with honor. I remember the day I saw him. Shooting ferals to save Haylen and Ryhs. I remember the day we took down a Behemoth. He served us well unto the end. As a true Brother would. This in a nutshell, I went to him used my Charisma, he said he wanted to die, I executed him, became a Paladin, took his power armour, continued my duties as a Brother, became a sentinel, resprayed his armour, and when I killed any foes of the Brotherhood I remember him and how well he served. R.I.P. Danse.
did anyone else think for a second that Danse was the real Elder after Lyons, and Maxson was a double? Idk why, but I thought that. They put a big emphasis on Maxson's age and whatnot. And how it was odd he was Elder at 20. The thought just crossed my mind while playing, not sure if it would be cool or make much sense.
I'm sure most got this, but I'm still going to post It. Maxson: But if we're to remain strong, we can't afford to make exceptions... Even when it means executing one of our own. He's talkin bout Elder Lyon.
He did say "One of our own" Which makes me think that Maxson struggled to make the decision before the One Out of Time showed up. He still respects and admires Danse, but... gotta keep the policy strong.
So did the brotherhood figure out an AI dropped the bombs? Cause usually they are "technology in the wrong hands lead to the world being destroyed" not "technology out of control killed everybody"
***** Yeah that Vault-Tec thing came from a Fallout movie that Bethesda wanted to do that was never made, I assume because Uwe Boll wanted to be involved and bought the rights. I almost feel like that was exactly how they intended it to seem with the opening of the Vault-Tec salesman being nervous and relieved he got to you "in time." I was just questioning it because in Fallout 4 they seem to have taken a completely different stance on why they hoard technology.
Evidently as Danse has memories of growing up in Fallout 3, he was wounded beyond hope during a Recon Mission in Fallout 4. He was found by the Railroad and his memories put into a Synth and he continues on without the knowledge that he is a synth. This is the final explanation I can figure out. He is not a synth plant or spy, synths cannot age, etc, etc. So this is the only thing that could have happened. Danse's memory was transferred into a mind wiped synth and the real Danse died as a result of a Recon Mission. He is a generation 3 also so all of this happened somewhat recent to the players emergence from the vault. Shame about the BOS, Danse is the only decent member of the entire group. You can side with the BOS up to the point of No Mercy, take the Super Mutant Fort and then keep Danse and together build the Minutemen, defeat the institute with the Minutemen and the BOS never becomes aware that he is a synth. All live happily ever after and all factions are at peace. Oh.....give Danse an upgraded Plasma Rifle and watch him kill stuff.........Lol! He is a force to be reckoned with with a decent weapon. Cheers!!
This is my favorite quest in the entire game. The dialogue and emotion are top notch. Great work by Bethesda, hear, master storytelling despite what anyone says.
Thank you fort he video because a freaking deathclaw attacked me while I was in the middle of talking to Dance. I wasn't sure if I missed anything but it looks like I didn't miss much.
***** and then, you run the risk of this "race" believing that they're superior than humans, and start a war to wipe humans of the planet... Skynet, anyone? Also, they are nothing more than more realistic robots, so they can't be called a race, because they aren't living beings.
***** ok, buddy... if you believe that crap, it's your own problem... but humans are humans and synths are synths. Simple as that. Also gotta love the "there is no soul or spirit" when you can't even back that up, other than your personal beliefs, and not even a single scientist has denied the existence of a Soul/Spirit, other than mere speculation. Chances are that I'm dealing with an edgy atheist, so I won't even bother anymore, lol.
Even though I love the Brotherhood of Steel, I could never kill Danse. The whole time I thought he was human and then when I found out I couldn't go through with it and kill him. It's a hard situation, I hate the Institute but some of the synths they did create like Danse and Valentine, they showed me that 1-2 of them can be good and do good things.
