    idk if anyone told you when you originally streamed this but once during a live performance one of their mic stands broke and they all seamlessly worked together to get it out of the way while still maintaining the choreo, it was really cool and it showcased their teamwork

      Here's a good video that shows how they covered up the broken mic stand flawlessly! ruclips.net/video/22kngKq6Uts/видео.html
      If you watch the full performance from that show it happens so quickly and they deal with it so efficiently as part of the dance that you'd never know anything happened!

      Minho's mic stand breaks but he still manages to dance around with just the handle, Key picking up the mic clip from the floor and sneaking it into his pocket, checks around for other broken stuff, Onew sliding the mic base away under his foot, Jonghyun kicking the handle to the back of the stage - all without breaking choreo, singing live and Taemin not having a clue what's going on.

  • @sharmcant7088
    @sharmcant7088 2 года назад +71

    If I remember correctly, they had specially built mic stands for this dance because regular mic stands broke easily. They did still manage to break the special mic stands lol

    • @aviatorcap
      @aviatorcap 2 года назад +6

      Yup! The ones in the mv and the first few performances were custom made. Then I think they had to change what mic stands they used because they were too heavy.

  • @milindawilson9175
    @milindawilson9175 2 года назад +48

    SHINee's "Dream Girl" came out in 2013. The song is called "Dream Girl" so the whole MV is a dream sequence. That is why the set looks like the room has been tipped on its side. It's also why the one set has the floor behind them and it looks like they are dancing on the walls. And that's why they are dressed the way they are, etc. It's things that could only happen in a dream.
    Their outfits are mismatched patterns and styles -- and Taemin's pants look like two No. 2 pencils (pink eraser, green metal band and yellow pencil) -- because it's a dream and not everything has to make sense in a dream. (This was another of SHINee's very iconic looks, and it's one of the things that makes SHINee, SHINee. They are trendsetters, through and through.)
    When looked at in terms of when the song and MV first was released, everything SHINee does should impress you and surprise you. Because as SM's experimental contemporary group, EVERYTHING SHINee does is always the first and they are the ones that start the trends, never follow them. They are literally meant to be the ones to introduce the next song and dance style to the Kpop industry and their concepts and styles are always just one step ahead of everyone in the industry. SHINee are expected to always come out with something that has never been seen or heard before.
    You should really check out their live stage for "Dream Girl" -- the mic stand choreography is legend and, like SHINee, it was so unique for its time and unlike anything anyone had done up until then. Just another example of what makes SHINee pure greatness and why they are considered one of the best when it comes to their vocals and dancing. :D
    There is even an iconic moment in one of their MCountdown comeback stages for "Dream Girl" where Minho's mic stand breaks in the middle of the dance and the way they all improvised and kept on dancing just shows how skilled and professional they are. Check out an episode of the variety show Beatles Code 2 where they talk about it. I love this episode of the show because it has so many iconic SHINee moments. I think you will enjoy watching it. Part 1: ruclips.net/video/8RmY4_kFDes/видео.html and Part 2: ruclips.net/video/vdhyeOz9Yj8/видео.html (Just so you know, the other guests on the show are members of the iconic first generation boy group G.O.D. and Shindong, one of the members of Super Junior, is one of the hosts of the show. The concept of this variety show is The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" theme. So that is why the hosts are dressed the way they are, they are supposed to look like the members of The Beatles.)
    In the dance practice, Taemin is the one with the Jean Jacket who does the mic tricks by flipping the mic. Taemin is always the one that does something just a little extra in the choreography.

  • @yokonamigaara

    The super wild outfits were part of the concept, its meant to visually represent the feeling of being inside a dream. So is the funky sideways set!

  • @aviatorcap
    @aviatorcap 2 года назад +57

    You'd love the performance where a mic stand breaks into pieces! The way they handled it was so smooth that at first you can't tell anything went wrong until the very end when Jonghyun didn't have a mic stand while standing in the circle.
    Also, for a bit of fun you can check out the managers doing this choreo with mops!

      I was thinking the same thing! In those days it was really just a practice that was recorded, nowadays dance practices videos are well produced and repeated (probably) until they're perfect

  • @byulcommekkoong944
    @byulcommekkoong944 2 года назад +14

    It's interesting watching this because when SHINee released sherlock, dream girl and everybody they set the standard of hard dances in kpop back then, but now dances have more complex moves and are less concept based, especially over the last couple of years where choreography is made for the internet rather than to regularly perform at events. SHINee is definitely a group where you can trace the dance trends in kpop.

    Those mic stands weigh around 4 KG each. Twas customized (many times) to withstand choreo use.. them stepping on it and all. SM apparently spent a lot.. A LOT on those mic stands, SHINee damaged versions of it.. lol.

    • @milindawilson9175
      @milindawilson9175 2 года назад +5

      I disagree. I think SHINee makes everything they wear look good, no matter what it is. LOL That's why they are style icons and why fashion designers always covet the chance to work with SHINee, because they can pull off anything and they will make it the next big trending topic. 😜
      You do understand why they are dressed the way they are in "Dream Girl," right? The whole MV is a dream sequence, so their outfits aren't supposed to make sense because not everything in a dream makes sense. That's why they are dancing on the walls and why in the regular MV you see the glitches and why they fall from the ceiling, etc. It's all part of a crazy dream. Shawols are SHINee's dream girl and we make them feel like they are lost in a dream. 😁

    If I remember correctly, this was choreographed by Tony Testa, who also did SHINee's Everybody, Sherlock and Married to the Music. There are also one or two parts where the members switch mic stands. Around 12:35 mark, Minho and Taemin exchange stands.

Their performances are very theatrical and you dont really expect them to repeat themselves-even in their solos.
    Been to your channel couple of times because of Taemin and Im so loving that you’re also now viewing SHINee performances! Hope you can review more of their performances because they are a special, unique group :) Love your honest reactions as well-ngl, not so appreciative of reactors who are overreacting and complimenting everything (maybe trying to please fans? "Why so farrrr????"
    1. Because there are already videos scheduled. I post K-Pop reaction videos on Monday and Wednesday only. This gives me an opportunity to share the other content i'm passionate about for this channel.
    2. Releasing content like this allows me to keep the channel consistent and focus on other projects other than trying to keep a daily youtube schedule since I run two businesses. It's all a part of my quarterly releases. Which you can see here: airtable.com/shrkUSn8a34srUFLh. (Patrons get access to the master lists, and early releases)
    3. Traditional studios and movies promote their content months in advance prior to the premiere to help build anticipation. The public already knows the date of when these movies are coming out. I know I'm no big-time studio, but why can't I take a similar approach to my content?

    I feel down with your reactions to Shinee most of it must be because you don't know them, because you watch the mvs and not the lives or concerts which they killed by the way, and because you compare them to new groups with other styles instead of standing on that time. Even new groups today will be cringy in 10 years... That is at least what I tell myself after watching.

    • @tomuchcamoflauge
      @tomuchcamoflauge 2 года назад +1

      he didn't call them cringy or saying the dance was bad. He also acknowledged that the style of dance was different at the time. shinee as well as kpop in general was less dance oriented at the time. I would say shinee is part of the reason kpop is more heavily dance oriented now because they always had interesting and more complex (at the time) choreo than there peers. like since sherlock everyone stepped up their dance game
