While I agree with your logic for what you called Spessia, I think Estam might be what you called Spessia and Spessia might be what you called Estam. My logic? Maybe the map is a map of "Where the Titans are at this time of year." This would explain how Addam's brother fled to Genbu, who was right nearby Torna, and also explain how Lora and Addam's Militia fled to Spessia in such short time.
The party went from Gormott to Spessia though, so it would've taken FOREVER to get to Spessia from Gormott, if the avian-looking titan north of Torna on the map was Spessia instead. And you could apply the same logic for Estham in a different way, too. If Estham was the titan to the west of Gormott on the map, then Mikhail most likely would've been sold to another titan, instead of Torna, as the 2 titans would be VERY far away.
My theory for why Genbu is so big is that, at this time, it had a MUCH larger population with a tropical climate. Genbu has towers and towers of ancient architecture with enough space for massive amounts of people, and it wasn't until later that they started siphoning its ether. Plus, it must have been pretty important to be a site of the Aegis War.
Sam M. I think so actually. During that side quest with the cooking contest, Addam introduces Hugo with “from the plains of Mor Ardain” So it was probably not super green, but we know it wasn’t a desert.
Yep, it definitely would have. Probably not SUUUPER green, but definitely a lot more green than as seen in the main game... But just IMAGINE Mor Ardain in it's prime though, being like, almost COMPLETELY green! That would be pretty crazy, although, due to the volcanoes on it's back, and some of it's other features, i doubt the titan was ever actually THAAAT green, but definitely at least a decent bit, and maybe a lot in certain spots, such as the Chansagh Wastes...?
@@samm.8052 Shame we'll likely never get to see it... officially, anyway? IDK, maybe somebody could mod what they think Mor Ardain would've looked like around TTGC time, in XC2: DE or even just XC2, but i think XC2: DE would definitely be more likely, especially because XC2's been out for a LOOONG time now, and nobody has done so already...
I love the consistency of this map they put Genbu as the closest titan to Torna. This makes perfect logical sense that a lot of Tornan refugees ended up there
Glad I wasen't the only one thinking about this. When I first say this in game I took a picture of it for future reference to potentially analyze. So I'm really glad your doing it.
I noticed something interesting: Genbu is called "Luxuria" in the map (Tantal's name in the Japanese version). Since this map is from before the Aegis War, this would mean that "Luxuria"/"Tantal" predates the name of the Kingdom of Luxuria/Tantal. So, it probably is just another name for Genbu.
OR, Tantal existed as a nation somewhat like how Gormott did in TTGC, and just like it, didn't really have a unified government or anything, and was just occupied by a ton of tribes, and other non-nation groups. Tantal was likely a name used when talking about all of those tribes and/or groups together, but if referring to the Titan itself, you'd obviously call it Genbu instead.
No, it didn't. It didn't look draconian or avian at all, and it sure as heck wasn't NEARLY as big. The titan that died near the begining of the game looked like a similar titan type to Uraya & Genbu, and even made a whale-like sound as it fell beneath the surface of the cloud sea.
Ik... I wish we could get a prequel where we could visit Estham, Spessia, Coeia, Judicium, whatever titan the cliffs of Morytha used to be, old, greener Mor Ardain, Tantal before the aegis war and the Tornans settled there after the destruction of Torna, and plenty more places that I might have forgot. I would really love to know more about these titans and the civilizations that once lived on them.

I feel like they just showed Genbu on the map to show that the Titan was close enough for some of Tornans to have escaped to it. What I never got though was that there's this whole elaborate, huge ruin in Tantal that's explicitly stated to have been from the Aegis war. So clearly there was a civilization living there before the Tornans took over. What happened to them? Was everyone wiped out by Malos and the Titan left empty maybe? In any case, awesome video! I love this lore kind of stuff, and was hoping someone would explore Hugo's map in a bit of detail.