Honestly I was reading through the institutes terminals, and I found the section that referred to “1 runaway synth located at the Boston airport” and I was like holy crap, that’s gotta be danse because he’s the only one that wasn’t on the airship when it rolled into the commonwealth. Edit: the particular synth Im referring to was 59-43 so I guess I was mistaken
Yann Pilgrim Fascist, perhaps, psychotic, hardly. Considering how it was bad decisions and the technology we used that destroyed the world in the first place, the brotherhood has every reason to stop any advancement that could lead to another "world-ending" scenario. I may not agree with everything he says, but I do like his determination and character. Everyone has different views though, so choose what you like. I sided with the Brotherhood. I can never agree that Synths are people, or in anyway are alive. I guess I'm not a HARDCORE brotherhood of steel member, I guess I more am likened to the old Lyons doctrine. I don't hate all synths, but I agree that in mass they can be a major threat. I do believe dealing with threats that actually are active enemies in the wasteland. I believe the Brotherhood is the most well-equipped force to do it. I suppose the primary reasons I chose them was A. Maxson seems sincere in wanting to aid the commonwealth, even if his views are extreme. B. I've always been a man who loves the military, and they're the most militarized faction you can possibly join besides the Minutemen C. Badass Power Armor D. I honestly just didn't care for what the Institute was doing. Trying to change what nature is just seems messed up to me. E. Yeah...I've always been a fan of the Brotherhood. Whatever. F. Vertibirds. Love dem vertibirds. G. And it's a game, nothing I do really makes that much of a difference anyway lol. All the endings are BASICALLY the same, except one faction or another maybe gets destroyed.
LikeabossIBA yeah I was disappointed with the lack of variety in endings and reasoning's, yes its a game but its also exercise for your opinions on soon to be real topics, why would synthetics be dangerous? because they can hold a gun?!... so can we, because they have emotions? so do we, because they could lose control? so could we (and do) surely being synthetic has no bearing on anything, to treat them as anything less than equal is racism.
Yann Pilgrim They were programmed, we were birthed. Computers never deserve to have the same rights as humans. The only reason we are having this discussion is because they act like humans, which is what they are DESIGNED to do. One cannot dismiss the possibility of a Skynet/Terminator scenario. They were already replacing humans with synths, if they did that on a massive scale, it would be the end of the world. Not only that, but they had placed Synths secretly already in key leadership areas of human populations (SPOILER: The mayor of Diamond City is found out to be a Synth) They are an abomination (at least to me) as to what it means to be natural. I don't care if AI's are made, go ahead. Just keep them out of human-like bodies, and isolate them in systems that cannot harm human beings. They are by no means equal to human beings, and at best are tools, and tools alone. Racism? Hardly. Again, they are machines. They are not African American, White, Asian, Mexican, they are not even in the same species. They are just really advanced computers. Nothing more, nothing less, built to copy human behavior. I guess in the end I'll always believe that to be alive, it has to be done naturally. Not through technology alone. But that's just my opinion. And it's probably why I'll always end up blowing up the institute either siding with the Minutemen or the Brotherhood each time. (Note: As to the comment about Fascism, although I'm not endorsing it, I would like to say that Fascism isn't ALWAYS bad, it generally is the leader that decides how it turns out. Obviously if you have a Hitler, things go to hell pretty quickly, but if you actually had an honorable noble leader, things could be decently efficient. Again, depends on the leader.)
Every time I see Maxson, I feel a mixture of sadness and shame. It should've been Sarah Lyons as Elder in the Prydwin. No, Bethesda killed her off in two or three sentences on some random terminal. I understand Owyn being dead by this time, he was older than dirt. But Sarah Lyon was still in her prime, and would still be in her prime! Bethesda just did that so the players would have to sit there and think "which side (BoS/Railroad/Institute) is the faction". Instead, that timid kid at the citadel becomes this megalomaniac genocidal zealot. It's a hell of a jarring (and disheartening) change from the renegade-noble BoS faction that they were. Also, it feels SUPER shoehorned in...
+Mattomaton While Arthur is genocidal he is not a megalomaniac. Arthur cares deeply about his men and is trying to help the humans of the Commonwealth and set up a feudal like government which is something the Institute and Railroad don't do. Not to mention the targets of his genocide are justified, Super Mutants 99.9% of time are pure evil, sane ghouls are ticking time bombs, and synths regardless of how you see them can not as a race of beings live without the Institute as they can't reproduce. +Iqbalx1 Impossible the eastern chapter do not murder people, especially their own.
The only frustrating thing to me? I just keep thinking "look could you just maybe holster your weapon, you look perpetually prepared to coffee-cream everyone within fourty miles spherically of your position". Still, I'm glad you uploaded this exchange. I wasn't looking to do BoS for some time.
Synth story Maxson : YOU ARE A SYNTH !!! YOUR NOT A REAL HUMAN , YOU ARE AN INSITUTE’S CREATION THING !!! Dance : You are a bossy , hating little Elder ... FAREWELL ! Maxson : Yeah , go on you strange robotic abomination ...
