A couple thoughts: Early in the video, it was said "A Big 3 No Longer Works in the NBA". I doubt that is true. You just need the RIGHT Big 3. Can't have three ball-dominant scorers, especially if they don't have any "glue guys" to go with them, and a coach with the right plan. Look at the mid-2010's Warriors... Before 2014/15, they were a pretty-good team that fired its coach after the season was over. They hired Steve Kerr for his first head-coach job ever.. . Obviously, he had the right plan. With almost completely the same roster, they took the league by storm, got 3 banners and could've had more with some better injury luck. Part of the reason for this is Steve Kerr's plan, part is that their "big 3" meshed perfectly, no ballhogs seen anywhere. This is very different than what the current Lakers have... And mostly because of that, I agree that Reddick is a sacrificial lamb that'll be let go as soon as it's convenient, such as, the very moment LeBron leaves or retires at the end of next season.
When JJ Reddick helps them win their next chip, I want yall to keep this same energy. Most assistant coaches are assistants for a reason. I would have hired JJ if I couldn't get Hurley as well.

The way the league fires coaches so nonchalantly is a problem too. Like why fire a coach for its players sucking? Sometimes it’s the coaching, but not as often as these stupid organizations seem to think….
I look at this in two ways; 1) we're banking on The King hanging around for 2 more years, or 2) JJ is the beginning of the post LeBron era. JJ is unproven as a coach. He's young and brilliant indeed. LeBron, realistically will be around another year at his level of play and then I expect to see a significant drop off in minutes and productivity. You completely forgot about J. J. playing for the greatest college basketball coach of all time in Coach K at Duke, who also has an amazing resume in coaching the absolute best basketball teams ever assembled in the Dream Teams and USA Olympic basketball. That's the only mentor he needs.

Well one thing about his hire seems kind of familiar... skilled and smart guard with a lot of insight on the game.... became a successful TV basketball analyst.... then his first coaching job is as a head coach of a good team, but hadn't had much playoff success lately... And I would also say getting Lebron when he was already aging was a bad move aswell. Should have focused on the rebuild, which at that time, was actually starting to work as they made steady progress before Lebron arrived and promptly missed the playoffs aswell LOL.
The point of the podcast was to display an extremely deep understanding of the game. The king wants to win, he respects JJ mind thus will trust him as a coach. Weird “basketball heads” who I know seen the podcast, share this belief. It’s actually a perfect match.
only one problem : the roster is hamstringed by a star player who is tuning 41 and does not play any defense and constantly stops passing the ball to their actual star (AD) when he feels like he needs to pad his own stats rather than have someone else shine. Lakers will not go past the first round yet again, and depending how the mess up the off season by trading away good assets, they might not even make the playoffs yet again, like they already did in 2 of 6 seasons with Lebron in LA...
The problem with superteams is there are too many large egos and only one ball. Superteams aren't the problem. It's making these superstar prima donnas embrace a role to focus on a team goal rather than the spotlight.

@@damianpresha9833 granted though that was because of the unfortunate freak injuries that Kobe suffered. But yeah, they have been bad for a long time due to mismanagement. And I would also say getting Lebron when he was already aging was a bad move aswell. Should have focused on the rebuild, which at that time, was actually starting to work as they made steady progress before Lebron arrived and promptly missed the playoffs aswell LOL.

only one problem : the roster is hamstringed by a star player who is tuning 41 and does not play any defense and constantly stops passing the ball to their actual star (AD) when he feels like he needs to pad his own stats rather than have someone else shine. Lakers will not go past the first round yet again, and depending how the mess up the off season by trading away good assets, they might not even make the playoffs yet again, like they already did in 2 of 6 seasons with Lebron in LA...
So basically... they have no coach.
