One of the cleanest functional and minimalist but yet the greatest mod on the internet by far with less fuss and flash completely built out of purpose and plan ❤❤❤. What are the dimensions of the box in terms of length and width in feet or meters?
hello and thanks for commenting. The inside of my cabin is 4x2 meters, the hight 2m. The overall length of the vehicle is 6.5m which is a reasonable size for an expedition veicle. I am still able to curise the streets of inner cities and even park in regular size parking lots. My previous vehicle was a MAN 9t vehicle with a 7.5 x 2.4 dimension which made it quite difficult to cruise in narrow streets of Norway and Sweden up to the North Cap. So I think you are very well off with a smaller, more efficient vehicle if you plan to explore more narrow paths. Good luck and safe travels, cheers Simon
❤a humble request , please do make more travel videos with this truck. Can you please tell about the dimensions particularly Lenght Width and height because, pic you share in this video is not for truck .overall dimensions.
In my country Ecuador is not possible to get a 4x4 truck fuso 611 but 4x2 is possible. I'd like to build a camper similar to yours. Can you send me the floor plan please? and all measurements
hello, thanks for commenting. I do not have the floorplan of my truck since it was built by Woelcke in Southern Germany according to my specifications. But maybe you can ask them to send you the actual floorplan: www.woelcke.de/expeditionsmobile/woelcke-autark-explorer-e3-auf-fuso-canter.html
Hi and thanks for watching. It can sleep 2 people in the mastered and an other when you fold the table away and connect the two seats. So 3 people in total. Best Simon
Hi Desi Overlander, thanks for watching. The featured vehicle costs around 300K € and was built by Woelcke Expedition vehicles in Heimsheim Germany, check out their webpage. Safe travels, cheers Simon
Great video! I loved the stop action shots with you removing the cushions and showing the electrical system and also when you shot the floor heater. Well done.
Hi Simon, incredible vehicle. Congratulations. One question.. I see it is a new Fuso model requiring Adblue. Is this an issue when traveling remotely to less developed regions like Africa ?
Hello Diego, thanks for watching, I have never traveled in Africa, but my friends travelling with the same vehicle and build are currently traveling South America and they temporarily converted their engine to work without Adblue. So there are always solutions to travel wherever you want to go. Safe travels and thanks for watching Simon
I really like this build, but for the price am baffled why the solar electronics are such a mediocre grade. Only 400 watts of panels and very cheesy invertors etc. I would expect at least 1200watts min, in panels and ALL ancillary components to be top end Victron. I am presently building a roamer that will cost a fraction of what is invested here, but am sparing no expense on my off grid power system and am also installing a (must have) re-circulating shower.
Thanks for commenting. Never heard about the re-circulating shower system, but will definitely look into that. And yes, there are more sophisticated and more expensive power systems. I personally never had to connect my truck to a power outlet for the past 2 years, so I feel no need for upgrading my system. Safe travels to you, best Simon
Hello Juan, the total price of this build is in the range of 300K €, including the transfer and customs to Switzerland. If you buy and drive it in Germany you can deduct aprox. 30-45K Thanks and safe travels Simon
Love these trucks, not a fan of the build out. I really like the fold out sink, thats smarts. Other than that though, its just a standard build, not spatially idealized, which is what I am always seeking. Plus got to quadruple the size of your water supply, WAY too small.
thanks for watching and commenting. Maybe you are right, every build is very personal, I used to drive a much bigger Man truck with an even more individualised build. It did not work for me, hence I decided to drive a smaller truck with just the bare necessities, including the 200l water tank, works perfectly for me = less weight and always fresh water. Safe travels to you, best Simon
Hi, your side doors, did you source the handle and locking mechanism, or was it part of the door when you built it? I have been looking for these handles and a multipoint locking mechanism but can't find anyone who sells them separately
Hi Terry, I chose those multy-point locking doors when I ordered the truck from the manufacturer in Germany. I think it is a complete system, including the lock within the door. It locks on the top and on the bottom of the vehicle. Maybe its best to check out the exact details with the builder: Woelcke in Heimsheim Germany, if you have problem reaching them, give me holler and I thry to figure it out. Good luck, best Simon
Very nice and useful vehicle. Have you had mechanical problems with it? What are your monthly costs with it? Like average, how much does it cost a person to live and drive in this vehicle. Thank you
Thanks for watching and commenting, Robert. Without amortisation of the cost of the vehicle (300K€) the average cost to live and travel in my expedition vehicle is about 2-3000€ per month, depending on the countries you travel. in more expensive countries like Switzerland, Germany and France it obviously costs about 30% more than outside of the EU. Best Simon
Oh , it’s very nice camper, couldn’t you tell us if it’s available to buy as we saw or you made it by order, please? I love it,, 👌it’s as I wish. God bless you and your car .
thank you. Yes you can order it and ship it to your country, wherever that is. Check out their webpage in Germany: www.woelcke.de/index.html Greetings Simon
Hello: I would like to know what is the total passenger weight of the car, and can 4x4 drive be used on dry roads? does it have a half step? Thank you and good luck.
