    Almost all characters in the series have good and bad sides. This applies to Hurrem but also to Ibrahim. He didn't forget his roots either and was a different person when he was with his brother or with cute little Esmanur. No one is born evil, neither Hurrem nor Ibrahim.

    • @Redluna32
      @Redluna32 3 года назад +48

      I think the issues of enslavement and conversion, along with clinging to Suleiman as their lifeline from it, are part of what make Hurrem and Ibrahim such perfect narrative foils for one another. Even in the first episode, where Ibrahim is considering the consequences of his own conversion, it interposes with shots of Hurrem in the harem, clutching to her cross.

    Aaaah this is such a great scene for Hürrem. While some of her motives for doing her charity work were for personal gain, she did also genuinely want to help people for altruistic reasons because of her own experience.And that is in and of itself so important both thematically and in terms of her characterisation. While in some ways she tried to bury her, Alexandra is still very much a part of who she is.

    It's why she was given the name Hurrem, joyful. She made those she loved smile and laugh. She was genuinely kind and compassionate and did her best to make friends with others and keep them happy.
    I don't claim she was an angel. She did terrible things but most times she was forced to in defence of both her and her children. People who turned against her were the ones she would destroy completely. In the start, she always tried making peace

      Also, I don't get what you're saying. But Hürrem in this part isn't even throwing her "Drama Queen" act. She STILL has remembered her roots and where she came from. I've always said that Hurrem's story reminds me of the fictional character Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce from tvd. They were both only 17 when they lost their families and left alone in the world. Katherine had to run from Klaus and Hurrem had to survive in the palace. They both had to do bad things sometimes because if they didn't they would have been dead. No matter what they did, Hurrem honestly loved Suleyman and Katherine honestly loved Stefan. Hurrem was a great mother and Katherine would have been too if her baby wasn't taken away from her by force.

    • @danamader3496
      @danamader3496 2 года назад +11

      It's good because Mahidevran forgets that she is also Slave. She always acted like she is born in Dinasty and insults Hürrem for that. Also Ibrahim forgot. He even called himself "Kanuni Sultan" This is why he was killed.

  • @bre3756

    People say that her charity couldn't overturn all the evil she has done but I don't think she has done that much evil to be honest. Putting aside her reasons and story.
    Just objectively Valide, Hatige, Ibrahim and even the sultan have done things far worse than her.
    Just imagine how many people the sultan killed with his wars. Not even remebering the ones he killed personally. The same for Ibrahim.

    Totoo talaga Ang kasabihan na : "Kung Di Ka Marunong Tumingin sa iyong Pinanggalingan , Ay di ka Makakarating sa Iyong Paroroonan"
    Or in English :
    "If You don't look back to where You came from , You'll never arrive to your Destination."
    Hurrem Not forgetting where she came from was one of the reasons Why she was loved by the people and how she managed to become a powerful and influential Sultana, that up to this day is still remembered in History as a Powerful figure during the Sultanate Of Women.

    Whatever Hurrem’s intentions maybe it is still not right to force a lady to sell her beloved husband’s home which had so many memories. It’s not right to emotionally black mail someone. If she wants to keep it let her.

    • @sadafrafiq5006
      @sadafrafiq5006 2 года назад

      Intentions were pure, not whatever.. She told her intentions and then left it to that lady to decide.. Obviously no one want to obstruct something that is beneficial to so many people.. When the lady realise how her place will be beneficial to many she decided not to be selfish about it.

    • @TheSak7171
      @TheSak7171 2 года назад +2

      @@sadafrafiq5006 regardless of Hurrem’s intentions the lady still has the right to keep that house. It is not selfish it was the late husband’s house. Calling it selfish is not fair. If the Queen is sharing her personal journey and requesting a common woman do you think she would have a choice? It’s called emotional blackmail and pressure.
