Welding does come in handy quite a lot, and if you can get your hands on a co2/mig welder you'll see that it's pretty easy once you've got the machine set up, and with a bit of practice. Yes, we're looking forward to it!

I think we are almost there with phase 1 (mechanic's) of the refurb, finding parts particularly for the rear wheel rebuild was challenging... Paul's torsion system will be next, hope to start early next year, thanks again for the recommendation. Would like to contact GRS re a frame, could you send me a name? I've actually worked with their PE division. March to May is a great time for surf lessons this neck of the woods, hope to meet soon!

Hey, apologies for not getting back on this sooner. Somehow I missed the comment. The exterior cladding is made from "chromadek". It's a galvanized and painted steel sheet that is bent into the profile. Heavier than the norm, but hectically strong.

Hey Tim. Thanks for the feedback. The cladding will be done with Chromadek bent into a special profile. To prevent cold bridging we'll have polyurethane in-between the cladding and the frame. Polyurethane is an excellent insulator. Inside the bent chromadek profile will be expansion foam, and in the cavity of the frame a high density isoboard. Yes, we've noticed many builders from European countries are concerned about this, but hope that our plan will work out. Only time will tell, so please check out for updates. Have a great day man
Hey man. The plan is to add a layer of polyurethane in-between the cladding and the frame. Not only is polyurethane an adhesive, but it's also one of the best insulators available. The idea is to minimise contact between the outside cladding and the frame (breaking the link for temperature to spread from the cladding to the frame) Then add a layer of high density isoboard in the cavity of the frame, and finally doing the same on the interior cladding. We'll have to wait and see if it works. Nice truck by the way!
Hey apologies for not getting back to you sooner. We've just entered back into South Africa from Lesotho - had absolutely no signal. Going really well off road, the chassis has full flex and the box moves together with the mid-mountings. Even did the "Sani Pass" and the old girl didn't even break a sweat.

Hey Graham. Some build their homes on stilts, and others on rocks - there was just a different thought pattern, and each decision has reasons behind it. Absolutely nothing wrong with composite panels in my mind, but there were aspects of the build that we wanted to add - for this we needed stronger mounting points, cavities, etc. You're welcome to go through the whole build process as I'm sure I mention why I did - what we did Anyway, thank you for the comment - have a great one and be safe on the roads!

We used a lot of self tapping pozi drive screws. Bolts would be a good solution too. Have a great one

First thought - far too labour intensive. 8 composite panels. Bosh, sorted. Extremely strong, lightweight and no thermal bridging issues 🤷♂️
