My favorite thing about the pre sequel was the roster. Also, how talkative your characters were. The skill trees were great too, and so were the colors. Gameplay was solid and I didn’t mind the oxygen.

Yeah TPS was the first game where we saw the playable Hunter's personalities. We didn't learn much of anything about the Lilith's bunch until 2, and most of what we learned about 2's Hunters was a handful of ECHOlogs in the last half of the game and their Idle dialogues.

That was my main thing as well. "Dungeons" were well designed, whenever I was in a ship or whatever the low-g gameplay was fun, but the larger map between locations was poorly designed and a chore each time. I even liked the vehicles, but only one of them had a race and the course was poorly designed for the vehicle it used. ...Garbage SJW social agendas, bad writing (which happens when you have SJWs working on your game), long, unfocused plot that drags on and accomplishes nothing other than ruining a bunch of established characters... Awkward and often mediocre skills, lots of half assed mechanics, some of the new additions are nice but they're altogether overshadowed by an assortment of flaws, some that aren't even new and should have been fixed a long time ago (wonky vehicle physics and moon buggies don't mix).
Oh, and it's absolutely unfunny. The humor of BL2 is just gone altogether. Again, letting SJWs write pretty much destroys any potential a game can have. People who live inside a delusional ideological funhouse world can't write anything even remotely relatable, and thus they can't write humor.
It's certifiably a stinker. The ONLY thing the game does better than BL2 is the scaling. Which is what killed BL2 for me. BL2 had some frankly garbage problems in the gameplay department too, but it's a rare case of writing and setting saving an otherwise fundamentally flawed game. That simply wasn't there for TPS.

Yeah really. I remember on a number of SupMatto videos and other Borderlands RUclips channels over the years I defended my choice to like and even appreciate John then John becoming Handsome Jack. Mostly because the way I saw it Jack was genuinely one of the most awesome people you could possibly befriend. At least until you went back to Helios and Jack went from being a lovable a-hole like Bruce Campbell as Ashley in Ash VS The Evil Dead TV show to someone you wanted to distance yourself from... right after he signed your morbidly obese paycheck. I see find that The Pre-Sequel perfectly encapsulates the very essence of the Borderlands franchise -- "This is ain't no place where heroes belong!".
I find Claptrap's DLC to be as vital to Tiny Tina's DLC for BL2. Specifically for the character development of both characters. Prior to both DLCs Tiny Tina is genuinely very much like Ava from BL3 -- totally unlikable. After Tiny Tina's DLC you see she is truly is uncontrollably sobbing on the inside as she desperately deals with Roland's untimely death. With Claptrap's DLC you see that he is not a POS robot. You see that he is one of the most unique and lovable robots possibly put in a video game to date. His Robot Heart is made of gold. "He's not scared of being lonely. He's scared of other people's loneliness. You see, his heart extends outward to other people!". Now that is some damn fine writing right there!

You know- the thing people wanted to play a borderlands game for in the first place. While I loved the story I physically couldnt push myself through the game until the DLC charas came out. Takedowns are the biggest waste of time. I can't believe how excited people get for them. The worst thing about Borderlands 3 was how boring the combat was, I definitely don't want to spend my time to go through ANOTHER enemy gauntlet. What BL3 really needed was an incentive to do anything. Enemies were too easy, no point in getting better weapons, the story was a dumpster fire, no reason to play through it, and the character trees are pretty dull, no reason to level up. BL3 was so close to being an awesome game but they traded their fantastic cast and interesting world building for a really watered down coming of age story dominated by stronk women. It is also pretty stupid that the story completely ignores the player character and instead pretend Lilith and the little girl actually contributed.
I'm generally not a fan of the idea that a game isn't good because they don't keep adding more things to do after you've beaten the game. That's a silly motivation to play a game, especially when there's already plenty to challenge yourself with. A game isn't good because it just isn't good.

