If Grumman put this on RUclips, this is old technology.
something around 2006 I would say
007's Old Toys 😂
We know it's old. Just look at how many times we've seen video clips of this thing going in and out of the water and everybody saying it's a UFO.
buoyancy based travel for open water drones was in Popular Science in the early 90's. "at this scale" is the qualifier here.
They create a high technology, and keep the helix without protection where it can kill or injure some wale or other marine animals?
Totally not made with cocaine smugling in mind
Command got to have their cocaine.
My nasal cavities numb already! and feeling full of energy!
perfect for visiting the Titanic.
I was thinking the exact same thing !
Totally ! of course not, stealth interocean crossing, undetected and smuggling drugs, nah :D Pablo Escobar just ordered 300 of them to play with in their pool
I especially like the underwater shots where you dont see sh!t
Lots of impressive sounding words/phrases all strung together, without giving even one example of what this thing might *actually* be used for O_o
northrop-grumman put this out for putin&xi to think about. you don't need to worry
I think we know what it's going to be used for
@@edmundblackaddercoc8522 i have a cunning plan!
so you lack an imagination or don't pay attention to ongoing conflicts using a preponderous of drones, both air and sea.
Exactly! They don't want to spoil the fun stuff to pleb like you! 😂😂
China will show you their version - "StingRay" in a few years time 😂😂😂
Except it will have a crew of 3, a smoke stack, and a 10km range with calm seas during the day.
they already copied it but refuse to show it to the public
Next week it arrives, looking exactly the same!
We may have best technologies so far and aliens still laugh at us humans. Their far advanced technology is nothing compare like ours unless if aliens existed.
It will be lithium powered and will only cost less than $100 buck :D
This is clearly a cover story invention for something much more sophisticated that looks similar
If it can fly and move like UFOs can then I'd say we found the culprit.
@TheGhost2612000 You should look into the history of area 51 and the things the govt did to fool Russian surveillance satellites. If we had a "ufo" that could fly out of the ocean just like many of our navy pilots have reported, then chances are our enemies have several pics of it on the surface of the water but little to no pics of it traveling through the sky at 1000kts or better. The part that makes me think this isn't what it's portrayed to be is the fact that we have some amazing underwater propulsion technology that's completely silent or near silent to sonar. Why would they take such a stealthy shape and just stuff two standard brass propellers on the tips of its wings? Isn't this supposed to be a stealthy surveillance sub drone thingy? I'm probably wrong about it being a cover story for something that can also fly but I'm probably correct about those brass props being cover for an internal propulsion system
Yeah, water gliders. That's the ticket!
It's an advert for something the military won't buy.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣@@DurkMcGerk
This reminds me of the Flying Sub from the 1960's TV series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea!
That was far cooler
That was my first thought as well.
When it was 1986 and we did not have the flying sub, my inner child cried a small tear.
Was going to say the same thing
I can hear the theme song!
There is no way that that craft has those huge bronze propellers.
Was thinking the same thing, I think they are just there for the video, to see who copies it based off the video, while it has internal drive like a caterpillar system or something.
you can see at 0:13 that these have already been replaced
Or, you can see at 0:10 that there might be an option to fold the blades back. Tho folded back looks like 0:13 and the normal mode like what you see at 0:10. Folded back is probably the mode where they just glide and use them to regain some energy.
Since Corporate espionage is a thing, and as much as certain countries like to copy us, what best way to set THEM up for failure, then to show them a screwed up design we'll be able to track 😎
Looks similar to that mini sub on the 1960s sci-fi show, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
or a gadget for James Bond

Like to see it disentangle fishing clutter from those exposed props......
Under rated comment

And, what was the usecase again? Going from Colombia to Flordia and Back autonoomonoeomouse?
Indoobietably.
Plausible Deniability.
Just like Oliver North did, using George Monkey Morales as the driver..Ran a ton of guns to the Contras, but then got greedy with the cocaine.
колумбийские и мексиканские деловые круги будут очень довольны мантой
The Russian sub docked in Cuba is not a fan- though, I am sure the crew of the sub is glad they are not in Crimea area.
дорогая игрушка
Russians are quite fond of new tech they can display as trophies. And this toy will be a nice addition to it.
Unfortunately my local hobby shop didn’t have any more of these in stock!
Okay that one doesn't have a crew, but the design looks like it could be scaled up to fit people. One with a bunch of windows would be really cool.
Can it be charted to go see the Titanic?
Keeping up with the Aliens 😂
Wait, we are already making Metal Gears?
This is Snake Pliskin here
First of its kind ?
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
And theirs could fly. LoL 😂
Always were
Omg Metal Gear is my husband's favorite games of all time. From Nintendo to playstation. He has them all.
They only show us the old tech. Just imagine what's actually being used.
What a great video, so glad I made time for it, thanks!
This is a damn game changer right here. Very cool
Wow, what an interesting vehicle!
Love this. So it's mainly for research?
Awesome! When will the first commercial one arrive? Imagine traveling around the world in a luxury one of those.
Awesome.
Dear Santa....
You mean sanna
If we know about it... It's at least 30 year old tech.
Really, then that explains ppl thinking they see aliens 😂 still really cool . But 30 years blaa guess it's not catching on huh. Bummer looks fun.
@@dp-kz5cs I guess you never heard of Moore's Law?
Okay bro. 😂
@@dp-kz5csit was about 10 to 15 years with the B2 and the F-117A stealth planes
@@PappyNet01Moore’s law is an observation not a rule. It also only applies to computer chips.
