Garrett Horn and there was that one cutscenes that showed the tornan Titan completely obliterate 3 Titans (which I’m gonna assume are the titans named after courage, faith and prudence) with one blast in ancient times so it could also represent tornas wrath in history.
I think there's a lot of symbolism here if you want to look for it. Torna was extremely wrathful and abused its position as the most powerful titan by annihilating its competition until the 1st king of modern Torna voluntarily sealed its power and created a peaceful country. No good deed goes unpunished, and Malos (malice) came to undo that good deed. Wrath also hadn't been eliminated from the country, though, as his brother clearly wanted to use Torna's power to subjugate others, and had the Aegis war never occurred, it's plausible that the rules and norms of succession would have eventually made Zettar the king instead of Addam. Frankly I wouldn't put it past Zettar to have the king assassinated and then have Addam killed or exiled.
Tantal could of been made after Lust via their resources. As in Indol Lusts for more core chips. Similar to how Gormott is named after Gluttony from other Countries' Gluttony Also it could be named after Lusting for power. IE wanting royalty
The Latin word “Luxuria”, while translated into English as “Lust”, is more about the seeking and indulging in thrills, pleasures and excess in general, not specifically desire (which under the Latin understanding is treated more as a part of Avarice), and while it includes sexual excesses is not limited to them. As such some sins we’d attribute to Gluttony/Gula in English, such as drug addiction, would be associated with Luxuria/Lust in Latin, while some things we would associate with Lust/Luxuria in English, such as lust for power, would be seen as a Avaricia/Greed for power under the Latin interpretation of the scheme. Likewise the Latin Invidia/Sloth also includes other sins of omission/failures to step up and do what is right including where that failure is because of despair, lack of hope, or lack of faith. So the despair of the refugees or the failure of the members of the Church to speak up against the corruption of their leadership could also be reasons for Indol to be the titan of Invidia/Sloth.
I mean "Wrath" doesn't fit torna at leat the one we know. But from the history you could deduce that the Tornan Titan was the most aggressive one. It is also stated that the Titan was obliterating other nations in Alrest. SO I think Wrath is quite fitting a name.
Mor Ardain being pride even fits with its music. Both its field and city music (at least the daytime themes) give off a feeling of them being the best things around.
Fun fact: originally there where 8 cardinal sins, but they were reduced to 7 during the middle ages. One theory is because seven is considered a holy number but personally i think it has to do with the nature of the 8th sin: Despond. Since the known 7 cardinal sins are forgivable according to the bible, but the 8th, despond might be considered blasphemy and thus unforgivable. For anyone interested i highly suggest you look it up. And as any other sin, it is also a desire. The desire to feel desponded; vainglory. As sometimes, "it feels good to feel bad" being desponded itself comes close to "hopelessness" and "nihilism" but is quite broad so those two don't sum up the entire definition of despond.
From what I recall, both vainglory and despair were removed due to being too similar, and in despair's case come off as victim blaming. Vainglory could both refer to unnecessary boasting of one's abilities, and futility, which would render it some kind of weird hybrid of pride and sloth, and despair used to be believed what happens when you reject God. Better understanding of depression happened, people really weren't too big on telling sad people that they were blasphemers, and despair just seemed too close to sloth, so it just merged with it later on.
Argentum is a more meaning full name actually. according to tradition Judas Iscariot sold out Jesus for 20 pieces of of argentum (translated as silver coins) this reflects Bana trying to hand Pyra/Mythra to torna for cash.
I know this is a year old, but IMO Bana's greed goes even further. Yes, the Blade Bot factory is on Mor Ardain, not Argentum, but he pretty much sold the entire world out for money by building those things for Torna. We also know that, even without Torna, he was planning on a war profiteering scheme when Mor Ardain and Uraya came to blows - withholding the Blade Bots from Senator Roderick to demand more money of him being part of it.
I’m just gonna make an assumption that the titans named after faith prudence and courage were the titans in that one cutscene in TTGC that was obliterated by the Tornan Titan.
5:37 Tantal doen't make sense? They lusted the title of decendant's of Addam without having a claim to the line and isolated their own people and changed the very nature of the titan making the same people lust after the thought of living somewhere else. Come on Luxin your better than this! Anyway nice video.
As a Catholic myself, this was quite an interesting video! It really captured my attention. I also just like norse religious myths and the like in general. So, (As it says in the description) I wouldn't mind more religious stuff at all! Oh yeah, keep it COMING!!
I’ve watched another video, by another Xenoblade RUclipsr named KayJulers that explains Temperantia being named after Temperance with the reason that because Temperantia is so barren and lifeless it illustrates the feeling of fasting. Here’s the link to his video (by the way you too should really do a collab video at some point): ruclips.net/video/NF6b2ivyv8M/видео.html
Funny, I'm writing a paper right now about the 7 deadly sins, and I'm using both Xenoblade 1 and X. I would do all three, but my professor would not like the idea of having three games from the same franchise.
It's weird how games have crossover concepts all the time. KH has 7 charecters named after the 7 deadly sins, using Latin, which is how I knew which sin was which nation just from the name because you gave the Japanese names first. Also, XB3 and the trails series have an ourobouros. They use it differently, but also similarly. I guess it's because games use real world ideaologies for inspiration.
I like how you do some analyzing of places and characters. Your Reyn video was great, so I would love to see you do a video for other characters like Shula, Dunban, Rex, among others.
It's easier to understand Temperantia's virtue when you consider the counterpart set, where temperance counteracts gluttony. Unlike Gormott, a wealth of resources everyone wants, Temperantia is a wasteland with it's only human civilization long gone. The creatures on Temperantia need to practice the titan's virtue and moderate their resources to survive thanks to the harsh conditions
TO THOSE WHO WANT TO REPLAY XENOBLADE 2, BUT WANT A DIFFERENTish EXPERIENCE: Rules > start a new game plus (duh) >bringer of chaos mode >you can only use MAIN STORY BLADES, but you can keep everything on them >always have your drivers leveled down at least 7 below >no consumable items can be used throughout the play-through >Drivers have to use 1 LESS item slot then they have ( if a character has 3 slots, you can only use 2) I made up this ruleset when i was bored, and it turned to be a pretty fun way to experience the game again. If you’re finding the boss fights too easy, even after leveling down, level down more, but the beneath 7 level rule never really betrayed me. One last thing, LAST JIN FIGHT IS GONNA SUCK IF YOU’RE DOING THIS
By 7 below, I mean 7 levels below every enemy, or boss. Also this is a last minute type rule, but, no grinding, unless something gets super hard. The point of these rules is to make you think and strategize, so if you’re just grinding a bunch of small enemies before you even fight the boss, you will gain nothing from this ruleset
@@fel_7264 Maybe if I have some time I'd like to try that. The game was relatively easy and I didn't strategize much throughout my 2 playthroughs. This might force me to strategize and plan ahead.
Well for gormott there's a difference between gourmand which is someone who eat too much, and gourmet which is someone who like high quality meals but eat rationally. I'm French btw
It was made before Torna was released. This is updated for Torna content and to be in the style of his more recent videos mentioning non-Blade Xeno games.
All those names are spanish! Envidia, gula, avaricia... Im from Spain and im quite shocked looking at this, because the European names comes from the american translation so they are Uraya, Gormott, Mor ardain etc. But why spanish? Spain had a very strong influence of catholic religion "insert here the spanish inquisition meme " but still have no sense. Latin would be fit better, or even italian. How weird it is o-o
Let's be real, Gramps is 100% a sin.
So, judging by the naming pattern...
Azurda is latin for old perv?
Maybe for Torna being wrath it could be that the Torna Titan goes on a rampage without it's glowy thing
Garrett Horn and there was that one cutscenes that showed the tornan Titan completely obliterate 3 Titans (which I’m gonna assume are the titans named after courage, faith and prudence) with one blast in ancient times so it could also represent tornas wrath in history.
Torna had a history of being used for wrathful purposes, though by the time of the game it wasn't so much.