It is the insanely high drop rate of nearly every Legendary in the game that is the real killer there. With Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and BL2 Legendaries were so amazingly rare that generally you would not give a crap what it was as so long as it was a Legendary of any kind. I loved TPS, it was actually my favourite of the games for a while
The lineup of vault hunters was really fun, Fragtrap alone is probably the most fun thing in any Borderlands game, hands down. I also loved how your characters actually spoke and interacted with people throughout the game, it made it feel more interactive
Then the story and humour of the game were great too. Seeing Jack before his madness, as well as his descent into madness was awesome, and really nicely done. It actually made me sympathetic for him. And I feel like the humour is even more underrated than the game itself
The maps felt empty sometimes, but the zero gravity and Oz kit movement were enough to make me not care about that, plus some of the areas looked really good, and the music in some areas was great
The zero gravity and Oz kit also made the combat the most fun it had ever been up to that point, zipping around, slamming down and floating around was really fun and really mixed up the combat. Cryo as well, was also an awesome addition. Freezing flying enemies to make them fall and melee'ing / exploding frozen enemies for extra damage just added to the combat even more
Then there's Claptastic Voyage. That's probably my favourite Borderlands DLC, or at least in the top 3. It was hilarious, had one of the best boss fights, good quests, great music... but it also had arguably some of the best writing. It's overall a fairly happy DLC, but it's incredibly dark as well. You discover how Claptrap actually feels, his suicidal thoughts, guilt and depression from the way he's treated and what he's done, you realise that he's not just the happy and annoying robot that you thought he was. Then, the whole DLC is topped off with things NOT getting better, Claptrap gets betrayed by Jack and the vault hunters, and your characters are all there laughing at him being killed (except Athena), despite being friends with him through the entire game. Then, as you would know from playing Borderlands 2, things still don't get better for him. He gets enslaved and tortured by Captain Flynt at times, and has to live on a glacier with only Hammerlock for company, who also hates him. It's a really sobering end to the DLC, in the same way that the main story of the game ended with Jack turning evil, becoming Handsome Jack.
Also glitch weapons are the best

My biggest complaints were the random difficulty spikes like the one in the Claptrap DLC and all the short busy work missions used as filler. I did however like the characters and the humor. The Meriff Dubstep was genius.

The pre-sequel will always be my favorites character-wise. I love Timothy Nisha and Aurelia. Aurelia has always been my favorite character and I love Nisha because of her gameplay and that she seems heavily inspired of Nico Robin from One Piece, even having the same voice actor. I also love how you can glide when jumping when your using your oz kit. Ever since using this mechanic the rest of the borderlands seem really weird in that aspect.

I actually like it, I found the combat more dynamic thanks to the low-G and Oz kits (overall a lot of the levels just feel more three-dimensional than a lot of BL2 did). The only thing I didn't like was that there was less variety of enemies than there was in BL2.

Pre-Sequel is great. In some parts it's still the best game in series. The skill trees are very well-designed, new mechanics are unique to the shooters in general (Oz kits, cryo, lasers) and the story greatly complements B2 in amazing space decorations.

I never played any borderlands game till about 2016-2017 on a friend’s PS4. About a year later I bought the Handsome Collection for my Xbox One. Started out playing borderlands 2 but made the rookie mistake of skipping side missions and became overwhelmingly under-leveled. I dropped 2 and went to the Pre-Sequel. Having learned from my mistakes I did every side mission as they became available and it was the first Borderlands game I completed the main story of, afterwards I played the Claptrap DLC and made the same mistake I made in BL2, resulting in getting stuck at the final boss. Took me a while but I eventually came back to the game and finished the DLC after going back and doing all the side missions for it. I personally love the game, both the story and mechanics are great. I played as Wilhelm which I thought was so cool to see him slowly get more robotic since when you kill him in BL2 he’s basically a massive loader bot. Definitely the most underrated of the franchise