Don't know why everyone's so pissed at the Brotherhood. They were always like this. Just in Fallout 3 that they became the ''paragons'' of the wasteland. In the looks of the original intent of the Brotherhood, Maxson is doing one hell of a job. And can you blame him? Almost all of the synths they see in the wastes are Gens 1 and 2(similar to protectrons) and the synths are still being rememberd by the massacres they did in the Commonwealth. And they have the fame of killing people and replacing them afterwards. Not a really good propaganda for the Synths I imagine.
To all the people who claim that Synths can feel, how could you know that? Maybe Synths can feel. But maybe we are fooled by a perfect simulation of a human just like a child is fooled by a doll that says: "I love you." After all, the people in the Institute don't believe they could feel, exactly because they are programming the behaviour and changing it if they feel it isn't believable enough. Just like at your first encounter with the child-synth in which father judges his acting as "very disappointing." And if you ask him if he believes that a human could actually love a machine, he answers: "I guess that depends on how believable we manage to program their behaviour." It could be that they don't actually feel but solely pretend to fell because that is what they are made for.
Umm... when did the Brotherhood start hating technology? "Technology going too far" has never been the issue for them; even the most hardline chapters were all about keeping the shiniest bits all to themselves rather than letting it fall into the wrong hands. Between this, Bioware and 343, has consistent characterization somehow become illegal in the gaming industry?
+Devin Smith Its quite consistent. Like Lynch said the game kind of spells it out fairly enough. Its better explained when you consider that the Commonwealth Brotherhood is a part of the Capital Brotherhood, who were the so called goody two shoes in FO3 but for whatever reason or another, Maxson grew up and replaced both Lyons and Sarah and now seems to be trying to revert things back to the original Brotherhood ways of hoarding technology. So maybe he's a little more extreme even than the original west coast Brotherhood because of that. The Brotherhood was also very much about keeping humanity pure as well remember. Originally at least.
+Kiyosuki Elder Lyons died and 2ish years after Broken Steel, Elder Sarah Lyons died in battle and the teaching of Maxson was taken over be the rest of the Order who didn't didn't share the more open views of the Lyons. Lone Wanderer ditched town around that time.
minutemen or bust, tbh. BoS was great, then showed their facism quickly. institute is science gone overboard, becoming wetland yutani mixed with skynet. god damn the decisions in this game. I'll side with the institute, I'm sick of the new BoS, since the days of the Lyons passed.
Too true. The Institute might kill everyone but at least they intend to fix shit afterwards. Hell they probably could too. BoS doesn't seem capable of doing anything but BoS stuff. Steal tech and shoot people people. Honestly I'd say help the people who are actually producing tech rather than just stealing it XD
This my friends....was what made me betray the brotherhood for the first time....i was not loyal to the brotherhood, but to danse. one of the most memorable characters. like if youre with me!
This was the Fallout that made me disgusted with the Brotherhood, I sided with the Institute and blew that fucking airship out of the sky. Elder Lyons would be ashamed of what they've become
when buzz Lightyear realizes he's a toy
YES
I swear he's buzz. Everything about him points to it
YOU ARE A CHILDS PLAY THING!
@@nastyaesthetix555 Danse proceeds to leap off a building to fly.
Danse was definitely inspired by Buzz.
Hahahaha, God I love this game. "We need to kill all synths no exceptions!!!!! Oh hey nick hows the detective job going?"
@asian dude The detective is a synth.
its been 1 year and he hasnt returned from defeat
"It's time for me to die, I've completely accepted my fate and I know I'm a synth."
"nah"
"Wow. You've opened my eyes. I won't die."
Just like convincing Dr. Li. "I'll never work with the brotherhood again for as long as I live" "you sure?" "ok, ok, you got me."
Well, the fact that you had to find him proves he doesn’t really believe that. If he did, he’d either turn himself in, or you’d find his corpse.
I bring nick valentine to pryden he's fine
paladin danse hell no!
does danse remind anyone else of buzz lightyear?
+Jason Anton LOL its all the hood
+Jason Anton clooney
+Max McDougall
and all that duty and honor stuff he spews when you meet him.
Once mods come out, someone is gonna make a buzz lightyear paintjob for his power armor.
+Jason Anton he does now, haha
+Stewart Hughes I know right exactly what I thought too!
If only you could get Danse to the the leader of the brotherhood...
