Can You Beat Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Without An Oz Kit? (in text form)
There are 2 ways to go at this challenge. You can be an expletive and choose Claptrap because he doesn’t need air, meaning he doesn’t need an Oz Kit, or you can pick a human who does. I chose Handsome Jack because… why not. I spent a little while looking at skill trees for each of the characters, and I saw that Jack has a skill for Health Regeneration, and that’s when I stopped my search and chose him.
The beginning of the game is nothing of note because there’s air to breath. I awoke to a Claptrap giving me orders and leading me to my first instance of combat. Some people might like the guns that get more accurate the more you shoot, but I don’t which is ironic, I guess, since they’re Hyperion guns and I’m playing as Jack.
After[bonk]ing a few more Lost Legion Soldiers, I met Handsome Jack, saved his life, and finally got a gun that I don’t hate. He gave me a shield, explained the plan, I examined my rear,[bonk]ed the turrets, and began making my, uh, our, way to the evacuation station. Zarpedon looked creepy as [bonk], and Question Mark guy is powerful enough to stop bullets but can’t get through a cheap steel door.
We got outside, but not outside outside, because there’s still an atmosphere with air, and fought through the Legion Flight Crew and Soldiers. I leveled up and finally got my action skill, which allowed me to summon digital me’s to bring the total Jack count up to unprecedented levels of Handsome. Two newer and better guns later, I encountered the obligatory first boss with Knuckle in his name. With the impossible number of Jacks on Team Jack, Flameknuckle never stood a chance.
Back inside a building, I cleared an elevator, loaded myself inside a mobile home, and got shot to the [bonk]ing moon. Janey Springs gave me a few seconds to prepare myself to enter the void of space that lacked oxygen. Without an Oz Kit, your health gradually drains down unless you enter an Oxygen bubble or find yourself a little air ground hole to breathe from.
I explained my situation to Janey, which reminded me of my still very [bonk] dog named Janie, and ventured back outside to find myself an Oz Kit. You might be thinking that after so much time in The Pre Sequel, I’d know how the health drainy thing works. Well, I don’t. My assumption is that it drains at a fixed rate based on your total health, because later in the game is drained much faster than, like, 1 hit point per second.
To continue the main quest, I had to pick up a broken Oz Kit and give it to Janey to fix, who then returns it to me, and it automatically equips itself. You can’t beat The Pre-Sequel without ever wearing an Oz Kit, but you sure as [bonk] can rip it off your face, chuck it into the lava, and go out of your way to suffocate as often as possible.
With my Oz Kit now hopelessly lost forever, I started a side mission that had me making inspirational posters for Janey. It’s an easy mission. Just jump on the pad a few times, shoot some stuff, do a slam. Do a slam? Okay, you can’t do a slam without an Oz Kit. Unfortunate, but I’m sure this won’t come back to bite me in the [bonk] later.
I then did another side quest that involved falling into the lava on purpose, finding a few children’s stories,[bonk]ing the Son of Flamey, and returning it all to Janey.

Ironically, the playstyle of this video, severely underleveled and slowly grinding and cheesing your way through encounters that are far over your head, is my preferred playstyle of borderlands games.

@Ricky The straight razor is a cool ass weapon but i think the rolling pin playthrough kinda covered the underpowered melee weapon run. Also i've never seen and really want to see a throwing weapon only playthrough excluding grenades and mitten squad makes runs really entertaining.

Actually yes. Granted I was on console which has far less bugs than PC, but still. Now, the better question is whether or not you can beat the main story without encountering any bullshit leveling thanks to a player of a much higher level being in the area. Fucking hate that feature.

When it comes to the rules of the challenges. I think if there is a way to avoid it completely you should be able to do it.
With something like it auto-equipping the Oz kit then you dropping it should be allowed for the simple fact you don't get any benefit from it at all and have beaten the rest of the game without it.
Yeah, but some things it kinda doesn't work for, like the lara croft axe only thing - that's just a solid 'no'.
But like the occasional 'weapon is absolutely needed here but doesn't affect combat' and whatnot's fine.

Not the only one - but for her to live the moon had to die. Then again, I think that would have been the best if you pay attention to the lore (remember, in BL2 that Jack was the good guy and we are the villains - and the moon was to be destroyed to save the rest, but those dang greedy Vault Hunters foiled the good guys at every turn).

My friends an I were in the Titan facility when we realized our fourth member- who hadn’t been for the ozkit mission and had suffered through most side quests up until then- never had an oz kit. We didn’t know why he kept constantly dying until we noticed. Lots of screeching at each other was involved.

Edit about 1/3 through the video: I forgot how much not having an Oz kit limits your mobility and combat, I'm wondering how this will play out.

I play the game with a fun passive rule that if my character stops being able to breathe so do I.
So every time I do the intro, I get a couple 1 minute sessions of not breathing, longer if I get screwed over by kraggons flinging me about

@@Not_Claptrap I mean we're talking normal mode, right? Cause a Moxxi weapon can solve almost all problems with health. Now on anything other than normal, you hit road bumps
@@venandisicarius32 it's both hard (no action skill) but easy moxxi weapons and dpuh can play the game for you
@@Not_Claptrap for playthrough 1 all you'd need is a dpuh and overlevel and you're fine, no characters need any skills for playthrough 1, TVHM and UVHM would be much harder

New Dawn is definitely doable with a Saw Launcher, that weapon is one of the best in the game. Only problem you run into is the missions with that one highwayman, where you are in the unarmed cage fight, the derby, and the prison

@@Hiro-vi8xp but the cripple mechanics are different for 4, they only stay crippled for like a minute while in new vegas they stay crippled forever until you use a stimpak or sleep

It's actually a nice game. Has some flaws obviously but i can say that playing as nisha has probably been much more fun than playing as gaige.
@@bonogiamboni4830 i love both borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel, put over 1000 hours in both of them, i think tps gets a lot of unnecessary hate. Its a good game, it was a spin off and wasnt supposed to bring major changes, but it still improved many aspects of bl2. One of my favourite game series in general, cant wait for bl3
@@mr.twomilliondollars2557 exactly. I hope they put a few of the new features from tps into bl3, like your character speaking to pthers and having personalized lines, as well as laser weapons and stuff like that.