Hello, and thanks for watching. The total weight is 7.5 tons and the vehicle sits 3 people. And yes, I do have 5 gears and a low gear setting with 5 gears as well. Safe travels to you, cheers Simon
Thanks for sharing! I like the narration, and I love the appearance and ambience of or similarities of a military truck and a cabin inside beautiful ships, It also resembles beautiful areas partitions of an airplane or small yachts!
Thanks Napoleon Gardening and Adventure TV.. I also like the color a lot, very different from all the white/beige vans in the streets. And yes, a bit like a military truck - which might also be a bit of a problem travelling in political unstable countries like South America... safe travels to you and thanks for subscribing Simon
I watch a lot of youtube, and I must say this is one of the most beautiful builds I've seen. Could you share a rough price estimate? Great video btw :)
Hi Martin Leslie, thanks for watching. The company building those beautiful expedition vehicles is WOELCKE EXPEDITION VEHICLES in Heimsheim, Germany. You will find them easily on the internet. Best regards Simon
This is by far one of the best Campers I have seen on the internet. Functional and with all the ameneties for a comfortable and extended off-grid life. The 4x4 Mitsubishi Fuso it is built on is an excellent platform with global aftersales support. This is far better than all those impractical huge Trucks some folks like building campers on. Also with superb headroom without the need of the ubiquitous pop up roof!
Hi Tom, yes you summarised it just perfectly. I had a much bigger MAN truck before which was not really very practical, specially on the narrow roads of Norway. Hence I decided to get rid of it and buy a practical travel vehicle. Thanks for watching and commenting and safe travels to you. cheers Simon
Wonderful....I'd like to buy back an adventure van once sons will be grown up (we owned one years ago) and sell our home to live on the road with wife and our dogs
perfect decision, Luka, I also had to wait until my sons were out of the house. I personally think it's worth the time and doing your research to buy or build the vehicle you want, without any compromise. But since you already have lot of experience with a similar vehicle, you will do just fine. - And yes, the dog is still missing i my travel life. Best Simon
thanks for watching and commenting Karl. The expedition vehicle was built by Woelcke In Heimsheim, Germany and the price is about 300K € for this build, Best Simon
@simonjourneyman thx, yep been an awesome vehicle for camping during 3 to 6 day race weekends/weeks. Could probably make it to 10+ but would definitely run out of water. I'm seeing more and more PHEV plug in hybrid type vehicles with 8 plus kwh on tap followed by an alternator to charge from gas. It's the closest I'll get to a Sprinter with the slow idle function installed 😁
Hi Joy, my vehicle was built by Woelcke in Germany. www.woelcke.de check out their website for all the models they build. The price range for my vehicle was in the low 300K €. Good luck with your build and safe travels Simon
thanks for watching, I used to drive a MAN with automatic transmission and chose a manual transmission for better off-road control. But I think it depends very much on what trains you prefer for your travels. All the best Simon
Hi Mark, yes, you can easily walk from the living area to the driver cabin. I will do my next video on the driver cabin of my vehicle and also show how I get fro one place to the other. In my last expedition vehicle, a 13ton MAN truck, the passage between the driver cabin and the living area was really just a crawl space. So I am very happy with what I have now. Thanks for watching ad safe travels Simon
I'm not sure that in depth detail about oil checks and tyre changes in the first two minutes of the video is the most compelling way to to structure a narrative
you might be right, but the tilt-driver cabin setup of the Fuso is a rather unusual solution to get to the engine for a mid.-sized truck - and most viewers did not complain. best Simon
Well specified vehicle! Well executed build out! Excellent video! May I ask several questions: What other base vehicles did you initially consider and why did you choose this one? Diesel tank size?😢 What is the weight as equipped, wet (water and diesel and propane all full) - and what is the maximum permissible weight? In practical road driving, what kind of milage do you average so far? Diesel heater (water and heat) or propane? That engine choice (+ad blue) probably is motivated by local emission rules (and then makes a lot of sense) Can this engine be operated in areas where only much less clean and much higher sulfur content diesel is available? What could it all run on - if need be? You separate drinking water from general water and have the drinking water in containers that seem easy to clean and if need be to replace (makes sense to me). But then I got confused about the filtration. You are not really sending both through the same filters and pipes/hoses - or? Could you please explain?
Hi Ralf, thanks for commenting and watching my video. I used to drive a larger MAN truck from KERKAM in Hamburg, Germany. It was simply too big and clumsy and I often got stuck in from of bridges that did not carry the weight of 13 tons, or tunnels that were not hight enough to pass. So I decided to sell that vehicle and buy a more compact 7.5 ton truck. - And I am very happy that I chose a Mitsubishi Fuso from WOELCKE in Heimseim Germany. So far I drove 15'000 km in the past 9 months, with a average of 14 - 17liter Diesel / 100km. And yes, this is an AdBlue vehicle, Euro6 emission class and I was very lucky to be able to import it from Germany to Switzerland, since the rules for vehicles from the EU are very strict in our country. When you drive in The Central or South Americas, you can adjust the engine to the worse quality diesel without AdBlue by implementing a chip. - But I have not tried that so far. Yes, I do have a diesel heater and I am very happy with it, almost no consumption, but with the floor heating and radiators always nice and warm, even during very cold temperatures. Drinking water: yes, exactly, I use the tree 30l tanks for the drinking water and the tanks can easily be cleaned when I fill up the tanks. And no, the water is not running trough the same tubes, it is filtered by two separate UV filters without getting mixed. I hope I was able to answer your questions. Safe travels, thanks for subscribing and greetings Simon