I doubt the attack on Tantal during the Aegis war was THAT devastating, especially because only a small part was affected in the war. As for what happened when the Tornans came, since the country was already known as Tantal/Luxuria, (which we can find out by translating the Alrestian alphabet) we can assume that the Tornans came and united Tantal under one banner, and turned into a kingdom, the Kingdom of Tantal, as before, it was likely just a bunch of tribes and/or other groups that collectively, were known as Tantal. (And then of course, the titan itself is named Genbu, which i'm going to assume was already known by the Tantalese, by this time.) Although, there is one problem with this explanation. And that is with the fact that the Kingdom of Tantal was cast under a complete lie of the Tantalese being descendants of Addam, and i don't think that this could've worked if there were still native Tantalese people on Genbu before the Tornans arrived... unless it was explicitly stated and made clear that those natives in particular were exempt from being descended from Addam, for the one obvious reason.
Actually luxin I think that the one near gormott is estham and the other one is spessia since you can see the environment from the titans and the one near coeia looks like it has forests and a big tree on its back and spessia is seen with big forests so that one is spessia and the other one is estham
No, this can't be right. (Judging by the route the party takes during the ending.) Also, the avian, draconian-looking titan directly north of Torna on the map doesn't look like it has forests and a big tree on it, to me.
It's never named, and we never learn anything about it... it was a pretty small titan though, seemingly not THAT much bigger than Gramps. (But still quite a decent bit bigger, i think.)
That spiky squood tentacle-looking thing? Now that i think about it, it kinda DOES look like it has a tail... interesting! (I still doubt this though, even considering that it IS at least somewhat close to Torna.)
Love your channel man! Have a request or two for a video, hope you dont mind. What would have been in your opinion given unlimited development time and resources a better second titan in torna instead of gormott (that is if you think there is one) mythra is confirmed to have been to uraya and tantal during that time so ya. A second one would be why do you think they put so much emphasis on tornan full blooded people having blue eyes if the isolationist tantal people all have yellow even though their direct descendants with the exception of Zeke who does have blue eyes and why do you think they dont have said blue eyes? Retcon maybe? Hope to hear your thoughts on these one day!
You know, that's weird. Considering that at LEAST the royal family of the Kingdom of Tantal is descended from Zettar, they all at least SHOULD have blue eyes, but my guess is that Tantalese natives managed to mix with the royal bloodline, and/or some of the bloodlines of the city folk.

Thinking about titans one random thing I always wondered is: what elements where these titans when they were blades. I’ve actually thought about this quite a bit and I think I narrowed down the ardanian titan to be dark element because of the weird dark rain that Mor Ardain has. Anyone else have any ideas?
Gormott could be earth, because so much greenery is there, Uraya would be water, Torna would be light or fire, Indol could be either light or wind, Genbu could be a water blade because it began to freeze once its aether was drained, Leftheria would be a mix of elements because it is a mix of titans, Argentum would be wind?
In the main game, There is a cutscene when heading to the head, where Azurda mentions that it was involved in the Aegis War. Ceoia, is a good guess, and by its proximity to the World Tree it may have become the Cliff's of Morytha. Uraya appears to be above Torna (slightly rotated clockwise.) but it could be Estham. It also appears that the Letherian Titan is hinted at between Mor Ardain and Indol, You see several trade ships in that region and we know that is where its placement is in the main game. The squid tentacles would probably be the arms before all the lesser titans showed up. We know it is an annex of Torna from Addam during Torna's ending.
I don't understand how you see what Luxin called Estham as being Uraya instead, and surely, if Uraya were on this map at all, it would be labeled in big, clear text, right? Also, i'm not sure if the position of what you're calling Uraya and Mor Ardain would make sense, considering that Temperantia is supposed to be in-between Mor Ardain & Uraya acting as a demilitarized zone in the main game, but there isn't much room in-between Mor Ardain & Uraya for Temperantia to fit in there, and even if there was, Temperantia would surely be visible, and likely also labeled.