I slaughtered him
+Damon Katumaru Killed Danse and all the Brotherhood and used artillery to nuke the shit out of the Prydwen.
RIP Commonwealth's Brotherhood of Steel.
+Leo Huynh I made Liberty Prime think Prydwen was a communist target so it shot the airship down.. that big bang tho :D
+Damon Katumaru I wish Lyons survived
+Damon Katumaru I know right!
One of the best scenes in fallout, if your speech is high enough its pretty easy to keep Danse alive
+Jaeden Lizardo How do you get speech up?
+Haos51 Points into Charisma.
+Jaeden Lizardo Alternatively, you could keep Danse alive by simply subtracting the head of the organism titled " Elder Maxson"
Curie is optional to be in a dead synths body, not a real synth
+Drake Jellison You know, it's Brotherhood of Steel. Steel has no heart, no emotion, they are the true machines.
Scribe haylen also defends Danse
Maxon even KNOWS that he's a rogue Synth and not one that follows orders from his creators, but that doesn't matter
I'm confused why your profile pic isn't a gigachad. Respect to you, brother.
Maxxon literally spearheads the attack on the Institute, he's there fighting side by side with you.
Probably Danse will stay alive to the next fallout 5
+Duck360Gaming2 just killed him because i sided with the institute.
+Ihate Googleplus The Brotherhood man, they will save the commonwealth.
+quete inrpot Yeah, I'm sure you're 100% right as we've not seen any characters pop up from Fallout 3, have we?
*Cough* Doctor Li
*Cough* Mayor McCready
+Thomas Lee
Cough Arthur Maxon
+Thomas Lee *cough* Elder Maxson
If you want to laugh abit, here is a collection of sarcastic options in fallout 4 ruclips.net/video/V3XwM6tsFVw/видео.html
+Duck360Gaming2 fuck off
+Kopuz (lucidpotato) Lol, why? XD
peterbloucks
I can't remember but there must of been a good reason otherwise I wouldn't of said it.
I need to visit the memory den.
Apparently. xD Guy hasn't done anything bad so I was confused as to why you lashed out like that xD
Bethesda has successfully made my decision to annihilate the BoS easier than it thought it would be.
The Brotherhood...left a bitter taste in my mouth
in F3 they were shown as the Good guys, helping where needed, although a bit overzealous in exterminating ghouls and mutants, in New Vegas, we had a different brunch, of Horrible people.
i played for House in NV, when he wanted me to blow them up, i sat down and thought, weren't they heroes or something? but considering how they treated me and veronica, it was clear, i had to blow them up, House was Right.
and now this, the Once Knightly brotherhood became just like their Vegas counterpart, a Bunch Of racist dictators out to kill anything that's not Human, if i Work for them, that Means they will Most likely Kill Curie, Valentine, Hancock, because they are Synth's or Ghouls.
Real brotherhood are pretty Extreme and mostly care about gathering technology from anyone who stands in there way.
that the Current Brotherhood is the real Brotherhood is nothing new to me, but probably for a lot of people a tough pill to swallow,
My first Fallout was NW, after that i tried F3, if the Real brotherhood are a bunch of bastards, then consider me an enemy.
part of me wishes they'd go back and become an anomaly, but the worst always finds a way. and i won't work for Xenophobic Racists.
So he is Buzz Lightyear After all.
Yes and Preston Garvey Is Woody
The part where Danse says that he will forever be good made me tear up. Danse was never bad and fought for what he believed in, freedom of the Commonwealth. Over all, that scene was awesome
True Identity & BEYOND!
Fallout 4: Paladin Danse's True Identity (PS4/1080p)*
You mispelled the video title.
youngbreezy ho After you.
Anybody realize Maxson is voiced by the same guy who voices Mr.Jefferson in Life is Strange? 😂
Holy shit I didn’t know that
To Maxson, synths are like the selfies of humans.
I knew he sounded familiar
Give Maxson a suit and eyeglasses, you can definitely see the resemblance.
Thats funny i thought that too that’s crazy
I think the brotherhood is lodged in the past, the institute looks towards the future
The brotherhood is trying to prevent that, but they use extreme measures
yeah I'm rooting for the Institute, just feel like an asshole for hurting nick, and pepper feelings.
We are tommorow
+Jack Penman I'd much rather preserve the future of humanity, then ruin it all on the whim of dogmatic future crusaders. To me, and in my honest opinion, siding with The Institute is the good ending of the game. All the others are just a different shade of black.
