Mikal was the 3rd-4th best player on a championship caliber team, Of course he can put up numbers on a bad team. I think everyone overreacted to his Brooklyn debut last season. He’s a good starter; all nba level wing defender and versatile, solid scorer.
i sure did overrate it 2 things are clear: jaxque vaughn's beef with simmons hurt the chemistry of the team; he didnt start him but bridges and a few other players stated that it wouldve been better if simmons had ran the offense. also, just off that statement you can now decipher that bridges isnt that dude, hes not offensively aggressive or skillful enough like cam thomas, and cam took alot of shots away from bridges. Bridges doesnt know when to switch from world championship utility guy to no.1 guy on nba team and it showed in the playoffs and it showed last several weeks
I thought it was counterproductive to have him be a #1 scorer. There was no 'reason' for Cam Thomas to be the engine of the offense and work on his flaws in real time, having Spencer as the ball handler.
The Bridges example show that we cannot take anything that happen in the last part of the regular season seriously. This is the same that happened when TJ Warren was popping off in the bubble.
And you can’t take half a season and say that’s what he’s gonna be😭 first year by himself, and he goes from franchise player to overrated y’all NBA r too much

The sad thing is(which I said before we traded RJ) was that RJ is a volume scorer being asked to be more of a 3 and D role player in NY(which isn't his strength) and Mikal is more of a 3 and D role player being asked to be a #1 option. If you switch their teams and swap them, but players immediately get better and the teams do too. Which is why we saw the jump for the knicks because OG fits the role the team asks him to do. I think Mikal would fit perfectly as our sg next to Brunson.
Nah, I've always had Mikal Bridges in the same category as like Jerami Grant. Good player, solid starter... *COULD* sneak in an all-star selection at some point in their career.
I always believed in Sexton he’s one of those few players where his heart got him where he is today. Not the most flashy guy in the world but the boy got that dog in him. Much respect to him
I’m a Raptors fan that watched Barrett while on the Knicks a good amount of times. Something I noticed while in New York, it felt like plays weren’t built around him, just like in the clip you saw no one was in motion (when he had the ball), and I saw that a lot in his games in NYC. Forcing him to iso (he’s not even the greatest ball handler) and take a lot and take bad shots. In Toronto there is a lot of motion, allowing him to make an optimal pass when he doesn’t have a good shot, also allowing him to really hone in on his wing slashing ability when attacking Overall it’s a system that appears to complement his game a lot more naturally. So I don’t expect him to take any steps back.
You are correct! Coming from a Knicks fan you hit the nail on the head. I’ve been watching raptors games since the trade and I’m so happy for RJ and Quick, he’s doing what I always knew he could. Take care of those boys!🤝🥹
Don't think Bridges is one of those "He's young, give him some time to adjust", he's turning 28 this summer. Same goes for Cam Johnson, he'll be 28 in a week. A 25 million salary to average 13 points per game. The Nets really fumbled the bag by not re-trading these two.
I am happy for Gobert. He survived being hated for being French, the "Shaq Big Man Hate Kiss of Death" and being blamed for creating the C virus. If you can get through all that, then you can get through anything.
Good assessment of players and their changes circumstances. This is my "true" value of each player discussed, in my opinion: 1. Bridges - great #3 option, OK #2 option 2. Sexton - good #3 option (but needs a playmaking guard); great 6th man 3. RJ - probably good #3 option (he is sooo streaky and his streaks can stretch for months, so no one knows for sure yet) 4. Murray - good #3 option (but has to be lead guard) 5. Gobert - great as your #4-5 option (you need lots of scorers around him)

Then seeing as he didn't have the athleticism or ball-handling to get to the rim consistently, as soon as his shooting numbers fell back down to the mean he wasn't going to be nearly as good
Looking at Cam's deal as a UK fan who loves football the more I see these guys play for big contracts and kind of slack off when they get it, the more I feel we need to start restructuring contracts. In football (soccer) you get big contracts. But a lot of your contract is based off of things like scoring bonuses, assist bonuses, win bonuses, trophy bonuses and appearance fees. If for example a 50 million dollar contract was only guaranteed for 30 mill and the other 20 was based on how many games you play, points/assists/rebounds you get based on your position, how many games you win and a fat bonus based on where your team ends up come the end of the season then I'm sure we'd have way more guys putting more effort in. Even defensive football players get something called a clean sheet bonus where if the other team doesn't score a goal they get more money which obviously would be impossible in the NBA but imagine players getting a 95 point defensive bonus and in the forth quarter the other team had 80? Just paying guys for the sake of it seems dumb to me.