@@lemmyxpro I am glad you replied, but holy crap this was years ago, I had to go back and even figure out what exactly my thought process was, but I am caught back up to speed. Mor Ardain is located and marked on the map in the top right. I was assuming at the time at the large titan directly south of Mor Ardain is Uraya. I don't think it is Tantal because Tantal is suppose to be hidden. Temperatia might not be where it is in the main game because it is a dead titan, only just floating in the cloud sea. It could only be moving due to the wake of the other titans. I am thinking that Temperatia might be the titan that is label with what looks like AMR in the bottom left. I think the one directly south and the one to the right are Croatia and Estham. With the one to the right being Estham being more populated and more likely to have a trade network setup.
@@sethwest7655 Sorry about that, lol, but regardless, thank you for replying! Anyways, that's pretty clearly Genbu and not Uraya, as it looks like it, has text above it that translates to "Luxuria", (Tantal in Japanese) and also because Tantal wasn't forced to be deep under the cloud sea at this time. It only started abiding by that when Amalthus struck his deal with the Kingdom of Tantal, likely short after the ending of Torna. Next, the titan with the text "AMR" next to it is actually Coeia. This can be confirmed because, once again, the text "AMR" in the Alrestian alphabet translates to "Sia" which is Coeia in Japanese, although i do have to admit that from how the titan looks on this map, how Coeia looks, and how Temperantia looks, it's clear to see that the titan looks much more like Temperantia. Regardless though, this is still clearly Coeia. Onward, this is something i have to clarify, as i feel like i do far too often, but Temperantia is not a dead titan. Otherwise, it would've sunken to the bottom of the cloud sea, exactly like the Tornan titan, Coeia, AND Indol did, and it would have NOT kept orbiting the world tree as usual. After all, Temperantia is clearly stated to be in-between Mor Ardain & Uraya, and it even acts as a demilitarized zone between the two nations.
@@sethwest7655 Also, the one directly south and right of what? The World Tree? If that's what you mean, then i can agree with you on Estham being the avian, draconian-like titan, but of course, because of what i already said, i obviously disagree with you on the titan south of the World Tree being Coeia. My only logical guess is that this titan is the Cliffs of Morytha, as it doesn't really look like any other titan we've ever seen, and as we know, the Cliffs of Morytha has rotted significantly by the time that we visit it in the main game of XC2. We don't know how long the Cliffs of Morytha have been rotting, or how the titan didn't just sink, (unless it's alive, which is kinda weirdly hinted at in Morág's line in the cutscene right after you get to the Cliffs of Morytha, but wouldn't really make sense since it's rotting, and clearly has been for a long time) but that doesn't really matter. (Although, judging by how this titan looks on Hugo's map, it may have already been rotting??? No, i HIGHLY doubt it, because it'd probably take forever to rot that much to get such a weird shape, and if it had begun rotting almost at all, it'd have likely been taken off of maps quite a long time ago, so i'm led to believe that if this titan IS the Cliffs of Morytha, that the titan had only been rotting for just a tiny bit less than 492 years, at most.)
@@lemmyxpro Sorry meant to say directly south and right of the world Tree. If Luxuria is Tantal then, then Uraya isn't on the map, as from there are only 3 titans that go under/into the cloud sea that we know of, Tantal, Uraya, and the main Letherian titan. What didn't occur to me until now is that Coeia and Temperantia may be the same thing, as the Sia titan looks like Temperantia, and may have lost its original name after the war / its death. But I am almost certain that Temperantia was the left over husk of the Judicium Empire's Titan, not Coeia, and (I am trusting my faulty memory here) I think even the game said it was a dead titan left over after the aegis war, but I would have to replay chapter 5 to verify that. Beside there is already precedent for dead titans not sinking with the Cliffs of Morytha, or it wouldn't even be there at the level it is at, and instead be far lower like the Torna titan seen later. The titan to the right of the world tree doesn't quite look like Uraya, also its placement doesn't work for the main game to have a titan between itself and Mor Ardain to act as a demilitarize zone. (Unless the dead titan drifted.) So that is why my guess was it Estham as there is nothing else available with the known knowledge we have.
personally I think its temperantia just below the world tree as what we can see of it looks like the front of a stingray idk what that other titan is though
I don't really see how that could be Temeprantia personally, as i don't think it looks much like it... Honestly, i think Temperantia was left off of Hugo's map entirely, as Judicium was long gone, so Hugo might not have felt the need to put it on his map, even if it did become a battleground during the Aegis war.