@@simonjourneyman Is the truck modified to get 7,5ton max weight? I can only find specs for 4x4 fuso with max 6,5ton. (In Norway). I really would like to find a 7,5t 4x4 fuso - and have peace of mind regarding the weight😊…And I have to say that you have made a excellent video, of a wonderful, well thought out -and incredibly well built expedition truck! Woelcke is definitely a company I’m going to contact! Have you considered a Cinderella incineration toilet? It’s something that I consider to install in my next motor home. Best regards Patric
Hello@@patlunde, thanks for commenting and liking my video - all very good questions that I try to answer: The max weight of that vehicle is 7.5t, at least in Switzerland, don't know if its different in other countries, or if my builder had to change the chassis from 6.5 to 7.5 tons? And yes, after having traveled with a heavier MAN truck, the Fuso feels more like an upgraded Mercedes Sprinter, very nice handling, only the engine could be equipped with a bit more power (which some of my fellow Fuso friends upgraded with a tuning-kit) And yes, if fact I am playing with the idea of installing a Cinderella toilet, one of the best toilet systems I think. My compost toilet is ok, but I generally don't like the idea of driving around and collecting the human remains for weeks on end. Happy travels, best regards Simon
Hello Ralf, thanks for watching and commenting. I try to answer all your questions: I was travelling with a lager MAN truck before buying a Fuso. It was simply too big and bulky, specially on narrow streets in Norway, of passing small villages in France. So to me the Fuso seemed like a perfect solution and I am very happy with it. The diesel tank contains 200l. But you can easily install a second, separate diesel tank. The total weight of this build with full tanks is close to 6 tons. The max weight 6.5 tons. but you can upgrade it to 7.5t max. I average about 20-25K km/year and the water and floor- and radiator heater is powered by diesel. Yes, the ad-blue engine is the only street legal diesel engine permitted in Switzerland. Friends of mine currently travelling in South America with the exact same vehicle had to manipulate the engine in order to be able to consume low-grad diesel. According to their experiences this should not be a major problem. An yes, the separate drinking water containers are the perfect solution to be sure that the water you are consuming is fresh and the containers always clean. And no, I am not sending the regular water and drinking water through the same pipes. Safe travels, best Simon
Really nice video and build. I like how the box is fitted to the chassis. This makes a lot of sense. It would be great to see more of the structure of the build and the process of the build. Was it a pre-built box that you fitted, or was it a box that you had built specifically for purpose?
Hi Dion, thanks for watching and commenting. The chassis is provided by Fuso, but altered from the engineers from WOELCKE, Germany. The box was built according to my specification, within the possible limits of that truck. Unfortunately I have no shots of the actual built in the early stages. (whiting I would have them..) Maybe a contact to WOELCKE HEIMSHEIM GERMANY could resolve that. Safer travels to you, best Simon
Nice practical design. What the reason behind choosing Mitsubishi and not another like IVECO ? Is it the the initial and maintenance cost? Is that a factor for your choice?
Hi Albaghli TV, thanks for reaching out. I know a lot of commercial drivers who are using Iveco trucks on a daily bases and a lot of them are not very happy with that Italian manufacturer. Seating position, quality of accessories are only a few of the things they don't like. I myself have never driven an Iveco truck, they seem to be reliable, but in the end I preferred Mitsubishi over Iveco. Best regard Simon
@@simonjourneyman thanks for your reply, I’m traveling around the globe on motorcycle, after crossing 40 countries, now I would like to shift to Campervan , so I’m doing research and watching RUclips to see which one more reliable and easy to maintain and easy to get spare.
Hi, you can see that in the video: in the back it as fully mounted to the frame of the vehicle and in the front it rests on rubber blocks allowing the cabin to move freely with the movement of the chassis. Thanks and safe travels Simon
A beautiful build and great video! Cheers! I dont want to be rude, but how much did the entire build with the truck cost you, something like this is a dream of mine. Edit :- i checked, its in lower 300k euros from your other comment. With house price rising evrywhere i think so this is bloddy brilliant! And i guess you save a tonne too. 1. How much do you spend on average on petrol? And whats the mileage in km do you get? 2. Also sorry if i have missed but whts the total length of the vehicle in metres? Agains goes without aaying brilliant build and love the layout! Absolutely fantastic great work!
You're not being rude at all, the price range of this build is in the low 300K€, but for me personally worth every penny :-) I have met travellers in similar vehicles they built themselves and it cost the half of what I paid. So there's always a solution if you really do the research. Happy build and travels, cheers Simon