    I loooved pre-sequel.
I'm a mark for double jumps in any game. Especially considering in the previous entries, I spent so much time scaling walls and cliffs purely for exploration and looking for secrets. This just took that to a new level.
My other big love for this game was some of the characters. Idk if it's just by circumstance or what, but in every borderlands, the best legendaries I would find always ended up being revolvers. So playing with Nisha felt right at home and pretty much op with her ability.
Claptrap was great at keeping things fresh in single player. Really incentivizing having a wide array of weaponry.
My two favorite classes of Borderlands are snipers and sirens. I've also always gravitated toward ice element in any medium. So Aurelia felt like she was made just for me.
Strangest thing to hear for me is that the general consensus positives are laser guns and Jack. I don't dislike either one, but neither of them really stood out to me. But to each their own I suppose.

In borderlands 3 The only things I really enjoy are the movement and most of the quality of life changes.
    Everything else just feels worse.
The fact that almost everything was a world drop on release, the lack of raid bosses and the un-fun mayhem mode killed the late game for me. I also hear that the late game is still not fun and that most guns are underpowered.
The guns look "off" in borderlands 3, they look more rounded, too futuristic(compared the the previous games) and very similar to each other, I want to know if other people feel this way about the guns or if I'm just crazy.
The main story's villains are generic and annoying, I know that hitting the same greatness as handsome jack would be almost impossible, but they could of at least tried.
The main story itself feels like it's missing something, beyond good villains, It also just dropped the plot set up by borderlands TPS(Which I was really invested in), and it drags on for way too long. There was multiple times where I was just hoping it would end so that I could stop playing.
    SPOILERS
Borderlands 3's plot just does so many things I hate.
Lilith as a character I hated more and more as the series went on to the point of rejoicing when she "died".
Maya's death felt like it was made just to copy Roland death, and to make the villains more hate-able.
Avia isn't that bad of a character I just hate how she only exists to replace Maya.
Troy almost got interesting as a villain, but it was already way too late in the game.
Tannis gets a little more interesting but then she just kind of stops.
and I could see all the twists from a mile away, they were just so generic.
I've watched a playthrough of DLC 1 and somewhat enjoyed it, because handsome jack is a great character.
I played DLC 2 and mostly enjoyed it's plot.
DLC 3 looks extremely generic and boring and I've heard/seen almost nothing about it.
and DLC 4 looks like claptastic voyage + Krieg so I'm excited about that, but I was really hoping for a sequel to assault on dragon keep DLC.
I plan on playing through borderlands 3 again once dlc 4 drops and/or when they stop updating the game, because I feel like most gameplay problems will or have been be fixed with patches, and if not then I'll just wait for modders to fix it.
The game's plot and gameplay are so close yet so far to being great. I can only hope that the DLC's plot and game patches fix this game up.

The game was heavily over hated and people complaining about the content while mostly valid was also partially not valid. 2 chaos Australia shut down and by the time that happened they were already making borderlands 3 supposedly So if they had already moved on to another game, they're not going to go back and update the game unless it's necessary for the next game like they claimed the final DLC for borderlands 2 was. However it had the best DLC out of all the games, and yes claptastic voyage is better than tiny Tina's assault on Dragon keep, It had two of the best playable vault hunters, It had some of the best gun play in the series, and introduced a plethora of fun side characters and the skill trees felt more free and less meta in the end than borderlands 2.

I'd like to clarify my position on PreSequel. I had a lot of fun with the game. Moonstone was a cool addition, Laser weapons were fantastic, and my weapon of choice, since I was a Wilhelm main, Grinder was frustrating at times, but fantastic balance to the economy. The thing I hated was the Raid Boss was just a repeat of the final boss, it wasn't even more difficult. After 2 put so much effort into their raid bosses, to only have one raid boss that was...just the final boss again, really made me feel unhappy with the overall game, since that is the last thing you experience when you play it

And Glitch weapons were just mad haha. Also the final boss in the Claptastic Voyage DLC - just recently played it on our PS5, on Ultimate VH difficulty, at lvl 70, what an utterly annoying boss haha (still managed to kill it though, but the fight can be pretty challenging, depending what characters you play.