"Technology thats gone too far"
Is this guy forreal he has a giant airship and loads of power armor
Not to mention a big robot that throws nukes like rocks
Jesus, how many detachments of the Brotherhood are there now?
This was the one from the capital wasteland Lyons lost his position
+Daniel Plainview There are actually more than 10 detachment throughout the US continent.
This is the same brotherhood from Washington. Just a new elder.
+wesley kielski both of the Lyons are dead.
Elder lyons of age, Sarah Lyons was made elder and died in combat.
+Daniel Plainview
They are spread all over america..however they hate each other because they're so distance they have different beliefs on how technology should be handled.
The western BOS (in FO:New vegas) are extremely strict and all about hording advanced tech and rarely if ever let any one join and only for super special reasons or in times of great need.
The eastern BOS is more passive and more about protecting people they mainly act like Knights and let most people that show a skill in battle join, they also allow people to have advanced tech as long as they don't go crazy with it
I don't blame the brother hood for hating they synths (gen 1 and 2s) but I think their blind to the gen 3s from their hate of gen 1 and 2s
Mr gusty in brother hood of steel = good
loyal brother hood of steel is a synth???= no good
+Pouroddacloud Cloud Man, you can't just forget 2.5 Nick like that!
+Pouroddacloud Cloud they're clearer not the brightest of hypocrites.. i mean people. and they chose to halt technological advances because they see power they want, and they feel threatens. i would soon shoot curie(not really) then join the tyranny of steel.
***** yeah I find it weird
I bring nick to pryden no problem
Paladin Danes? We got a problem
+DYNAMIC No one could (purposefully) shoot best companion.
+Pouroddacloud Cloud Mr Gutsy is not an Institute creation.
I killed him because I loved him.
I killed him because I loved the Brotherhood.
He did his duty to the very end.
A true paladin.
Every synth I kill I do so in his memory.
This game is still fucking shit, though, I don't know why I'm playing.
*****
Both
+GodzillaCO i did the main story in one day thay not good at make games look at skyrim so many thing are wrong
Did you get promoted?
+GodzillaCO the game is amazing! are you high on jet or something?
+GodzillaCO The graphics are shit, the gameplay itself is alright.
Fallout Australia edition no death claws but a kangaroo cross croc
I'm picturing something like a Daedroth from elder scrolls
Danse should join Midwestern BOS instead.
Completly agree
That’s not why he’s upset tho. That would be a logical and understandable reason. They’re just upset he’s a synth. Period. Nothing else. That’s BS.
The only bad thing about destroying the brotherhood is Haylen's death. She doesn't deserve death. :(
If only you could get Maxie's coat without starting a war lol.
there's a mod for it
Crow Jane haylen didn't die for me
Crow Jane mods son lol
It gutted me when I had to destroy the Prydwen and I couldn't save PAM and the cat.
I’ve had the brotherhood out to kill me for stealing a prewar book.
wow even as a Synth Danse never ever cross the brother hood of steel, he even gave you an order to kill him for the brothers, what a dedicated soldier, even tho he's a synth
I would keep him even if he is synth
I had to go back and rewatch this after I did the quest. Bethesda really stepped up the dialogue in this game, Maxon's speech to Danse and the player was intense.
Wait, there's a cat onboard the airship? Damn... now I'm not so adamant about blowing it up...
MrJustinArt I'm so sad that I blew up a cat... UHHHHHHH sob sob
Don't worry, cats always land on their paws.
Could I kill Marxson to change wtf could happen?
+neballar you can kill whoever you want
+neballar Yes you can. One thing I like about FO4 is they did it NV Style. You fail the questline if you kill him. Just be prepared to get buttfucked by the 2 knights after you killed him.
What if I killed him right here would they junt me down?? Arthur Wellesley
neballar Yes of course....
Good thing I like maxson's coat
I absolutely hate Elder Maxson. In my first playthrough I sided with the institute just so I could have a shot at killing that dick. The only people in the Brotherhood I actually liked were Danse and his team, and the one that builds stuff that doesn't have legs. The brotherhood definately seem to be the 'evil' choice in this game.
+The Avatar yeh as soon as i met him there was something very wrong and off with him
+The Avatar LOLOLOLOOLLOL LMAO
+The Avatar I felt really bad when I had to kill all of them (besides danse)
The institute are clearly the 'bad guys' they basically want to commit mass genocide.