I’m very jealous of your beautiful house on wheels but having said that I bought an old former British army Bedford RL 4 by 4 and I built the sides solid and a flat 5 ft roof. On the inside is a 5 by 6ft bed and also a small sofa bed with heating and cooking I bought a small stove that provides me with heat when I need it along with cooking, now granted it’s not great to look at but it’s very cozy and dry, I also installed a 5 ton winch at the front for towing which happens to other snobs anyhoo back to your home. Had I the finances to get a custom built one it would be very similar to your one because your home is beautiful. 🙏👍
Hi Nelson, thanks for watching and commenting on my truck. Seems like you did a great job, building your expedition vehicle and I am truly jealous that you can do that. Wow beautiful sharing my friend... watching from Malaysia 👍😎
Thank you Wilson, Malaysia is on my bucket list as well..

Now.......the million dollar question.......CUANTO CUESTA!!???
Hola! The price is in the 300K € range, depending on what details you want to add to the build. Safe travels, Simon
See i've always said i would rather take a custom Fuso, Isuzu NPS, Iveco Daily or Unimog than shell out for like 750k-1M+ for an EarthRoamer...
... that was exactly my argument as well, thanks for watching and your great comment, best Simon

Great video! I loved the stop action shots with you removing the cushions and showing the electrical system and also when you shot the floor heater. Well done.

