I drive buses for a living. Trust. The stupid shit you see on a bike is totally normal everywhere! Lanes, stop signs/lights, dipshits on their phone...totally normal.
just goes to show how unbelievably low driving standards in the US are. I used to live there and live in Europe now... seeing something like that over here is an ultra-rare occurrence.
I choose to believe that Spite called the MT-03 the *penultimate* beginner bike on purpose, because as everybody knows, the ultimate beginner bike is.... a Turbo Busa.

The rear shock is adjustable. If you adjust the rear suspension to it's max height it makes a huge difference for taller riders. If YAMMIE & SPITE see this and they haven't already don't so, this is a must!
My girlfriend is 5.4, I am 6ft, it's night and day from lowest to highest adjustment.

If you're heavy does the extra weight not just bring it back to the same height? Remember static say (weight of bike) rider sag (weight of rider) These all have to be set correctly. It's not really a height adjustment. Unless you go full adjustment with a light rider and affectively lock out the suspension.
Nah it's pretty good, it definitely compensates a lot more. And yeah with the mt03 I wouldn't be worried about "correct" suspension settings other than for comfort, it's really not glamorous enough to affect the ride, trust me I've done 10k miles in all types.of scenarios

add fold-able levers after you gack the existing levers, don't spend money you don't need to right away - save your cases first
I got handguards with the metal bars dropped my bike twice since having them no damages. My old bike broke 3 leavers in the first month genuine OEM levers were over 3 X what pattern ones were hated the quality though. I say prevention is better than letting stuff break

@@shawn2469 I agree ive rode some 300s and I'm not in to them I van see why they are "fun" but I'm looking more into the 650s just cause my back can't handle the lower riding stance on some of these sport bikes for longer rides

So I’ve had my shiny black MT03 for about a month now, and love it. Its super nimble in all maneuvers and no issues getting it up to speed. I’m kind of a small woman (5’5) so the seat height was perfect for me. However my gf (6ft) can also sit comfortably on it so I think it’s more about body type. I’m going to replace the clutch and brake levers but I wanna wait until I break one of them first when that drop happens lol. The only thing I really want to do to this bike, is fix the breaks like Yammie is and give it a better exhaust to sound a bit meaner. It’s a little baby bike lol so the torque isn’t an issue for me.
I just got rid of my fender and put in new turn front turn signals and integrated tail light. next is clutch and brake levers
Got back into a motorcycle after 10 years (zx6r) ... perfect amount of power to cruise around IMO.
Thanks to your guys with the beginner bike stuff i gain the confidence to get back on the saddle and now I have a gw250 and it’s perfect for learning
Great vid guys!!! Love the MT-03. Probably the BEST beginner bike IMO. I love my R3 but I gotta admit I wish it was a little easier to work on sometimes; the naked thing does that lol. Yaami & Spite RULE!!!
Picked up an MT 03 a month ago and I love this color!Dirt bikes was my life through the teenage years and now at 28 I’m on the street with this beautiful machine. Feels right at home. I’m a 145 lbs and my top speed is 103 so I doubt you’d hit even 100mph after the sprocket change. Thank you for doing this!

@@charlesblackburn2668 I also have one, I thought it would be way worse than it really is. Just give yourself time casually riding then hit the freeway, I definitely feels like it lacks power however it's a BEGINNER BIKE! I felt decently planted on the freeway and was surprisingly stable. Sorry for the late reply!

My cousin got a great deal, it had around 800 miles on it and I sold it to him for 3500dollars.

At the end, you talk about why you picked a specific sprocket. When you do the install, could you talk about how you picked? What specifically were you looking for, what limits or options were you concerned with, etc? As someone who hasn't done this before but like the sound of the end result, it'd be great to understand how to pick a new sprocket. Thanks!
Great video...enjoyed my MT-15 i(155 CC with VVA)..in Thailand...little one cyl that does 12,000 RPM.... it actually looks bigger and higher seat height than the MT-03, think I will leapfrog to the MT-07 .... Thailand riding is awesome! .......watch out for monkeys crossing..... (no I didn't get one yet but it happens). Sometimes we wear boots but flip flops are the normal "riding gear". Scooters equipped with beer holders are the grocery getters!
I know this is a year old, but I have recently been looking at the mt03 , the z400, and the ninja and it was great to see the upgrades being installed. I am kinda leaning towards the mt03 , I sat on it and it feels good. It's a shorter bike so my wife might like to take it out as well. Keep up the great content I will have to figure out how to enter to win something. I so want a new bike soon.

I just bought my first motorcycle a few days ago it was between a r3 or mt03 i went with the r3
Usually I swap out the standard brake lines for steel braided brake lines. And better pads as well.
If you guys are just getting starting with riding, I recommend joining the discord, there are a bunch of riders in there that can give you good advice and answer the million questions you probably have. It’s a great resource and if you just sacrifice 1 trip to McDonald’s a month you can afford it.