No because that titan was very small and too small to have a civilization on it and thus not significant enough to be put on Hugo's map. It was probably just there for plot purposes since right when we see it sink Rex and Azurda are talking about how there are less and less titans everyday.
Guys you know what monolithsoft should do? As for the one near Mor Ardain, it appears to be a serpent-like creature being depicted, possibly something like a Squood, although it also looks spiky. As for the one in-between Indol & Spessia, it COULD be the titan that Dagas mentions during his blade quest in the main game of XC2. (Saw this rumor from a different comment.)
Nah, i don't think so. My guess is that the titan directly south of the world tree on Hugo's map is the Cliffs of Morytha, or at least, the nation and/or the titan that would become it.
It could be Leftheria, but a younger Leftheria that hasn't grown fully, (or at least to the extent that we see it in the main game of XC2) or that is simply more hidden by the cloud sea, but more likely, it's just a depiction of 1 or 2 giant squoods swimming in the cloud sea...
I mean, maybe?!?? There's no way for us to know, but considering that the titan directly below the world tree is likely the Cliffs of Moytha, or the nation and/or titan that would become it, so with Estham being the avian-draconian-esque titan, this would be impossible.

This would explain how Addam's brother fled to Genbu, who was right nearby Torna, and also explain how Lora and Addam's Militia fled to Spessia in such short time.
The unamed Titan directly north of Torna looks pretty similar to Uraya in my opinion
Ambassador Of Mercy same
How?!?? It looks nothing like Uraya, and the only titan that it slightly resembles is Torna, due to them both looking draconian.
Would Mor Ardain have been a little bit greener 500 years prior to seeing the wastes in the main game?
Sam M. I think so actually. During that side quest with the cooking contest, Addam introduces Hugo with “from the plains of Mor Ardain”
So it was probably not super green, but we know it wasn’t a desert.
I'd love to see how the city of teddim could function
Yep, it definitely would have. Probably not SUUUPER green, but definitely a lot more green than as seen in the main game...
But just IMAGINE Mor Ardain in it's prime though, being like, almost COMPLETELY green! That would be pretty crazy, although, due to the volcanoes on it's back, and some of it's other features, i doubt the titan was ever actually THAAAT green, but definitely at least a decent bit, and maybe a lot in certain spots, such as the Chansagh Wastes...?
@@lemmyxpro It would be really cool to see, for sure!
I think anyone that cares abouts maps did the same
I noticed something interesting: Genbu is called "Luxuria" in the map (Tantal's name in the Japanese version).
1:30 What the- They're language only uses 3 different letters?!
im honestly amazed youre still able to make 20 minute videos on this game lol
What if Esthem was the titan we saw die at the beginning of Xenoblade Chronicles 2? It did look similar to this titan a bit
Sad to know that we won't see more of this world in the next Xenoblade.
You didn't even mention regideria from Dagas' blade quest

No but seriously xenoblades dlc is amazing truly worth the price
I'd love to see a video about regideria
(And then of course, the titan itself is named Genbu, which i'm going to assume was already known by the Tantalese, by this time.)
Although, there is one problem with this explanation.
The little ships, what if they're not trade ships but maybe ardainian troop ships kinda like a map of territory
Definitely not... Ardainian ships are shaped much differently.
Did you mean, “Hugo’s map of ZA WARUDO”!?
Actually luxin I think that the one near gormott is estham and the other one is spessia since you can see the environment from the titans and the one near coeia looks like it has forests and a big tree on its back and spessia is seen with big forests so that one is spessia and the other one is estham
No, this can't be right. (Judging by the route the party takes during the ending.)
Also, the avian, draconian-looking titan directly north of Torna on the map doesn't look like it has forests and a big tree on it, to me.
