    I saw this video in an Exotical page. I was under the impression that only light skinned women went through this because of black women hatred/ jealousy but I see that everybody is going through this… even worse that they signed up for it knowing that it was going to happen. Thanks for showing this

      I've had comments saying African braiders only do this to Black Americans because they don't like them. Sigh. Hope they can see that everyone can get it with these bad stylists. (Not like it's a good thing). But their hands don't discriminate.

      What is this world where everyone is jealous of light skin girls and light skin women live their lives in constant ostracism? Black women hatred/jealousy? I have had my knees scrubbed absolutely raw because my light skin grandmother thought my dark knees was akin to dirt. It is not some "black women hatred/jealousy", it is a response to colorism in our community where darker skin people are at the bottom. I simply can not understand how your comment about hair stylist burning their scalps make you think of only light skins women experiences. Im just, wow. Maybe colorism plays out differently else where, but Im tired of this "light skin girls got good hair everyone is jealous of and eager to destroy" narrative.

      Right me too on Exoticals untied she made it seem like it was jus a lightskin woman bein done wrong bt come to find out she does it to ALL women… exocticals United is kinda weird and out of touch for this she does too much sometimes n I would watch her content bt now I see she does too much bt she doesn’t show herself.. I find myself gravitating towards other exocticals channels some of them make more sense than her without bashing

      Not every light skinned woman is worth being jealous of- that is such a bottom barrel argument, normally made by women who make their complexion their whole identity and have nothing else going for them. I'm light skinned myself but I have family members like this who think everyone who is jealous of them or that their ish doesn't stink.

      Avoid those hateful “exotical” pages. Everyone gets off at degrading bw. Understand that. They simply adhere to the caste system, and many blk folks need to learn to see the value in themselves. Exoticals (so called) don’t want that 😂

    it’s called dipping for a reason. not only are the burning they’re scalp, they’re damaging their hair and hair follicles. this is exactly why proactive styles aren’t protective anymore, because of all this foolishness and the willingness to damage your own hair over a synthetic style that won’t last a 3 weeks.

    This happened to me once at a braiding salon while in Texas. I screamed and jumped up from the chair in agony uncontrollably! It was an involuntary reflex to move away from the pain. The burning was not intentional, as the stylist was very apologetic and expressed that she only meant to wet the ends, but the boiling water traveled up the twists to my scalp along with the steam. Had it happened again, a lawsuit on the grounds of gross negligence would have been considered.

    For the people laughing (this includes the stylist and others within the videos and their audiences in their comments section) I think there is something to be said about how people, even other black women, love to see black girls and women in pain. They love to test the waters of our pain tolerance like the way it has been historically done, by torturing black women. It’s disturbing how normalized it is to humiliate and torture black women in modern times for clicks and views or even just for fun. We’ve gotten to the point where black women don’t even see their own pain now or the pain experienced by their peers. This woman is psychotic yes, but she has a special affinity for black women’s pain.

      To be fair when I was 15, a hairstylist burned my ear multiple times but swore the flat iron wasn't touching my scalp. So I felt with her atitude, that I shouldn't make a big deal out of it. I was shy...
      And 2 years ago for a silk press, the steam of the blow dry was heating my scalp. I told the hairstylist 2 times, and she said it was to make my roots smoother before using the flat iron. But when it hurts that bad, I don't care about having bone straight hair ! It's not relaxing at all, and I'll avoid that hairstylist in the future
      You can feel some kind of pressure when someone minimize your pain. Almost like gaslighting

    U know all these braiding styles are putting more tension on the scalp and follicles.
    I had to start using ayurvedic herbs to heal my scalp. No more wigs, extensions of any kind for me. The only style I allow is mini twist or cornrows with my natural hair. Since then , for the first time I noticed visible growth on my hair. I think we black women really do crazy stuff cos of hair styles

    • @actuallyjuliee
      @actuallyjuliee  Месяц назад +3

      I used to love braids so much but many braiders braid like they are illiterate. Until I learn how to do it myself I'll be sticking to mini twists when I need a long term protective style.

    I think she does this for click bait or rage bait. I think she pours hot water on the braids, then warm water on the hair/ scalp. I'm not sure.Because if it's hot water she'll definitely scar her clients.
    And if the client complains, they will say u don't have tolerance for pain, won't you give birth. Like duh. These styles are the reason, black women have damage follicles, hair loss and stunted growth.
    A stylist has one time use hot towel to massage my hair after braiding it. It was painful at first but I had to stay under a fan to relieve me of the pain

    • @actuallyjuliee
      @actuallyjuliee  Месяц назад +2

      If she's doing it for click bait, she has to be crazy because she's risking turning away clients. But isn't it crazier that people see these and still go on to book her? We have a problem.

    I forgot about this nonsense 😅. My hairdressers never did this style sha. The water is in a bowl and they put the braids in. The vapor is still an issue but why do you pour it directly from the kettle 😮😮. And risk it touching the scalp 😭😭. I'm happy to have this as a memory that's about 3 years old. You can't convince me to go back.

  • @kailynncovington3907

    I think one reason why they're not jumping up or leaving is because they've been trained to endure pain and not go against the hairstylist. Holding their head is probably the closest they've gotten to it.
