You’re gonna love it! I just finished the 1,000 mile break in on mine and letting it rev up to 12,000rpm is so freaking fun. It screams for a little bike.
I would recommend a set of Russell Speed Bleeder Brake Bleeding Screws (this is not an ad). They have an internal spring-loaded ball check valve that allows for a much easier brake bleeding experience. I use them on every vehicle I've ever owned that I've had to bleed hydraulic lines on. In addition to being very affordable, they come in a vast number of metric and SAE sizes and can be used on brakes and hydraulic clutch assemblies. I would also recommend getting a turkey injection syringe from the nearest dollar store and using it (without the needle on the end) to fill your brake reservoir instead of messing around with "bibs" and funnels. Unless you're a complete maladroit it's impossible to make a mess filling your reservoir in this fashion.
Although the 390 is faster and what not. My buddy got rid of his KTM after having it for 4 months. He had overheating issues here in Houston. He ended up with a MT-03 like me. Is a lot more happier with it. Even in stock form.
I do understand the fact, that it's more expensive to build it up and you guys have proved it. I'm a proud owner of a sexy 2018 MT-03 and the biggest joy I had was being able to make it mine, work on it and I'm not finished yet.
You need a vacuum bleeder. Uncap reservior, push tube from bleeder over the bleeder valve. Pump some vacuum into the line, crack the bleeder. The vacuum will suck fluid throughthe system fast, keep a eye on fluid level. Takes a couple minutes to flush the brake fluid
Not sure why your experience differs from mine so much, but I basically have to force myself to use the front brake on my MT-03. Usually engine braking and a bit on the rear does the job just fine. Also, I sat on a Duke 390 the same day I bought my MT-03 and it just sucked ergonomically and overall "feel wise".
meh, there is better stuff out there. Their pads are pretty bad unless you go for the track only high-end stuff, noisy, bad bite and generally lower life than some of the good stuff, The rotors are about even with most OEM quality, it's better than some but Kawasaki for example have very good OEM rotors and I'd take those anyday over EBCs. Galfer also makes superior rotors though they cost a fair bit, The brembo makes some SHOCKING discs on the low end and their high end stuff is definitely about as good as galfer but even more expensive... As for pads Vesrah's RJL sports combo-d with OEM discs is probably the best braking you can get (yes even better than brembo comps).
I really like what you did to that mt-03. It's exactly what it needs. About the suspension, you could put some high quality fork oil in the front and play around with the oil weight. Like maybe a Maxima 15W fork oil to make it feel more planted and less wobbly on the front. Would be a cheap fix but a long job.
You didn’t clean the brake pistons, i understand it’s a new bike but when you replace pads and disc it’s a good idea to clean the so you don’t push old dust or any nasty bits into the brakes, this may damage the piston seals

I guess the big takeaway is this kind of displacement is great if you’re just riding around town or on backroads, but not ideal if you want to ride from Houston to hang out with a buddy in Dallas.

How does a stock mt-03 compare to a ninja 300? We bought my wife a 2014 ninja 300 to learn on. I ride a 2007 buell xb9 but being air cooled it doesn’t like the stop and go/sitting when we ride. I’m looking for another lower cc liquid cooled bike preferably a naked. I love her ninja but I need a little more low end from a bike. Would an mt-03 be satisfying enough or should I go like z-400/z-650?
definitely go for a Z650. It's very similar in ergos to the Z300 (ninja 300 naked variant) and that 650 twin while doesn't sound as good as the MT-07's is overall a superior unit offering a lot more pull low-mid range whilst being smoother than the MT-07s. Also the overall package is far superior with better brakes and SIGNIFICANTLY better suspension. I've ridden both bikes and own a 2011 Ninja 650 and the suspension on the MT-07s is SHOCKING even with the newer updated models, if you weave side to side it feels like it wants to tuck under at ridiculously low lean angles and is way too soft to the point where it can't handle any weight transfer at all. The steering on the MT-07s also feels incredibly disconnected from the bike, it's like you're holding onto something that's not part of the bike. Anyway, the Z650 has all of the Kawi goodies whilst providing better pull than the Ninja 300. My mother has a Z300 and it's a fun little bike but the power difference is night and day compared to my 650. It's not too overwhelming though As for the Z400/Ninja 400 it's a marginal improvement over the 300 and in my opinion not worth at all. Suspension, chassis and brakes are all lower spec than the Z650 for very similar prices. As for the MT-03 vs Ninja 300/Z300 the MT-03 is actually a bit weaker cos the kawis have better top end.
Striking Opinion use mine just fine on the highway in SoCal every day. Unless you’re 200lbs you can easily hit over 100mph on the mt03 and ride Comfortably at legal highway speeds.

I have many times been at 70mph, dropped a gear and catapulted to 90mph, so it has high end torque when needed. The brakes are a little soft, but when used in conjunction with gearing down & engine braking, you have no problems stopping quickly when needed. Most of this is due to the engine braking. If there is anything I don't like it is that. If you even think about letting off the throttle, the engine slows the bike down rapidly. As far as fit goes, I am 5'10" and 190lbs. and 32" inseam. I fit absolutely perfectly into the bike. It is super comfortable. I have ridden the bike across the state on multiple occasions (I live near Seattle, and rode to near Spokane WA). As far as "growing out of the bike" goes, I will never grow out of it. I may add other bikes to it, but I will never get bored of it. The bike commutes just great. I live 50 miles from work, and ride on the freeway every day. The bike does just fine. It does get a bit chilly in the mornings with the wind & no fairings, but in the afternoons, the lack of fairings is a godsend with the air cooling flowing through my riding gear. I would say, the most desirable add on for me, is a wind screen, and shortly afterwards will be a fender eliminator kit from TST Industries, and frame sliders. All in all, I love the bike, and highly recommend it.

@@Josh-cw8by Or the Z400 if you prefer naked bikes.
Have you guys tested the Versys X 300 ?
where can I buy the full exhaust system latest model??
With the new exhaust, will it pass CA emission standards?
CA doesn't even do smog on bikes. At least not in LA or San Diego. Both of which I lived in.
Way faster then my go peds
Yammie Noob, did you get rid of that Akropovic pipe already?? If not, I know a certain cute squid 🦑 who has a MT-03 that sure would love to have it 😬😬😬😬
I wold just like to say, that my Yamaha WR125x has the same brakes as the Mt03🤣
Из-за то, что нету никаких датчиков на выхлопной трассе, ее можно смело менять на тюнинговую и не трогать заводскую прошивку мотора?
Please review cbr500r yammieeee.......
