Dr. Fazai, has whole-body vibration been studied to see if it improves pulmonary function? I know that vibration is used in respiratory therapy and that whole-body vibration has been shown to strengthen the vascular and musculoskeletal systems. It seems logical that it would help individuals manage symptoms. I hope a study is done soon if it hasn't already been done. COPD is a horrible chronic illness to live with.

I was diagnose today with mild emphysema by my nurse practitioner based on a CT Chest exam alone that stated mild emphysematous changes. My PFT came back normal. I’m waiting for a consult with a pulmonologist. Could she have diagnosed me prematurely? This diagnoses was given prior to PFT results. I am no longer experiencing SOB. I’m tolerating exercises and do not use an inhaler. I’m thinking my SOB was due to anxiety attack.

Hi, Thank you for your informative videos. I have been informed in the last 3 weeks, by 2 asthma nurses and a GP, that a maximum of 20% of smokers will develop COPD, that COPD is mostly due to environmental issues and a genetic deficiency - Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, not smoking. My asthma nurse asked me not to share this information ???

Any condition which causes hypoxemia in Blood Low oxygen levels can lead to clubbing e.g Congenital cardiovascular defects, interstitial lung diseases, COPD, bronchiectasis and lung cancer. Clubbing is not specific to COPD. But it is usually found in patients with COPD.
