Ok, the problem with this video is that it's filled with incorrect information. First, choking down on the club will hit the ball less distance. That's physics, not an opinion. So if you're going to choke down, you have to club-up. Second, the reason you club-up in a bunker is because you can't compress the ball against the ground, which again (physics) will make the ball fly shorter distance. If it were on a tee, and you could get under the ball to hit the sweet spot, that would be different. But it's in the sand, so you have to pick it and that means you hit it low on face and not on the sweet spot. Third, if you take extra club, you're not going to overswing as you say in the video. Who overswings when they club-up? Nobody. Keep it simple. Take one extra club, flatten your swing a little so you can pick it rather than a steep swing that will likely cause you to hit it fat. Any pro will tell you this.
You mentioned physics twice, i find it interesting because you don’t compress the ball against the ground, it compresses against the club face which is why your divot is in front of the ball (if you are any decent ball striker) and the ball is long gone before you hit the ground or the sand in this shot. Also ironically shaft lean is what allows you to hit further up the club face in the sweet spot so it’s important to still swing with a normal angle of attack. If you get too shallow you will have less lean, hit the bottom of the face lose ball speed and increase spin. The reality is that a fairway bunker shot is not really different than a normal shot. Some of the best ball striking practice you can do is out of a fairway bunker because it forces you to control your low point.
I too disagree with almost everything in this video. One important thing omitted is the fact that if you make your normal swing in the sand, your right foot will come out from under you on the downswing and you will hit it fat. So your lower body has to be quieter - another reason to club up
I just watched another video on this topic. That one said to dig down much deeper, choke down an amount equal to the depth you dug in, and move the ball back rather than forward. Buyer beware.
Hi Yogi, we don't have them orgainized on our RUclips channel but they are organized on the website. Here is the link if you want to check it out: topspeedgolf.com. Play well ~ Quentin | TSG Instructor
"...like im in a fairway bunker..." You are in a fairway bunker and that's the name of the video and that's why I tuned in to find out how to hit out...
Great except for one thing, you are showing a 5% probability lie in the bunker, you hardly ever get such a perfect lie in a fairway bunker, post something when your fairway bunker lie is slightly less that perfect (i.e. between rake lines or in powdery bunkers).

Going to have to agree 💯 with what you just said because it’s facts. Club up, choke up, and swing shallower…that’s it

i am so jealous
Uhhh, the sand didn't even move! How is that even possible?

Grant Vegan that’s not a bunker! It’s a beach
Hi Grant, thanks for the feedback. That's a great idea for a video. We'll keep that in mind for future videos. Play well ~ Quentin | TSG Instructor

Hi, he usually does. He may have forgot it for this video. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Doesn't actually teach you how to hit it out of a fairway bunker but ok....
I stopped when he started talking quadrants. Lol that’s way too much swing thoughts for me
