    • @wayne-bo9yh
      @wayne-bo9yh 5 месяцев назад +1

      A few people use the skins for different things. My grandparents used to sell the skins back in the 40’s to the 60’s from the 80’s they were only paying very little for them & from the early 90’s the skin buyers didn’t want them anymore that’s here in Tasmania. So now it’s only craft people who are using them it’s a shame because they are a good skin if dried out well 👍🏼 I eat a lot of wallabies really nice meat very little fat most of the year nice & tender 👌🏻

    • @wayne-bo9yh
      @wayne-bo9yh 5 месяцев назад +2

      @wearefarmersusafor food 🤷🏻‍♂️to eat it’s beautiful meat no chemicals in it free range! Our farm dogs get a good supply of meat. Plus there’s millions around they eat more grass than cattle & after you pay your $30 for a wallaby permit you can hunt them all year round. We got another 58 on Tuesday night & took 49 home to use. Don’t knock it until you try some You have no idea on what you’re missing 👍🏼

    It's nice to see Matt and Nicole topping wallabies as a change from vervets, baboons and dassies! We have wallabies, pigs, possums, mustelids and other invasives introduced by an asinine Acclimatisation Society from 19th C until the 1920s. It's a pity you can't drop the wallabies off to your farm workers as they'd equal dassies for eatability!

      Yeah I have to admit the damage we might have done in the past is painful - both to native animals and the people that actually lived there before we rocked up and decided to make things 'better'. We as in English/British. Meanwhile - Ring Necked Parakeets are now seen everyday in north Newcastle, Red Squirrels in England are just about holding on.

      @@Simon_Nonymous It is an unfortunate consequence of our "not knowing at the time" that has riddled the planet with misplaced creatures of all types, back then it was probably inconceivable that such things could have such a devastating effect, and even more recently with the so called "animal rights" crowd setting free mink from farms, what a disaster that was! Parakeets are now on the pest list, so hopefully can be kept to controllable numbers, but I fear it is irreversible for the poor old Red squirrel, especially in England, even though there have been several success stories dotted around. Don't even get me started on the domestic cat? :(

    U harvest any feral felines? I’m in SE US and trapped over 300 cats in less than 5 years on postage stamp property in town.
    Caught 2-3 a day the first month then dwindles to 2-3 a week now 2-3 every few months. Most did make it to a local rescue…but even there every one was so feral they were put down.
    Squirrels now have bushy tails and first chipmunk I saw in 7 years followed my car down the street…not a joke.
    Turns out a group on FB had been releasing them in my poor neighborhood from their posh neighborhood.