Father is just too much of a pussy to call it what it is. Father was in fact despicable piece of shit who grew up inside a lab knowing nothing of the world he wishes to destroy.
Atleast Maxson served as a knight and then paladin out in the field before he rose to a position of prominence. His bleak outlook is more justified.
The1Floyd father was quite honest about what he wanted to do. regardless, you become the new director and can lead the institute where you want it.
It feels like there are so many factions in the brotherhood now, guess just luck drawing lots we got the extremist ones.
"Most difficult order I have ever given..."
*Has the option to allow him to kill Danse*
Doesn't seem very difficult for you!
Thanks!
Danse always was a toy 😉
danse turning out to be a synth is kinda like Buzz lightyear realizing that he is actually a toy. both had such pride in their respective alliance's and at the end when both found out who they really were they fell into a depressive/suicidal state and it took the words of a friend to snap them out of it. danse is Buzz lightyear
the brotherhood reminds me of the Ultramarines
Same here bruh
+Tittytacos why's that?
+Zack Wolf-Fox their whole attitude about anything unpure how they speak about technology and their armor design is very similar to super early early space marine armor it's actually quite cool maxson was totally reminding me of an imperial guard commissioner in this video
Oh my god now I hate them even more XD I wonder who's who? Maxon seems a bit Cato Sicariusish
+Tittytacos You're planting so much hope for a Dark Heresy mod for this game, bruva.
The last Vance of Lance Dance.... wait, wrong game xD
It'd be hilarious if you chose the option to kill him (and didn't convince him out of it) and just before he dies in the corner pops up [Danse Loved That]
Maxson's words are very powerful, on what he viewed the world and the institute
Shit...that dialogue was spot on. Technology is moving so fast, it might really kill us all.
Quinlan has an uncanny resemblence to Tyrell from Blade Runner. Possibly not a coincidence considering the subject matter?
+thevoxdeus or Medic from TF2
There is a Blade Runner reference somewhere in the Commonwealth. I have no clue where it is
"Flesh is flesh machine is machine the two were never ment to intertwined" well makes me think all the way back to me romancing synth curie and i would choose to do it again
I tried to persuade Maxson to let Danse live, but my charisma was too low, I can't believe he has to die, he literally had all of my adhesive!
I'm sorry that danse died in your one
When do these missions start exactly? All I keep getting are radiant quests from that chick scribe and sir douche bag
Do the main quest line
+Kev Urbie sir douche bag hahah
U talk to Danes when your ready to go to the ship
If you do the main questline all the way to where you kill Kellogg, you finish killing him and go to the roof, where you are supposed to go. Now on the roof if you look up you will find the flying ship and will recive a raidio signal. Do what it says. After that it takes a SHIT LOAD of quests but, you'll get there. You're welcome.
Cool, thanks. Now do you have any idea how to raise affinity with Curie??
KYLE KAZ
Sad thing is, I killed Danse at the police station and searched his body just to find Synth Components. It blew my mind!
Cuz he crazy
In the memory of the true paladin DANSE
The best companion (friend) in this damn game
We love you
+dan mariscal and We want to danse with you
Danse isn't just a synth; he's a synth being controlled by a Reaper.
Man, where the fuck is the Lone Wanderer during all this shit? It's only been ten years so he can't be dead.
+Jackson Shanahan Canon ending is his sacrifice for Project Purity.
Oh, I forgot about the DLC that continued the story. All of that was canon. In that case, your guess is as good as mine.
I wouldn't put too much faith in my guess, because I still like to think that the original Vault Dweller is still alive and kicking and is roaming around the wastes as a masked ghoul.
He'd be chillin in his spaceship.
When Maxson give you the choice of killing Danse, or letting him kill Danse, can you just shoot Maxson instead?
Then danse and probably the vertibird would attack you
The Brotherhood always annoyed me with their tech destroyed everything so let's take it all for ourselves even that kid's gameboy!
More better then whole twilight story and if fallout ever get a TV series I'll definitely watch it
I went to Danse.
Once Danse started talking about accepting his fate, I am not going to lie that pulled at my heart strings.
He did say "One of our own"
Which makes me think that Maxson struggled to make the decision before the One Out of Time showed up. He still respects and admires Danse, but... gotta keep the policy strong.
You can Danse if you want to, you can leave BoS behind...
I almost feel like that was exactly how they intended it to seem with the opening of the Vault-Tec salesman being nervous and relieved he got to you "in time."
