Hey! In the video, we tried to keep the explanation for SGB's as simple as possible for better understanding, but if you are looking forward to investing in SGB's keep a few things in mind: - SGBs are continuously available for trading in the secondary market. Investors can buy and sell them anytime on the stock exchanges, just like ETFs or stocks, by simply typing "SGB" in the search bar. Although liquidity can sometimes be low, SGBs can still be bought or sold even when fresh issues are not happening. - As investors can sell their SGBs anytime before the 8-year maturity date. They don't necessarily have to hold them for the full term. Can sell at any time by simply placing a sell order, and they can pocket the gains if it's in green and even the interest if it's already credited. Hope this helps

Gold is must to have in your portfolio. Because not only individuals but govts/central banks are continously devaluing their currencies and making gold as first choice as the storage of value, so it will go up, may do better than 10%
Thank you for doing this. I keep trying to find an answer online for the best gold investment options and couldn't find anyone that does these comparisons.
With the Fed cutting interest rates by 50 bps over here in the United States, what do you think will happen to the stock market? My portfolio has performed exceptionally well this year, but I am concerned about the possibility of a market crash and losing my gains though but, it's all on a brighter and splurging side for Gold, should I look that way?
Gold and Silver are often seen as a safe-haven asset that can protect against inflation and economic uncertainty. But like any investment, it carries risks. To determine if gold is the right investment option for you, an investment advisor can help you weigh the potential benefits and risks of investing in gold. They can also help you create a well-diversified portfolio that includes gold as part of a broader investment strategy. An investment advisor can help you decide how much of your portfolio should be allocated to gold and select other investments that can complement your gold holdings.
Investing in gold is a reliable choice, and I plan to keep buying more to make up for my losses. While silver is also a good investment, my collectibles are not as similar. It's important to have clear investment goals and educate yourself on the type of investment that interests you. I work with a financial consultant regulated by the SEC, and started small, but eventually accumulated over $800,000.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.

Great video. You can sell SGB in trading account so you are wrong 😅. Consider buying SGB with other options like mutual fund and ETF. Liquidity is similar to ETF.
Right. Adding to above, the liquidity is still bad in open market and even if you find a buyer, the price you get might be lower than market rates at that point in time.
@@Zero1byZerodha Also, I had read some articles about how government reduced import duty on gold when it was time for them to pay back the bonds. This is an interesting point against SGBs.

When you want to buy an ornament this 24 carets in the form of grams will help you to buy for a reasonable price since the rate may vary and going downtrend physical gold rate is very rare.

As a financial advisor, I get money if I ask investors to invest in digital gold, but digital gold is only good for little diversification, and SGB (which I think is discontinued), physical gold ( we say tukda- not coin or bar) is better because of taxation.
The video didn’t go into detail about SGBs like how they can also be bought from secondary markets through stock brokers, how there’s also a 50 Rs discount per gram when they’re bought online from RBI, and how they can be redeemed after 5 years or be extended till 11 years It didn’t explain on the taxation for each of these methods of investing in gold Also, a suggestion - instead of using red-green flags it would be better to rate them and get a score at the end which would help make a better decision Love your videos but these are a few things I expect given the standards you’ve set
I disagree that the cost of acquiring gold (purely as an investment) is 7-12% + 3% GST. Most of the jewellers (I only know about South) sells gold coins and biscuits (starting from 1 gram) only with 3% Making charge plus GST. Recently I purchased physical gold at 0% making charge also. Hence acquisition cost of Physical gold is actually lower than digital gold(compared to 6%).
In some states, Gold will not be seen only as investment. It would be their wish to wear gold and also it makes them very happy. For them you can definitely go to jewellery. Don’t throw your dreams away for small percentage of profit🎉🎉.
Physical gold is the best. Infact there are lot of schemes in stores like joyalukas malbar if u do a lumpsum amount the making charges will be waived off so basically except gst no additional charge i see it as a win because u can wear them also helps in diversification
Point that can be added and would like to know in all the schemes is that when we sell how much invested money do we get back, like in physical gold selling price is different from buying plus other charges is also there. So when one goes to sell one does not get money according to the current buy price. What about the other schemes?
I've started purchasing gold coins, mostly 1 to 5 grams, through online platforms like Flipkart and Amazon from reputed seller like Malabar, brpl for a marriage goal in 2 years. With applicable card discounts, I'm getting them for less than the market price. For example, if the market rate is ₹7500 per gram of 24k, I’m getting it at ₹7250, including 3% GST. At the time of marriage, I will only need to pay making charges, with no GST or capital gains tax, unlike ETFs