I like the idea that Judicium (justice) on Temperantia (temperance) became the nation of Indol (indolence) showing the corruption of their principals.

6:20 Maybe it gets that name from the fact that the Tornan titan was rathful when it use to attack the other titans with its either laser beams?
It's exactly that, Torna use to be a very Wrathful titan.
Regideria, that one continent from Dagas's sidequest, is another titan that was failed to be mentioned.

Ahh so that’s why in DQ11 it is also the World Tree which is Yggdrasil in the game...INTERESTING
Also the ship where u travel In Xenogears is called Yggdrasil.
Everything is connected lol
As a french, I can say you have a very good french accent 😂👌
I Speak spanish and basically the Latin names are how we called normally to the sin in Spanish
That is because Spanish, as well as other languages like italian and portuguese, derive from latin
uraya in japanese is named after the sin of raytracing

Once I finish Ni no Kuni I plan on restarting torna and replaying XC2, I’ve missed those games
Temperantia is better for wrath because of a military conflict there and having temper in the title

Luiz Enger 100% correct. hope you try it out if you can!
Who is to say one of the sinking titans in the beginning of the game isn't one of the virtues?
Very educational I love it
I think you're right and the translators (or whoever did that) fucked up those couple of names.
Being a spanish speaker its kinda weird hearing all the japanese names

Luxuria doesn't just mean lust. It also means waste(-fulness).

Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Well, Pyra is bae.
I am extremely disappointed in how literal this video ended up being.
"Gramps is not a Sin." Your shitposting video on why Rex goes on his quest points to that being false. Lust.
however, Gramps WAS against Rex taking the salvaging job, and what do you know, Rex kinda died for a bit because of it
Haven’t seen the vid yet but I hope #1 is unneccessary sext that cheapens and detracts from any and almost all seriousness of the story 🤔
Lust lust lust lust lust lust lust
#1 Dhalia