It was obvious Mikel Bridges is a good 3rd option player and Cameron Johnson is just a decent role player. It reminds me of Julius Randle and Jerami Grant having opportunities and showed their actual skill cap
But Julius Randle took the Knicks to the playoffs by himself. He’s much better than Mikal and Grant. Obviously Randle isn’t a first option on a contender, but he might be a number 2.
imagine if his buddies brunson and hart were in brooklyn. with claxton & johnson as the starting 5. and thomas coming off the bench. that'd be a fun team.
KAT doesn’t get enough credit for letting a younger player come in and be the “man” on the team while he’s now the #2 option… ALOT of players in the league w would be very upset about this. We don’t give Towns credit for that, everyone just makes fun of his voice
You see mikal bridges is exactly the player that people always fall for, jordan poole, andrew wiggins, austin reaves, even rn jalen brunson a bit. All are good players but get extremely overhyped and when they dont meet their expectations the next season all of a sudden their washed. When in reality they werent as good as they were when people thought they were something more in the first place. Mikal is a really good player but is just not that guy, jordan poole is a good player to have off your bench but is forced to be that guy when hes not, andrew wiggins wasnt really a all star level player especially starter and his injuries made him decline even faster, austin reaves is a solid role player, and jalen brunson is a all star player however not a superstar like most people think and if he doesnt keep up the play from this season to next they will say the same thing abt him, even his teamate julius randle dealt with the same thing in the 21-22 season

I knew brunson was gonna be this good even his rookie year him he had the potential hes just not superstar level and thats okay hes better than every other player i mentioned in that comment
The hawks statement is funny considering Young barely plays off the ball to begin with. Unless you call playing off ball standing around (sometimes at the logo) and not moving for a three. From the beginning that combo never made much sense to me offensively unless young improves a lot off the ball. 😅
Trey on/off numbers are really bad, his +/- is the worst in team, they went to some winning streak without him, now it would be very hard because half of roster is injured. Bogadnovic has great +/- numbers, I think that logo shots from Trey just are very bad for all team, he sometimes just go 2-3 attack without any pass. If they can take something like 3-4 picks and 2-3 good rotation players they would be much better then with Young.
to guys who are struggling after being traded and struggle at their first year in their team, is just like gobert, they just need to develop their chemistry for atleast 1 season
As a Bulls fan, I gotta day I was wring about Coby White. He's our future starting point guard for years to come. Only 23 and took a major leap this season ( although we still suck, him and Ayo has been the bright spots)
@dkarmusic5424 tbh man, I think all of us Bulls fans don't know WHAT to think. We haven't seen him in 2 and a half years. And now that Coby has popped off, I don't know where he fits in. Obviously he'll come off the bench for a while to ramp up, but how does he fit next to Coby? Zach is gone so maybe the 2, but by the time next year comes, this team will look completely different
@@DJonesIsKing yeah I feel you. That’s why it was so weird that the bulls didn’t make any moves at the deadline, but they got some very important decisions to make.
Opposing teams adjusted to bridges on scouting reports. They didn’t realize he was a talented scorer when the trade occurred. Plus they seen him play more over the summer in fiba. He just has to adjust to the new coverages and he will be fine.
RJ was played at the SF. Now he is at the SG spot. He has fallen into the same situation as George Gervin, Dale Ellis and KAT among others. Being switched to their natural position.
Yeah, Bridges is more of a 3rd option of a very good team or a 2nd option on OK team. He really excels as a 3pt shooter and defensive specialist with some ability to create against mismatches and in iso. But, one way to tell right away he wasn't the franchise was watching his defense become a negative when he became the go-to guy in Brooklyn. He just doesn't have that drive to put on 20+ shots and defend the best wing of opposition. If he isn't the main offensive focus, he can be one of the best wing defenders and high % 3pt shooter.
