This reminds me of a hat my dad made mee when I was a teenager, it was so popular he had to make some for my friends as well.! He used a slightly silky yarn in a rust colour (picked up cheaply somewhere I suspect)

If I use DK yarn, should I go up a hook size? Is there are yarn swatch measurement please? I really love the shape of this hat.
You can use any size yarn you would like, and I recommend using the recommended hook size for that yarn. As long as the top circle is the size you need it to be to sit on top of your head then the rest will follow easily. On patterns like this where you are unsure I suggest watching the whole video all the way through without working at the same time to understand how it all works together 💙☮️💙🎶