I was just questioning it because in Fallout 4 they seem to have taken a completely different stance on why they hoard technology.
+TheVerySeriousLewis the only thing Uwe Boll should do is make more youtube videos starring his face
"Paladin Harkness -- I mean Danse, is a perfect match for one of those synths."
I see what you did with this mission, Bethesda.
"as a human being" lady you do realize I'm a generation 4 prototype courser right?
Nice man! I like what you did to save Danes
Thank you fort he video because a freaking deathclaw attacked me while I was in the middle of talking to Dance. I wasn't sure if I missed anything but it looks like I didn't miss much.
LOL at the people comparing the BoS to the nazis and saying the synths are a "race"
Well, it's because "Synth discriminator" is just a mouthful compared to "racist".
Lyu Kang Yep Unicorn is a race too because it's a living being.
Well they are fascists.
Edit: the particular synth Im referring to was 59-43 so I guess I was mistaken
wow, I was not expecting maxson to show up there, he could have done the job himself! Lovely vid.
As much as I liked Danse....I still got to agree with Maxson. Gosh, the decisions of this game.
+LikeabossIBA I love Fallout 4 man
+LikeabossIBA you know maxson is a facist right? his views are extreme and psychotic.
So did you get the promotion or not?!?!?
You done talking to Maxon and that synth? Good.. Now a settlement needs your help, here i will mark your map with its location
one way to solve all the problems of not wanting to betray anyone. the minutemen ending
Baad Maxson, synths are people too.
I'm pretty sure the brotherhood killed Sarah because they disagreed with her ideas
Nope I like the fact Sarah died, I liked her but since Lyons died and elder Maxson took charge the BOS went to full dog shit
Phil Mc crackin
What do you mean by that? They're still good guys.
I think operation valkyrie fixes that easily with Sarah faking her death and returning to take over the commonwealth Brotherhood.
Synth story
Maxson : YOU ARE A SYNTH !!!
Power armor? join institute.
Armor? join Brotherhood
Experience points? join Minutemen
Piece of a shit? join railroad
Technology wasn't to blame. Mankind carries the sole blame
Screw the Brotherhood of Steel! They might be badasses, but they are jerks! Minuteman are the real goodguys in here.
Quinlan looks like the doctore from tf2
MEDIC!
+nlGraffix "doc come on man" who is this
lmao i love your little speed boost when you saw that quantum at 7:09
I got so mad at maxson that I had suspicions that he was a synth himself...so I took a knife and *checked*
I can't help but think this maxon guy is wearing a gimp costume
Maxson's speech is probably the best performance in all of FO4, well-written and clear.
I WANNA CRY
This quest hit me Right in the Feels.
Umm... when did the Brotherhood start hating technology? "Technology going too far" has never been the issue for them; even the most hardline chapters were all about keeping the shiniest bits all to themselves rather than letting it fall into the wrong hands. Between this, Bioware and 343, has consistent characterization somehow become illegal in the gaming industry?
+Devin Smith Play the game and you will get it.
since fallout 1 man they were only different in 3 as goody two shoes
Richard Shiflett I know.
minutemen or bust, tbh. BoS was great, then showed their facism quickly. institute is science gone overboard, becoming wetland yutani mixed with skynet. god damn the decisions in this game. I'll side with the institute, I'm sick of the new BoS, since the days of the Lyons passed.
+I am a Puppy New Bos? Lyons Bos swayed away with the original motives of the BOS basically the same as FO:NV
+I am a Puppy you do know that this is a prequel right? this takes place at the same time as fallout 1 when the master is doing all of his crazy shit.
+I am a Puppy Railroad is so much better than every other option
+I am a Puppy Side with the minutemen bruh
Bethesda had so much potential with the whole synth concept. I really hope they expand on it more with dlc or even in future Fallouts.
u need more subs man u the bomb👌🏾👌🏾
This my friends....was what made me betray the brotherhood for the first time....i was not loyal to the brotherhood, but to danse. one of the most memorable characters. like if youre with me!
This was the Fallout that made me disgusted with the Brotherhood, I sided with the Institute and blew that fucking airship out of the sky. Elder Lyons would be ashamed of what they've become
hey Maxson, how did it feel getting vaporized? oh and thanks for the coat, it looks a lot more snazzy on my SS than it did on you :-)
You made good choices. Thumbs up.
Hard to believe that little boy in the citadel all nervous and interested in super mutants would grow up into a super narrow minded badass.