Great bike...loving mine. Though basically the same as the Ninja 400 in all mechanicals, the compromises, changes, to make it a naked are notable.

Is is worth considering to buy a 2019 model of the MT-03? or should I wait for months to a year for a 2020 model? dealerships in our area dont have a timetable on the 2020 one :( thoughts pls papa Yammie
The experience I've had working on crashed bikes from Copart is those case covers like to bust the bolts out of the case, and axle sliders bend axles when they take a hard enough fall... They're great for parking lot falls though.
I am a beginner rider and considering xsr900 as a beginner bike, because of maximum yeetabilities so this was very informative

@@twowheelefun202 Theyve already given away a MT07 and XSR700, different class anyway. I would say mostly because 600s are less popular these days. Most people who would have bought a 600 5-10 years ago would now be looking at sport nakeds like the street triple or going to a litre bike.

@@kingjet5123 I sold it and got another bike a couple months ago. It was an amazing bike, handled great for what it was, but lacked passing power on the freeway after 80mph which is the only reason I got a bigger bike. I had an absolute blast on it in the canyons. The Dunlops it comes with are decent but I'd upgrade to the Michelin Road series once they're worn out (probably 3-5k depending on how you ride)
Mt03 is my dreambike bro but it so expensive for me especially here in Philippines
If this thing only has twelve ft pounds of torque or whatever, I'm glad I picked it cause this thing feels like it can rip me right off the seat, and I only rode it three times. Dude it's feeling the torque for me. Comparing it to my 82 500r With the duct tape seat.

@Yammie Noob I've got a set of T-Rex sliders for my MT-03, but I haven't installed them all yet. What's the torque spec for the bolts used to attach the T-Rex frame sliders and clutch/engine cases? (Instructions from T-Rex just say to use the manufacturer's torque spec but don't say what it is!)
It will be in the service manual. If you can't find an MT-03 service manual (for the 321cc, that is, not the old 660cc one), then try an R3 service manual.
Just got my sister an mt03 recently.
Put all the Trex stuff, a leovince slip-on, and some other aesthetic things for her.
She seems really happy with it. Which is awesome!

I'm having "decision paralysis" between new MT03 and used 2006' XT250X. Want a motard as a first bike, but the choice where I am is extremely limited (so limited that peeps sell used 1-2 year KLX250's for MSRP because dealerships desided to stop selling them lol), and MT03 is one of a few bikes which is present new. Damn...

In Germany your are, as witness, supposed to stop and wait until the police got your name and statement. Can you in the US just continue driving/riding? oO Leaving the scene of an (even minor) accident is a felony here.
Same in Canada
Most states don't have laws for witnesses to stay and give a statement, but I usually do. To me, even more so if you have a camera running, to keep people honest.

In USA, witnesses only matter if a serious accident happens. Yammie didn't get hurt or get his vehicle damaged so no requirement for him to stay. Police wouldn't be called for this unless driver is threatening anyways.

Got a K&N air filter, iridium spark plugs, full exhaust, and ECU remap. Gained 6hp and more torque
I think it would be better than a slip on, since it doesn't remove the catalytic converter
Must have cost some of the low end power even if it makes more peak torque. So it's now got 50hp?

Has way more grunt in lower rpms
That's why having a professional do the remap step by step makes the difference
And it makes 48hp. It comes 42hp stock
@@Mooncakebestie I know sometimes it's hp other times it's ps. (Ps is a higher number) With the ninja 400cc they say it's quoted at the wheel. With an A2 license is the 47hp or the 0.2kw/kg at the wheel,/ crank dry weight wet weight ? I had 2 bikes both 500cc twins one was 48hp and the other was 60hp. The 48hp had loads of low down power. The 60hp never really woke up till you got past 7000rpm then it kicked the other bikes ass big time. You can tune an engine to make any HP but it comes at a price! I would be happier now with a 900cc triumph street twin making 54hp. Than a Yamaha R6 making 125hp.
@@chrishart8548 So the MT 03 is way outdated and under powered compared to the direct competition. What I found was the best way to make the most it could give. I will upgrade eventually, but it was great to be able to modify it just enough to make it better
@@Mooncakebestie it had been a game where Kawasaki started with the 250 then 300 then 400 the Yamaha is still good for 321cc but not when others are 399cc.

Sometimes when Yammie is comparing bikes in this class he says ninja 400, does he mean Z-400? I know they are basically the same bike but I want to be sure! I'm decided if the extra $400 is worth it to get the z-400 over the mt-03. I'm definitely getting one or the other. Total beginner rider.
