I was a Nets fan from the late 80's up till about when they moved to Brooklyn. My two favorite years being a Nets fan were the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons. JKidd was an absolute JOY to watch. Like Magic and Bird before him, JKidd had a complete game, was entertaining as all hell to watch, and made his teamates better. I was happy he finally got the title he deserved in 2011. This video brings back great memories. Thank you.

He was the best fast break dime guy since Magic and his PnR threading the needle is better than anyone else EVER. 3. Larry Bird - His half court passing is brilliant. If he played in today's era they would run the entire offense around his passing and he'd easily average double digit assists. 4.Joker OR Kidd OR LeBron.
good takes, I personally love Kidd even over those cats because of his creativity pass to pass. The ways he manipulated the ball with his spin passes was wild. Plus, how you describe Bird in the half court is how I saw Kidd growing up a PG. Also just loved him as a hub bc he didn’t dribble out the shot clock like most high level PnR guards. He didn’t have to have the ball the whole possession to create good looks. I would basically switch him with Larry and move Nash to 4. Definitely some bias growing up watching Kidd and not Bird, my pops would say Bird as well.

Even though Steve Nash is a 2 time MVP, I would still pick Jason Kidd over Nash on my team, he is just so well rounded and just the better player period, he would make a huge impact on any era, or any system the coach would like to implement, sure being MVP is great but it does not automatically mean your the best player, because if the number of MVP awards will be the sole standard for greatness just imagine Nash is a 2 time MVP but that doesn't mean he is better than Shaq, Kobe, KD, KG AI & Dirk just to name a few who only won the MVP award once, also Nash became MVP right after some rule changes and Nash really benefited from it. (that is why Shaq is bitter on Nash winning MVP over him 🤣)

The thing that I love about great point guards whose graced our league like j kidd, stockton, magic and so on is that there were never any waisted dribbles whenever the ball was in their hands. You knew that whenever they made a move it was with a purpose to either pass or score.

Kids, watch how patient he is with the ball, and how he isn't doing any sort of dribbling other than to hide it from the defender or to move in a direction. He doesn't chuck the ball as soon as he sees his teammate. He'll take another dribble left, right, or forward to get a better angle, and he'll hold it on the break until the defender commits. Small things, but the difference between somebody like Tyrese Haliburton and the other 10,000 PGs with similar size and build who aren't as good as him.

Not completely true. Kidd in the early 2000s was the fastest point guard with the ball in his hands, which is what made the Nets so deadly in fastbreak situations. He was also a huge point guard at 6-4 and 210+ lbs. Kidd was the strongest PG in that era aside from Billups.
He had that hop in his lob pass to make that much more efficient and precise accuracy. Similar to slapping down shooting arm coming up on shot to make it more accurate on drives or moves under the board. What an underrated legend that 100% had impact on 2011 Chip Run.

First time I heard of Jason Kidd I was in Alameda taking a break from Cal. My younger brothers friend was talking up this guy that played at Saint Joe's a few blocks away from our house. Said he was going NBA, etc. I remember my comment was no way, he can't be that good. A couple years later who shows up at Cal, of all places, Jason Kidd. He was phenomenal at Cal bringing them to tournament and winning some games. Followed him in the NBA, great player.

Kidd is an underrated Hall Of Fame player. Supreme IQ, elite defense, elite passing and 3 point shooting. He is a TOP 5 PG in my opinion.