Where is this manufactured at? Beautiful
Journeyman…Great looking vehicle. Awesome design! Can you give me the name of the builder of your vehicle??
Hi Chris, this is from a builder in Germany, they produce high end expedition vehicles: enjoy!
www.woelcke.de
Tks for the overview. If possible - would you please outline the pricing of your truck and major components?
How much money to buy this campertruck Mr.Journeyman...???

Was this originally a dually truck? every model for sale has a dually configuration
yes, it was a dual model that has been configurated by the manufacturer in Germany, much better for off road use.
what a beautifull work! congratulacions from Perú
gracias and see you in Peru - hopefully :)
Best Simon

@@simonjourneyman thank you and enjoy your travels
Could you share details on the guys who did the conversion in stutgart ?

Wonderful....I'd like to buy back an adventure van once sons will be grown up (we owned one years ago) and sell our home to live on the road with wife and our dogs
perfect decision, Luka, I also had to wait until my sons were out of the house. I personally think it's worth the time and doing your research to buy or build the vehicle you want, without any compromise. But since you already have lot of experience with a similar vehicle, you will do just fine. - And yes, the dog is still missing i my travel life. Best Simon

Would love this for my kids' motocross racing. Ironically, our current vehicle is a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2018.
perfect vehicle as well, congrats and enjoy!
Similar to the "EarthRoamers" from Bend Oregon.

Great information 👍👍 Why not automatic transmission for easier driving?
thanks for watching, I used to drive a MAN with automatic transmission and chose a manual transmission for better off-road control. But I think it depends very much on what trains you prefer for your travels. All the best Simon
Are you able to walk through from the cab to the living area or is it a crawl through?
Hi Mark, yes, you can easily walk from the living area to the driver cabin. I will do my next video on the driver cabin of my vehicle and also show how I get fro one place to the other. In my last expedition vehicle, a 13ton MAN truck, the passage between the driver cabin and the living area was really just a crawl space. So I am very happy with what I have now. Thanks for watching ad safe travels Simon
Very Apple 🍻
I'm not sure that in depth detail about oil checks and tyre changes in the first two minutes of the video is the most compelling way to to structure a narrative
you might be right, but the tilt-driver cabin setup of the Fuso is a rather unusual solution to get to the engine for a mid.-sized truck - and most viewers did not complain. best Simon
hermoso vehiculo, para grandes viajes .............. felicitaciones !!

Well specified vehicle!
Well executed build out!
Excellent video!
May I ask several questions:
What other base vehicles did you initially consider and why did you choose this one?
Diesel tank size?😢
What is the weight as equipped, wet (water and diesel and propane all full) - and what is the maximum permissible weight?
Hi Ralf,
thanks for commenting and watching my video.
Safe travels, thanks for subscribing and greetings Simon
.. the weight is 6.5 tons with empty tanks, the max weight 7.5 tons. The gas tank is 200 l and the water tank 25o l.
Best regards
Patric
Hello@@patlunde, thanks for commenting and liking my video - all very good questions that I try to answer: The max weight of that vehicle is 7.5t, at least in Switzerland, don't know if its different in other countries, or if my builder had to change the chassis from 6.5 to 7.5 tons? And yes, after having traveled with a heavier MAN truck, the Fuso feels more like an upgraded Mercedes Sprinter, very nice handling, only the engine could be equipped with a bit more power (which some of my fellow Fuso friends upgraded with a tuning-kit)
And yes, if fact I am playing with the idea of installing a Cinderella toilet, one of the best toilet systems I think. My compost toilet is ok, but I generally don't like the idea of driving around and collecting the human remains for weeks on end. Happy travels, best regards Simon
Hello Ralf, thanks for watching and commenting. I try to answer all your questions:
I was travelling with a lager MAN truck before buying a Fuso.
Amazing! I'm afraid to ask the cost.
thanks for commenting. The build you are looking at is in the low 300K €, not cheap, but I am very happy with it. Safe travels cheers Simon

That's a good-looking, well thought out vehicle.
Is the gearbox manual shift or the Duonic?
Hi Barry, thanks for enjoying my video. Its actually a manual gear shift - with a function for lower speeds when climbing a hill.
