This song was Folk Rock but Saltatio Mortis is a Folk Metal band. The new songs on their new album are so awesome🤘🔥🤘
I have been a big fan of Faun since about 2006, have most of their CD's. Faun is not Metal but considered Pagan Folk.
Many of their older songs are very ritual oriented, sort of like the "Gospel of Paganism"😂😂😂
Great reaction👍
🥰🥰🥰🇨🇦
Thank you for the clarification. I definitely need to check out some stuff by Faun. Thank you as always for your support
@@MattsMoshPit1 Check out "Federkeid" (Plumage) by Faun.
Since you like this, I think you would also like a similar band Deloraine from Czeck Republic. Try "Ragnarok" MV
Awesome, thank you I will check them out.
Faun ist a Folk-Metal Band from Munich, founded in 1999 by Oliver Pade (the guy with the "coolest facial hair" 😁). I didn't hear many songs by them so far, but what I listened to it's very good. 👍
I can't wait for the new Saltatio Mortis album, too.
Suggestion for you: The only 12 year old "Harper" with her song "I Hope You Choke". She is definitely the future of Heavy Metal.
Awesome, looks like I need to add Faun and Harper to my list. Thank you my friend as always.
Again a Great Reaction ! Well done

The stuff Saltatio and other bands like them like Feuerschwanz are Folk Metal or sometimes refered to as Medieval Metal. Power Metal goes in a total different direction. Blind Guardian, Helloween or Gamma Ray is pure Power Metal for example.
Faun on the other hand does Neo Pagan/ Folk music, they rarely use electronic instruments and use instruments from the past like a Mandola, Backpipes, Flutes or the Hurdy Gurdy.
For Faun some songs:
* Walpurgisnacht (the Walpurgisnacht is a pre christian holyday among Wicca and Heathens it's on the 30th of April)
* Federkleid (skirt of feathers also the plumage of birds is sometimes called Federkleid in German)
* And of cause the masterpiece Faun feat Eluveitie - Gwydion
Thank you my friend for breaking it down for me. So far I love it all. I am excited, I get to see Blind Guardian tomorrow night. I can’t wait!!
nice reaction, but if you listen to the lyrics, its about death, loss and in the end, suici.....not to jolly, but fits the more dark past of the Band´s repertoire BTW Schwarzer Strand means Black Beach
Thank you for the insight. I need to check out the lyrics. I love the music. Thank you for sharing my friend
Faun is a german pagan folk group currently consisting of 6 members.
The two female singers and Oliver Pade (vocals and string instrument) and the hurdy-gurdy player can be seen in the video.
If you are interested in their music I suggest "Gwydion" together with the band Eluveitie or "Odin" (feat. Einar Selvik / WARDRUNA & Martin Seeberg) and FAUN feat. Lindy-Fay Hella (of Wardruna) - "Galdra" (Official Video).
By the way, the angel in the video had to go into the cold Baltic Sea while filming in March.
As an Iron Maiden fan, do you know the band METAKLAPA? If not, I have another suggestion for you.
You made my day with Metaklapa. You said Maiden and I had to immediately check them out. I only checked out one song, but they are Amazing! I will definitely add them to my list of songs to react to. Also thank you for the Faun suggestions, I have added them as well. Finally, I hope the Angel was paid well for the job. Thank you for sharing my friend.
@@MattsMoshPit1I've wanted to suggest Metaklapa for a long time, but I always forgot about it. I would like to give you some preliminary information for better understanding.
It`s a croatian a cappella metal band that exclusively performs songs by Iron Maiden.
The name is a combination of their two preferences, "Metal" and "Klapa". These are dalmatian vocal folk music groups that perform polyphonic singing on special occasions. The focus of this choral music is melody and harmony; rhythm plays a subordinate role. This centuries old singing style is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I can recommend my favorite songs:
METAKLAPA - Hallowed be Thy Name (Official Session Video) ruclips.net/video/Nv0XGE0GruA/видео.htmlsi=gxZONWsA6Mw6zoRU (my favorite)
METAKLAPA - Fear of the Dark (Official Video) ruclips.net/video/l6XjBdgka9c/видео.htmlsi=LwdF3dS0zkTBZ9d2
I hope you haven't listened to any of these songs.
I am glad you remembered this time. It’s really cool stuff. If it helps I watched the wasted years video. Hallowed is my fav Maiden song, so I figured I would save that for a reaction.
@@MattsMoshPit1 Great, without spoiling anything, I think Hallowed is fantastic.
I can’t wait to check it out
Not a fan of Faun, but their sound works well with Saltatio. Great bagpipes here. The lyrics are sad, but I like that. I use different subgenres and categories as a vague way of organising artists in my head, as in "oh you like Saltatio Mortis, check out Korpiklaani", but I think it's impossible to pin down one exact definition for most bands. Even more classic genres are combinations of other things and combining different elements in music is kind of how the musical evolution happens. So I leave it at folk metal, even if it might not be entirely precise 😅 I have a mediaevist friend who is also a lot into cosplay and LARP and has been on my nerves to listen to Saltatio for like six years, so I'll ask him if I'm in the mood for a long explanation 😂
lol, I don’t have any LARPers in my arsenal of friends. We have a renaissance fair in my area in September and I am pretty much the only one who wants to go each year. I have no desire to LARP, I am just fascinated by people that do. I feel like I would love the Folk Metal fests in Europe. On a side note I am excited that tomorrow night is the Blind Guardian show. I can’t wait to finally see them after all this time (since the birth of this channel). It’s going to be fun!
@@MattsMoshPit1 Please tell us everything about the Blind Guardian concert!
If all goes well, I will be vlogging from the show. Next week will be the same for Kamelot, Ad Infinitum and Seven Spires. All should be fun.
The pronunciation was good. You still have to practice on your "savage" sound ;-) Savage doesn't mean shouting, but more directness. For example, Germans ideally want there to be a plan at the end of a business meeting. Just an exchange of opinions is not enough. This creates more confrontation, but the Germans accept and expect it. They are still Germanic people chasing Romans through the forest ;-) And it makes them more efficient because all mistakes are addressed.
The women and the guy with the three-piece beard are Faun, plus there are other instrumentalists. The guy is also the founder and mastermind of the band.
Faun's style is called Pagan Folk, this was more like Folk Rock. You can also find these bands at certain metal festivals, like Wacken. Saltatio Mortis also makes purely acoustic music and therefore appears at Middle Ages/Fantasy festivals, where bands like Faun are typical. Both scenes overlap and both bands have known each other for a long time:
FAUN - Federkleid (Offizielles Video)
PATTY GURDY feat. FAUN - "LURING" (Official Music Video)
In terms of content, the black beach is the symbolic border between life and death. The name black beach has no historical reference. The song reflects the feelings and the questions that arise.
Thank you for your pronunciation confirmation. I will work on my Savagery: ) my wife is also of German descent and your take on German meetings is how she is in meetings. She didn’t need 23 and me to tell her she was German : ). I definitely want to check out more from Faun. More importantly, I am really excited for the new Saltatio Mortis album. I will be getting it when it comes out. Thank you as always my friend for your support
