Ive decided to pull my 6 year old out of first grade and homeschool her myself. I also have a 2.5 year old and currently 28weeks pregnant. I love watching you be able to handle everything and it gives me reassurance that its all possible. All of her material arrives this weekend and im gonna be spending the next few weeks getting her lesson plans together in a binder for the year that way when baby gets here it will be fool proof for me. Ive printed out my state education standards and going to build my lesson plans based on those core goals to achieve. ❤ im so excited for our new journey. She is ahead in reading/english but slightly behind in math so im happy to give her the one on one time she needs versus a 35:1 ratio where she wouldnt get enough help.
This is my dream life when I have my own kids, omg such a cleaner environment than school. No pressure of the teachers yelling, no johnathan throwing a ball at crying sally. You really get your kids to develop on themselves versus having distractions of other kids slowing them down. I know for sure, homeschool kids will develop at a faster pace. I love how your daughter gets all the attention while your teacher her versus 1 teacher teacher 30 kids at once. Ugh these kids will contribute more into society
Love the way you are so calm and slow. Thank God I watched this video. I feel so happy and not guilty. Some videos make me feels so bad of my responsibility.
I am homeschooling my 1st grader also. She struggled with reading a few months ago and we did the same thing. Went back and reviewed for a few weeks then all of a sudden she took off and is reading with ease. Plus she enjoys reading because I didn't push her. 🙂 letting a child work at their own pace is such a blessing.
I just had to remind myself of this recently because I was trying to follow some planner thing when she slowly started falling behind, I started getting stressed out when I realized... hello?!? I homeschool, I made the rules LOL. She's so ahead of where she needs to be so idk what came over me lol. I learned that taking breaks and reviewing is very helpful for my daughter to gain confidence again after doing more tough activities.
We were using TGATB level K for my first grader as well. We got through almost the entire book, but she still needed more reinforcement. I decided to do Christian Light Education Learning to Read. Hoping to get back to TGATB after this! We also love the Dash Books & her new handwriting curriculum!
It was like this for the K language arts for us. We had to go back to practicing blending through games and practicing letter sounds again. We just started it back up again and will eventually finish it sometime in the 1st grade year. I feel it’s a grade above what they say.
I love that you did this! I may have to show some like this with my kiddos. What a great idea. I love that you showed how it’s not all rainbows and butterflies 🤪. Great job mama!
I am using TGTB with my 1st grader too. Math 1 is great, we skip part of the daily dose too haha! Also, with the LA we were doing Level 1 and it went okay for about a month before i realized it was waaayyyy too advanced for my daughter. So now I am just doing a lot of read alouds and fun worksheets from TPT. Since doing this my first grader has become a much stronger reader, writer, and just more confident. I'm glad we took a break, we will go back to TGTB LA but not yet.
I love homeschool with me videos! I got TGTB math levels 2 and 3 when they had their big sale on them last month. They come next week and I am so excited to start it with with my second grader ❤️ Thanks for sharing Maddie’s day!
This was so cool to watch. I bought the dash into learning during the black Friday sale too. Loving it. That sight words swat game seems great. Gonna look into that. Thanks for sharing.
We hit a random snag too in level k and have taken a break the past couple weeks, doing explode the code, sightword swat and just building confidence reading. Starting back up again now that we’re more confident with it.
Thank you for sharing! We have hit that wall much sooner. I did TGATB pre -K with my 5 year old (they recommend it for age 4) and honestly, I thought new letters were introduced way too fast. I started supplementing with explode the code and now it is going much better.
That’s how I’m doing with Stella too! She totally hit a snag! She’s having such a hard time silent e making the vowel long. So we’re skipping the course book for now and reading tons of the beginner books! I might get these books your talking about
Love that flexibility! ❤️ We did this with my oldest and did a lot of mastery and reinforcement using Explode the Code and Bob books. It made a huge difference.
Our 100th day of school will be next Tuesday and we are only on lesson #33 in TGATB Language Arts for my 1st grader. I literally take most lessons and break them up to where they are only 15-20 minute lessons. A single lesson may take my 1st grader the entire week to complete but I am totally ok with that because I want her grounded in what she is learning. We take breaks too for review and games. We still enjoy TGATB but we are making it fit for her. I just found out that her learning style is 50% kinesthetic 30% visual and 20% audible. We're making adjustments to fit her need for learning ☺ its all a part of the journey, right? 😄
Love your videos! How long do you think you spend homeschooling Maddie? I'll have a first grader this fall so I'm trying to gauge how long I should be doing school with him. Thanks so much!
I spend about an hour total sitting down with her for language arts & math 😊 Her morning work of handwriting, spelling, & Explode the Code takes about 20 minutes, and then she sits in for the family units which are probably another hour or so. So 2.5 hours total for her day!
What are the older kids doing while you work with her? Just trying to get an idea how other moms do this lol. My 2 year old needs constant watching and my 4 year old wants snacks constantly and for me to watch him flip bottles. Or those two are just fighting 😂
My other 2 work independently on language arts (whatever they don't need my help on!) and math (teaching textbooks). My toddler is usually getting into everything or running off with pens and curriculum and we try to get as much done as the baby naps! 😅
Can you please tell me how to make a schedule for home schooling. I want to switch her from public school and start home schooling her. Can you please give me an idea how long should we be studying grade 1 materials for in a day? How many hours?
I want to home school my 6 year old first grader. He looks so miserable coming home from school every day. He seems like he is always left out from what he tells me. Im really considering this :)
My son started school in 2019 but it was hard for him because they already wanted him to know how to read but he was just barely learning his letters and numbers im struggling with teaching him to read
My daughter struggled with reading, too! What helped us was just really focusing on reading together, making sure letter sounds are mastered first and foremost, and BOB books help tremendously!
I am using the good and the beautiful language arts book and Oh my goodness my son runs from it 😩 he is also first grade. Have you tried anything different with your daughter? We are stuck on the different sounds of the vowels, and sounding them out 😖 Love your videos!
We were doing so well with the LA up until now! 😔 Which book are you using with him? Mine loved the Pre-K and Primer, but has hit a brick wall in the middle of K! My oldest two do really well with their LA, but I have heard of people having similar issues with Level K!
@@OneBlessedMess language arts and literature level one of the good and the beautiful. We are still on unit one of it. It's just starting to get confusing for him 🥺
@@nicolemaldonado5625 I bought Level 1 with the intention of using it with my first grader but she just cannot get through K! I have to keep reminding myself that the levels are usually above grade level! Maybe your son would benefit from taking a step back for a bit to go back over the concepts he's stuck on, too! 💜
Hi!! We usually start around 9 in the morning, go until 11/11:30, take a long lunch & play break, then come back together around 1 until 2 for our family unit/read aloud!