Mikal is a great third option for other teams. Playmaking, shooting, defense are a premium in the league. Would want to see him with the 76ers, Pacers, or the Kings.
DeJounte is a perplexing to me. Baffling how Hawks are worse with him there. I think if Trae is gone and DM has the keys to the Hawks for sure, he'll go back to triple double threat.
Bridges is that Aaron Gordon type of player, a really good roleplayer that can help a good team to become a true championship contender. Not at all a franchise players that's gonna deliver when the scouting report is all about him.
A lot of people hyped up Bridges so much and ranked him ahead of other great small forwards like Ingram and PG and I never agreed with it. However, he’s still a franchise player a potential 2nd option for a playoff team. But he needs a system like the Jazz to Markkanen and a first option who’s elite at playmaking like Doncic to offset his flaws
The issue with RJ in New York is they wanted him to be a spot up shooter when he's someone that's best going to the basket. RJ can shoot 3s, but he's the kind of player that needs to see the ball go into the basket first. You can't have him starting the game spotting up not getting involved. He can play with Brunson, he can play with Randle, but he can't play with both. With a better offensive minded coach that could have been figured out but not with Thibs.
The big problem with Mikal Bridges is he's always looking to get a foul and scrambles the shot and when he doesn't get the call, his efficiency drops significantly.
Why people really think Gobert is a great dude? The way I see it the Twolves right now were just like the Jazz from before. You just basically swapped Edwards for Mitchell. I know for a fact Rudy will get exposed in the playoffs once again.
As a Wolves fan i'd have sent D-Lo to Utah in that deal if it also gave us Conley Jr and NAW at the start of that season instead of the deadline. but KAT and his calf stain causing him to miss 50 games really shot the Target Centers idea dead for a season. But look at it now with a 3rd seven footer as our sixth man
Anybody who watched Collin knew he was just as talented as Darius Garland, but DG had the cleaner image. Collin has been an aggressive 3-level scoring PG since Bama. Real ones know.

But Julius Randle took the Knicks to the playoffs by himself. He’s much better than Mikal and Grant. Obviously Randle isn’t a first option on a contender, but he might be a number 2.
i dunno i think mikal would be playing much better if they had a quality point guard.
Markelle Fultz to the Nets
I think they’re going after Mitchell or Murray this offseason
imagine if his buddies brunson and hart were in brooklyn. with claxton & johnson as the starting 5. and thomas coming off the bench. that'd be a fun team.
In no way im saying these players are bad or werent that good at some point, they just would never have the consistency to be the way they were hyped
agreed. a lot of nba fans lack a brain 😂
@@tkkalpha8657 for Wiggins case it was mental, AM Hoops explained that the reason played bad was his mind is not on the right track given that his father nearly died, as a result he played so bad but as of right now he's having progress to get back on track
Jalen gets disrespected every time I don’t think he’s overhyped when nobody even expected him to be that good in the first place
@@Rieky22 its not disrespectful, its reality. Hes easily a number 2 on a championship team probably better than most number twos on a contender. Hell the knicks could go to the conference finals with him as a 1. However people think hes in the same convo as someone like shai curry luka and hali when its not the case he could be number 5 tho but thats up for debate between fox and dame or other guys in that category. I knew brunson was gonna be this good even his rookie year him he had the potential hes just not superstar level and thats okay hes better than every other player i mentioned in that comment
He’s a franchise 2nd option it just hurts him that they were offered so much for him
The hawks statement is funny considering Young barely plays off the ball to begin with.
Really really good role player is crazywork….Mikal isn’t a number one but he does look like a solid 2 and a perf 3 option
15 points tonight is crazy
to guys who are struggling after being traded and struggle at their first year in their team, is just like gobert, they just need to develop their chemistry for atleast 1 season
Not gone lie I’m sadder we moved off IQ more then I’m sad that we moved off RJ….but it’s no hate towards him….but IQ gave us a lot
Im a raptors fan.. IQ has been ok for us but not great, not really starter quality
@@chadwellington2524Too early to make that judgement, he's adjusting to a new role, he's starting to look more comfortable lately, we'll see
@@t12-z7h thats true
RJ has adapted. IQ will be a good role player, that’s his ceiling.
