Great review man, probably the most in depth I have seen on it so far, I appreciate it.

Hello! Nice review. I will buy this helmet straight from japan and I'm from the philippines. I can't physically fit this helmet since there's no store selling the Astro GX. I measured 59.5-60cm and ordered a Large. How's the fitting of the helmet? Is it good?
I really want Arai (Astro GX) to be my 1st premium helmet even though I only own a 150cc scooter (Honda PCX). I want to be more safe while riding.

Hi, the fit varies depending on head shape but I have a very average one. I think Arai made this helmet a more neutral shape so should fit most people, it fits me very well and it super comfortable. Hope all goes good for you!

Just bought the black gloss Astro GX for $150 (new/open box) and it’s definitely comfortable and snug. I used my Strada 2 for a few years, tried AGV’s K6 and love them but Arai makes a convincingly comfortable lid 👌

how do feel about the pro shade now? Im thinking about getting some aftermarket photochromic visor my arai but I do like the versatility of the pro shade and I like my visor with the most clarity I could get.

It's okay, it can cause some buffeting depending on your bikes windscreen setup in certain positions and if it gets dirty from a previous ride in rain etc you may have to clean it unlike internal visors, but on the plus side it doesn't fog up. Ultimately a photochromic visor is nicer but I don't know if the aftermarket ones are correctly safety tested so don't trust them.

Hi have you tried using a Shoei x14? How does this helmet compare to that? Thanks

Sadly I have not so can't compare, but I imagine the X14 is a good helmet but it's a race helmet rather than a touring one this one is advertised to be.