One of my maternal uncles who owns multiple jewellery shops said that gold jewellery for a short(less than 3 yrs) term is actually a very bad investment as it loses value of 10% when the bar is converted to a particular jewellery.
Although the etf cost is 0.5%, it is charged every year. So considering long term like 10 years, you would end up paying 5% of the cost. Not to mention the expense ratio is based on nav and hence charge will be definitely higher than 5% as the gold will appreciate

Physical gold is something tangible, and actually available in your hands. Where as all other kinds of gold are in thin air, and only notional. In case of Total Systematic Collapse, like inundivided India in 1947, or 1990 in kashmir, or recently in Bangladesh, all other kind of gold will vanish, and will not worth the value of waste paper. Only Physical gold will come to rescue, provided you are shrewd enough to hold on to it.
In today’s age you have made a video that’s applicable 8 years back. Pls talk about current scenario. SGBs do trade in secondary markets. Is govt stopping fresh tranches of SGB here after? Do gold ETFs also hold equivalent physical gold somewhere?
Well SGB has been discontinued because government was the buyer side and in last last 10 years gold price Move way ahead than anticipated bcz of that government faced huge loss over it , Since It's comes with no extra risk except market volatility also security was backed by Government people money were heavily invested in this particular asset class . For more please refer Article published by RBI on Why Gold bond has been discontinued
But Prateek sir, will Gold ETFs and Gold Mutual Funds honour their value in times of war and crisis and global recession, when it hits India? Because, historically physical Gold gave us stability and good value, even during bad times of markets... Btw, Family and their comfort, happiness matters the most... Most of us are trying to get rich just to provide our family with comfort, luxury and world class education to kids...❤😊
Gold mutual fund has double layer of fees, so in that case wouldn't the ETF make more sense? Also gold makes a lot of sense in that its a really good hedge against the traditional asset classes. 20% of the portfolio seems to be the sweet spot
could you pls share your opinion about "Long Term" investing in REITs.. Please consider making a video on this.. is it ok to invest for long term in REITS..
Can I consider my family's gold ornaments shopping as investment? Coz after buy all this jewellery, I don't really have much left for investing in gold itself. I invest rest into equity.
Buying physical gold may be easy but sell it cannot be as simple as it sound. when it comes to jewellery they could be a 10% cut and coins may be 3 to 10% cut depends which type of jewellery shop you are dealing with.
I think if you buyinh from hedging perspective physical is best if you want to buy from long term investment go with After market SGB rest. if want to go short term skip gold
Nope. Because its actually not profitable for the govt. Its actually good only for the Bond Holder😂. Just like a casino, if the House is at a disadvantage, they ban it😂😂
How about making videos about why Indian banks having High intrest rate like private lenders . Also with with mortgage /assets still it's about 13% +.. Please de influence this... Everyone needs to know this .. also why god damn intrest rates for low cibil vs high.. Point is when low CIBIL guy goes bank they offer with 24-33% interest rate and damn why govt not care about those when they collecting taxes.. bla bla if u understand my concern please make video on it .. really thanks a lot .. i check zero1 daily if you guys post new stuff ..😂❤
Gold does make sense, as a headging, because that will be last one to be let go in Indian culture. I wouldn't sell gold if I need funds, I first try to see if I have any other options, only if all options are exhausted, then I will sell gold. and my wife will not allow me to sell the gold.
Gold is traditional hedge instrument from time immemorial, never lost its value. But at same time it cannot be hedge against inflation. But finally like uncle Scrooge, life is also about comforrtness and time is of essence..