What about the titan that dies at the beginning of chapter one?
It's never named, and we never learn anything about it... it was a pretty small titan though, seemingly not THAT much bigger than Gramps. (But still quite a decent bit bigger, i think.)
I could see the thing on the far right being the back of the Urayan titan. Maybe 500 years ago it spent most of it's time submerged like Genbu.
That spiky squood tentacle-looking thing? Now that i think about it, it kinda DOES look like it has a tail... interesting! (I still doubt this though, even considering that it IS at least somewhat close to Torna.)
Great video, I don't know why your not more popular

Nice ideas! I think he should do a titan ranking video
Or it's because of 500 years of mixed breeding with the people of Tantal that caused them to lose there Blue eyes out side of higher ranking family's
@@4wheal possible I already thought about that but again. Thought it would be a good video
The last titan, to the East of the World Tree has actually shown up in official art before the game released, and I presume it's just unused art they decided to put to use somewhere. You can see it on the second and third wallpapers on this page, dated May 4th 2017. There is a possibilty you're right about what titan it is though.
gameranx.com/updates/id/102412/article/xenoblade-chronicles-2-wallpapers-in-ultra-hd-4k/
This looks like an early version of the box art. Considering the box art now features Uraya, I think it's quite likely that both are Uraya.
みょんすき田みょんすき太郎 same, it looks quite similar to uraya to me
That titan is an early version of Uraya.
@@kdavis2686Nice suggestions! Although, i definitely think that Torna was fire, and Indol would be light.
But I don't have a map of the world
Then you are not Hugo
I think the last titan mentioned is the one we see sink into the cloud sea at the beginning of the main game.
No because that titan was very small and too small to have a civilization on it and thus not significant enough to be put on Hugo's map. It was probably just there for plot purposes since right when we see it sink Rex and Azurda are talking about how there are less and less titans everyday.
I would think the Titan just under the World Tree is the one that becomes the Cliffs of Morytha considering how close it is to the World Tree.
I agree. Btw, Cliffs of Morytha reads “Morusu no Dangai”, and I believe “O” is made of two separate letters combined.
On second thought, no, there’s multiple of that unreadable text.
@@hraesvi_killter2463Huh?

Guys you know what monolithsoft should do? Its a crazy idea and will probably never happen, but here goes
They should release 3 more dlc packs; each one will add another nation sized explorable titan to the game. It won't have a main quest, but you will find unique NPCs and side quests on the new titans. The new titans are as follows:
Speccia
Coiea
Estem
And maybe even some more that have never been mentioned
Yes, I know they've already released huge dlc but I honestly think this could be a really cool idea. Tell me what you guys think!
I would've loved this, but sadly this is never going to happen. Even at the time of your comment, this was simply just INCREDIBLY wishful thinking.
What about that labeled titan to the south-east of mor ardain? That looks pretty interesting. Also the one south-west of indol and north of specia
Although its probably wrong I think that the things directly to the east of indol are the leftheria archipelago
It could be a more premature version, but i kinda doubt it, even still. ESPECIALLY because it just looks like squood tentacles.
I guess the map makers didn't know/care about the Cliffs of Morytha
Nah, i don't think so. My guess is that the titan directly south of the world tree on Hugo's map is the Cliffs of Morytha, or at least, the nation and/or the titan that would become it.
i think the little titan ships are the other trade guild ships
genbu would have been much easier to inhabit because they weren't extracting ether.
Is this some sort of educational video?
What about the one on top of the world tree that looks like a serpent? It has the same texts as the smaller titans so im guessing its also a titan.
Im note sure they would bother placing cloud sea king in the map. I feel like thats probably uraia , idk
That is definitely not Uraya, as it clearly looks like a squood.
this is awesome (commenting for yt algorithm)
What if Estam is the Cliffs of Morytha.
I mean, maybe?!?? There's no way for us to know, but considering that the titan directly below the world tree is likely the Cliffs of Moytha, or the nation and/or titan that would become it, so with Estham being the avian-draconian-esque titan, this would be impossible.