Today was my first day and feel like I pushed way to hard I'm scared to go slow
Best thing about homeschool - meeting the kids where they are. LOVE that you took a break from TGTB LA just to go back to review.
Yes!!! The flexibility is major!

I love this! First time homeschooling my 1st grader. Thanks for everything. Love the details. 🌻🌼

I plan to start this fall with my soon to be first grader. Thank you so much for this!

Yes!!! That's exactly what happened to us, but she emerged stronger than ever after a little break! It sounds like you're on the right track! 🤍
Loved seeing your day sweet friend!
Loved this video! She looks so much like you ❤️ I’m glad that things are going better for her
Those worksheets look so fun! I think NJ also uses teacher pay teachers.
I LOVE TpT for supplemental worksheets! You can find almost anything you need on there!
My daughter would absolutely love that fly swat game! We use TGTB for LA & she loves the fly game that's included in some of the lessons!

Yes! Once we slowed down, it got SO much better! Now she's flying through it!
I am looking forward to that in depth science video coming out soon as we plan to use that same program next year. My kids picked it themselves.
You always give me new ideas and ways to do homeschooling :)
Thank you so much! 💜💜
So glad you're enjoying The Wild Robot, we did too. Great day mama 😊

You're welcome! 🥰
Mady is so precious! I love her spunk 😆
Oh! And we are about halfway through The Wild Robot right now! 😁
Love how you included your goofiness at the end
I am also using TGTB Level K with my daughter and I'm waiting for the point when we hit a wall. SO many people mention this! We're only on lesson 10.

Can you send me that link! For TPT for those warmup pages 🥰💗
How are you liking the Masterbooks science? I’m looking at it for my daughter for next year. I want to make sure it’s a good fit for a 5th grader
I am REALLY liking it so far! I love how it is set up and so open-and-go!
Hi I’m new in homeschooling kindly give me tips on the materials… where I shd order
The Swat game looks so fun!

Explode the code really works for us. We also use fast phonics on reading eggs to mix things up.

I'll keep that in mind next time, Julie!
Ummmm and this game
Please don't put the music....video is very good....you and kids are more than enough to keep viewers engaged!