As a Bulls fan, I gotta day I was wring about Coby White. He's our future starting point guard for years to come. Only 23 and took a major leap this season ( although we still suck, him and Ayo has been the bright spots)
😂he’s not good. Giannis will own him until he gets traded 😂.
@Landa5 you act like Giannis doesn't own everyone. Plus they play 2 different positions. Coby is a PG. How old are you fanboy?
Yeah Coby popped off out of nowhere this season. What do you think about Lonzo’s future with the bulls?
@dkarmusic5424 tbh man, I think all of us Bulls fans don't know WHAT to think. We haven't seen him in 2 and a half years. And now that Coby has popped off, I don't know where he fits in. Obviously he'll come off the bench for a while to ramp up, but how does he fit next to Coby? Zach is gone so maybe the 2, but by the time next year comes, this team will look completely different
@@DJonesIsKing yeah I feel you. That’s why it was so weird that the bulls didn’t make any moves at the deadline, but they got some very important decisions to make.
The Nets are giving Mikal Bridges too much load. He's asked to be the 1st option when that's not his forte. As a result, his stats declined.
Let’s goooo!! Appreciate it Andy!!
Mikals insanity run last year won't be forgotten... for a another year or two.
If you really thought Mikal was a franchise player you’re a casual.
He is, just for the worst franchise in the league 😂😂
The way Mikal Bridges moves during his starting line up intro is hilarious 😂
Dejounte immediately talked trash to Spurs after leaving. karma is really a bitch
He's the only guy I don't like in the league
Opposing teams adjusted to bridges on scouting reports. They didn’t realize he was a talented scorer when the trade occurred. Plus they seen him play more over the summer in fiba. He just has to adjust to the new coverages and he will be fine.
I’m glad sexton finally getting minures to prove he’s a starter, potential star. He was awesome in cleveland and even better in utah
Now scottie out for the season right after this video 😭😭😭😭😭
I played basketball with some crackheads in Brooklyn and I can confirm that they play with a lot energy😂
They thought bridges was the next Tracy McGrady lol
Barrett is.
@@dkarmusic5424😂
Don’t you worry, I have a feeling the nets are gonna revisit a Bridges trade based on how the season is going
The New Jersey Nets : where careers go to die 😂
When we got dejounte I thought we was get a 2way demon a mini Kawhi. But the hawks just got worse
and now every hawks loss is a win for the spurs with that trade LOL
I knew Murray and Young were a bad fit. Made no sense to me
A year later, “Mikal bridges might prove the doubters wrong” lol
Ben Simmons's comeback made Bridges a ball watching guy rather than flowing the ball through him. There is still plenty of upside with Mikal.
Please make a video about the good comeback of Dante Exum
He already did
DeJounte is a perplexing to me.
Hey man, Im all for longer formats but be mindful - a lot of repeating sentences! Especially in Barret segment. Support!
Collin having Crackhead energy is accurate... and it's definitely a good thing.
The big problem with Mikal Bridges is he's always looking to get a foul and scrambles the shot and when he doesn't get the call, his efficiency drops significantly.
Mikal seem like he been getting bounced around like a basket ball itself
Trae Young has more success in the playoffs than Joel Embiid lmao
One of the best cutter today in nba
Why people really think Gobert is a great dude? The way I see it the Twolves right now were just like the Jazz from before. You just basically swapped Edwards for Mitchell. I know for a fact Rudy will get exposed in the playoffs once again.
Mikal Bridges not franchise PLAYER he great 2nd or 3rd option in any franchise NBA 💪🔥💪
I think it's a coaching problem for Bridges.
As a Wolves fan i'd have sent D-Lo to Utah in that deal if it also gave us Conley Jr and NAW at the start of that season instead of the deadline. but KAT and his calf stain causing him to miss 50 games really shot the Target Centers idea dead for a season. But look at it now with a 3rd seven footer as our sixth man
Well this seems like an interesting video to say the least.
Bridges remind me when Rocket tried to make Trever Ariza their franchise player
Anybody who watched Collin knew he was just as talented as Darius Garland, but DG had the cleaner image. Collin has been an aggressive 3-level scoring PG since Bama. Real ones know.