Better short ITM puts of GOLD every month on mcx and keep rolling up 🎉
Physical gold is something tangible, and actually available in your hands. Where as all other kinds of gold are in thin air, and only notional.
In case of Total Systematic Collapse, like inundivided India in 1947, or 1990 in kashmir, or recently in Bangladesh, all other kind of gold will vanish, and will not worth the value of waste paper.
Only Physical gold will come to rescue, provided you are shrewd enough to hold on to it.
the ring grab was so much funny... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂 truth captured on camera
In today’s age you have made a video that’s applicable 8 years back.
Pls talk about current scenario. SGBs do trade in secondary markets. Is govt stopping fresh tranches of SGB here after?
Do gold ETFs also hold equivalent physical gold somewhere?
0:31 that's how work is done 😂
🤪
Well SGB has been discontinued because government was the buyer side and in last last 10 years gold price Move way ahead than anticipated bcz of that government faced huge loss over it , Since It's comes with no extra risk except market volatility also security was backed by Government people money were heavily invested in this particular asset class . For more please refer Article published by RBI on Why Gold bond has been discontinued
SGB"s are traded at stock exchange like ETF. Just the ticket size is high.
correct but SGBs are thinly traded and ETFs would be better option for liquidity needs
Buying physical gold is risky in many ways but we do not pay tax on the price appreciation unlike digital gold in mutual funds
20% of the portfolio seems to be the sweet spot
the time when Im watched this video, gold is trading at 79k all time high
meanwhile me Only thinks gold is best option to get loans with low interest rate at govt banks or co operative banks.. 8% per annum....
Very informative
Thank you 🙌
Liquidity of Physical gold is also less... Usually shop only exchange for new ornaments but they dont pay money back easily.
How to invest in Golf ETF & Gold Mutual fund and which is fund is good
could you pls share your opinion about "Long Term" investing in REITs.. Please consider making a video on this.. is it ok to invest for long term in REITS..
great explanation
Thank you 🙌
Please make a video on SGBs, and when can we expect the next issue from government
Good comparison sir.
Thank you 🙌
Of all the types, gold etf looks prominent, however rolling returns data doesn't look that good for gold etfs in 3ys, 5yr, 10ys time frames
Can I consider my family's gold ornaments shopping as investment? Coz after buy all this jewellery, I don't really have much left for investing in gold itself. I invest rest into equity.
Sgb makes better sense in term of investment... As it yield extra 2.5% interest
Buying physical gold may be easy but sell it cannot be as simple as it sound. when it comes to jewellery they could be a 10% cut and coins may be 3 to 10% cut depends which type of jewellery shop you are dealing with.
Please share that matrix sheet too. For us to play with it
gold bullion will not have any making charges right
I think if you buyinh from hedging perspective physical is best if you want to buy from long term investment go with After market SGB rest. if want to go short term skip gold
is there going to be a next sgb tranche anytime soon? or should we invest via etf?😅
Etf
Nope. Because its actually not profitable for the govt. Its actually good only for the Bond Holder😂.
Just like a casino, if the House is at a disadvantage, they ban it😂😂
Gold Coins offer direct ownership and control, whereas Gold ETFs provide convenience and liquidity with added counterparty risk and management fees.
How about gullak, renting for 5% per year
wow, gullak is an interesting idea! how does this work? what are the risks?
But its not mention in all video returns wise which one is better.
Can you make a video on ltcg and is it really worth it
Thanks for writing to us. Shared your suggestion with the content team. Stay tuned!
In the next wedding function I will ask my wife to wear SGB ya ETF ka certificate. Hope she reacts rationally. 😕
You can get physical gold in EMI only if the jewler is trustworthy.
Good comparison but what about post tax return
Investing in gold is an another name of Hedging in the Equity Investments
Sgbs are no more an option however we cab trade them in the secondary market
Return should be one of the metric gst taxes all these things will be applied and affect the returns
I think physical gold could have been split into pure & ornaments.
Digital gold , you buy for one price exclude GST, but you sell for even lesser amount .
How? 🤔
Can you explain more?
East or West, SGBs are the best!
Gold does make sense, as a headging, because that will be last one to be let go in Indian culture.
I wouldn't sell gold if I need funds, I first try to see if I have any other options, only if all options are exhausted, then I will sell gold.
and my wife will not allow me to sell the gold.
Thanks
👍
Gold is traditional hedge instrument from time immemorial, never lost its value. But at same time it cannot be hedge against inflation. But finally like uncle Scrooge, life is also about comforrtness and time is of essence..
Am Paying 0.79% For My Gold ETF(Goldbees). But It's Super Liquid. Paying Extra 0.29% Over Category Average.
The Making Charges are
₹650/gm to ₹750/gm in my area.
Thanks for sharing, interesting