Nice weapon.
If it wasn't made for war, I would highly rate this machine. Unfortunately, search and rescue operations aren't very profitable industries.
Think about the possibilities for shark week or exploring the trenches.
Amazing 😍
Looks great, but could've used the new style props for extra performance and reduced cavitation. That screw design is FOSS FFS.
That is also probably the first functional model built using the original design plans from a decade ago lol
🤩Awesome need more pls. It is yes.
*"Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" had a flying sub similar to this called the "Sea View".* 😄
Those wings look superfluous.
Reminds me of the mini flying sub from the old TV series Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea
so the manta ray style attack sub from sea quest is viable! interesting.
Wow!!
That’s a cool looking thunder bird
Cool toy!
Digitally designed? I wonder what prompts they used.
Introducing NG's newest weapons platform...
That is so cool !!! So? Soon we can travel so fast ! Wow !! 👍
Many misunderstand how this glider actually propels itself.
Over long range, it dives and emerges diagonally, that's why it's called "glider". It's efficient and silent. There is a catch though, as it limits its use in shallow waters.
I love how i'm watching this like a commercial as if i'm ever going to buy one.
In other robot-warrior news, I hear the Japanese “Autonomous Tuna Torpedo” rules the South China Sea, and that the Argentine “Anti Personnel Penguin” is wreaking havoc on invasion forces in Patagonia.
The props on the outside? might be better mid mounted under wings.
An extremely innovative design. Keep up the good work.
That DO-160 qualification campaign must've been nerve racking. Nice work Northrop team.
Whatever happened to the Seaview ?
Let's take it down to the Titantic and see if it implodes.
The weaponized versions of these UUV's would surely be a nightmare for Destroyers and Submarines
Looks like the one from the USS Seaview...😮
Hmmmmm love this Manta Ray! @northropgrummanmedia can I get a job or royalties if next development are Mola Mola???
Reminds me of the flying sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
sure
To the Kerch bridge Foward !!!
I want one!
Super cool design and idea. Why are we letting our adversaries and enemies know what we have so they can just steal the concept and design?
Because it's probably 30 years old. By the time we find out about these things, they've already been in service for decades.
@@Cantthinkofahandle117 Its not really 30 years old. Its brand new. However, it is not advanced enough to be kept secret. Much of the technology will have been described in (international) journals. The sensitive projects are kept classified, such as the stealth Black Hawk helicopter used to kill Bin Laden. And the B-21 is not classified, because in order to be a deterrence to our adversaries, our adversaries have to know about its existence. The RQ-180 spy drone for instance is officially classified, but plane spotters have been able to take pictures of it during test flights.
Maybe Stockton Rush and Ocean Gate should have consulted with you guys.
So… what kind of sonar profile does it have?
Ping
Actually amazing tech, useful in many ways. Imagine the oceans flood with these or even larger ones. I'm sure they've already started on building them.
People have to order them first, which is why this ad exists.
It is really a film-prop for the new Aquaman movie!
Introducing the “Alibi” in partnership with Battelle, in order to fund a similar looking reverse-engineered USO.
We gonna need this to fight the underwater UFOs.
We (the guberment) owns the underwater UFOs
to make it harder to detect and a smaller target, shouldn't they make it... less wide?
The only thing "mastering" the "Deep" was that Octopus! 🤣
Man Ray
Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy’s arch nemesis.
That aqua glider has a huge prop.
Should've fashioned the propeller as stealthy ones .
Hey its the nautilus off the "Mysterious Island"!
Finalmente reinventaram o Subvoador.
This is for sure not just for defense against earth,y foreign enemies but for all the underwater UAPs for a lack of a better term.
If it's a glider, what powers that propeller?
@TheBackyardScientist narrated?
Wah bagus sekali
Whoa...
It's going to be the pulic answer to the genuine alien water vehicles that have been seen by the USA air force.
With that width it won't go deep. Couple of hundred meters at best. For depth and rigidity you need to be thin like an Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola). Looks cool but it's not as well conceived as it should be.
oh so this is what the tic tac was hovering over lol ahahahahahahah
Is the vertical fin a good idea?
It needs some sort of antennae above the waterline.
Who will be responsible for any collision at sea with sailboats ect... ?
ita a war machine just another war machine
Humans always have and always will wage war against each other. It’s better to be on the winning side.
Looks like the ufo that did the splash down into the ocean , can this thing fly too ??
then add torpido and missile
Reverse engineered from?
How is it better than a traditional cylinder-shaped sub?
how do they communicate if Radio waves do not penetrate water unless you use ultra sound waves... As in 70's unless they overcame with new Tech????? per Sonar Tech SSN652 crew member...
Oh how the cartels would love these.
One of your first deep sea vehicles to be designed digitally? What have you been doing the past 40 years?
Is it a torpedo boat or a nuclear delivery platform?
yes
It's basically a UAV weapons platform small enough to be mistaken as a biologic (animal) by sonar.
Another military machine great all we need,
If it had reshaping abilities like an octopus sonar would have a hard time finding it.
can it charge it's batteries with tidal flow generators while in sleep mode?
If the props used alternators rather than motors you could just anchor one in a location with a high current and let the current passing through the props charge the batteries.
Underwater (kamikaze) drones, will they change naval warfare?
As you rise and sink you can glide just like gliders do in aviation.
Another addition to drone warfare.
next project the SeaQuest DSV 😁
