Aha yeah, no way was I dying to Snail, balteus or no. It was a closer call then I'd like to admit but I managed to beat him up well enough. Satisfying as all hell
Snail was the first character in quite a while that hit that "so hateable I love him" quality. I just love how the whole game he's this smug self-satisfied asshole, only to start losing to you, the undignified "vermin" he's looked down the entire time. He becomes absolutely vicious, throwing a tantrum with those spinning plasma lasers - before you put him down and he gives the most glorious and painful death scream in the whole game.
Sadly, the scream isn't squeaky enough. My fan theory, as described above, was that his brain was melted by the power surge generated by his mech's reactor melting down. The power surge entered his brain through his implants, which is ironic.
I can see in my minds eye Snail in the tight cockpit roaring in pain as he gets vaporized from the seat up as the light of the explosion pours out his eyes & mouth.
God dang, Snails English voice actor did amazing but his JP voice actor genuinely sounded like he was dying. Amazing voice acting for an amazingly evil character.
Snail was such a breath of fresh from the usual villains nowadays, no backstory, no respect, no redeeming qualities whatsoever, just a moustache twirling villain second to none and I absolutely adore him.
His scream is so funny, the English one feels so out of nowhere its like he is pissed off for losing more than dying while the jp one feels like a genuine death scream

Ah, one of the sickest fight of the whole game : A rematch with an upgraded Balteus, Snail at his saltiest and hammiest, Rusty fighting a fleet of his own in the background, and the Phase 2 music of Rusted Pride with the vocals playing all the while with excellent voice acting from all characters, such a great mission.
The Japanese scream makes it sound like his generator ruptured and was burning a hole through him before the inevitable end. That, or like his entire augmentation system was frying his nerves.

That is actually a common headcannon to explain why some pilot survive while others don't, the same feedback generated right before an AC or Piloted Craft explodes overwhelms and fries the nervous system of the pilot. Is not the explosion that kills them, the suddend and massive energy burning every nervous fiber and neuron in their head is what kills them.
I kind of wish V1 Freud was fighting Rusty while you're against Snail and you get to hear their banter over the coms. Freud: I see Snail couldn't keep a muzzle on you. Oh well, I always wanted to take on our Rubicon Agent anyway.
The way i see V.II Snail has changed. At first i did kill him for his combat log, so it seemed fair that he sees us very negatively for almost killing him and the icon of Arquebus. But after seeing him whine about us ignoring him and letting him live for the next hour or so, to potentially prepare in facing against us? Like bruh, you're lucky that this time-warping godkiller of a pilot didn't come down there and waste your ass instantly.
Idk why but the way snail says good is stuck in my head. Everytime I think of something that sounds kinda bad but actually pleases me my inner dialogue just says "(whatever it is). Good" in snails voice
this fight always stood out to me as the best in the game. snail is by far my favorite ac6 character, and this boss fight was like a truck sized cherry on top. plus the scream is awesome
One of the best moments in the story. The only thing that could have made it cooler would have been to hear Rusty 1v1ing Freud while you're fighting Snail.
Man, this fight would be more epic if we could see Arquebus fleet firing on Xylem and Rusty was wiping them off one by one, and yes, including seeing Rusty got backstabbed by Waltuh from faraway
